Oh wow you got to piece yours together? mine was already assembled I can't wait to see the pictures of your budgie either
  2. :greenb: Shebet is destroying her skirt and the band around her cage. I have found bits of cotton thread inside the cage and around it on the floor. She likes attacking it at times, and l'm worried it may hurt her in some way? I was going to replace them once they were fully un-useable, but l'm not sure if its worth it? The skirt l bought (and band) is way too big for the cage, l wasn't sure what size to get so l bought one that was the biggest size - should l buy another that will fit nicely?
  3. :greenb: I bought Sherbet a couple of weeks ago, but already they have bonded. Millie is my cat, also female. I took the cage down off the hook under the awning andf put Sherbet on the table. Millie jumped up on a chair and sat and watched (with my supervision of course!) Millie likes to put her nose up to the cage and her paw, not to frighten but to say hi. Millie moved around the other side of the cage, and Sherbet followed! Sherbet also moved to the same side of the cage, then when Millie moved, Sherbet moved again! Sherbet likes to get as close as she can to Millie, even putting their beak/nose together! Just thought it was so sweet l had to share it :ausb:
  4. Nerwen - l will remove one of them, the one she doesn't use to feed on, and l'll see how she goes with that! The only demand she has is that l have a natural perch in there, somewhere up high. She gets upset if its not in there! :ausb:
  5. Thanks I try and interact with her once a day, because l work 5 days a week (sometimes 6) its hard to really sit down and spend time with her. Thanks for the advice about the perches - but l don't know if you can see it or not, but l use one right near the food/water, only because l feel its a bit too high off the bottom of the cage, and thats as far down as the containers go - do you think l should keep one perch there, or shouldn't it be a problem with her getting the food? Thanks Phoebe I thought it suited her quite well too

They don't have tumors up where she is going, and they have the biggest aviaries you have ever seen
  7. Thanks Karen, she is pretty I try my best to take the photos l can with the equipment (or lack thereof!) that l have
  8. :greenb: I had a shot at making a beaded swing... Sherbet doesn't like it though, she prefers her plastic $1.80 one In total, it cost me about $20 to make. The beads came in "friendship bracelet" packs, which also included letters and string. These packs were $9 each, even though l only wanted the little beads! The swing above cost me $2.00, the wire (thats under the beads) detaches from the wooden perch so l could thread the beads on. So, there you have it, my first attempt of being crafty and Sherbet doens't even like it!
  9. :greenb: I had my batteries on charge all night, and l took some pictures of Sherbet. They were taken in the kitchen, but l don't keep her there I keep her outside. Enjoy Some aren't all that good, well, none of them are really good. My camera isn't very good and l couldn't take her out of her cage, so there are a lot of bars from the cage in the pictures. And now two of the cage set-up and size: I hope its a good size for her?
  10. Absolutely gorgeous budgie!!
  11. thk - l was in a similar situation with my budgie when l first got her. She wouldn't go on my finger or anything, but after a while she warmed to me. Even if your budgie doesn't warm to you, l'm sure she does appreciate you looking after her and caring for her :ausb:
  12. Ah Bea, l see with your little ladder there in the distance the colours on the beads have run onto the wood - mine did that too! Only last week, l was washing it in some soapy water and the colours started running P.S. Great toys! I have had a go at making one (its a swing) but l will have to wait until my batteries charge for my camera before l take pictures. Although, Sherbet doesn't really like it because its not very stable (it doesn't just go back and forth - it also goes around in circles)

Well, I thought l'd make a post because a stepping stone has just been crossed. Sherbet was letting me stroke her chest gently and she was sitting on my finger at times, but tonight was the first time she let me pat her lightly on the back of her head. She knew my finger was there, l showed her my finger, then put it behind her head and she just sat there. Once she fluffed up her feathers behind her head so l could scratch her better (thats what l thought anyway). She loves millet - l put some in her cage, and before l even had time to tie it up to the side of the cage, she had started getting into it! She loves it to bits. How often should l be giving her millet? Also - l have a skirt and this band (made out of cotton or wool or something) and she keeps on chewing on it - is this bad for her? But other than that, l'm pleased with her progress. She doesn't sit on my finger during the day though She's too full of engergy and just bounces from perch to perch when l put my finger in her cage!
  14. Happy Birthday!!
  15. My dad had a close look at Sherbet under good lighting and he said she might be a clearwing? What is a clearwing? Are they rare, or uncommon?
  16. The first one of Alo looks cool - its looks like he is a plane, and we are looking from earth

Not sure if this is the right spot to put this, or it already has a section of its own (l did search). I went into a newsagency yesterday and l looked in the pet section, and l found a small newspaper called "Talking Birds". It has info on budgies, canaries, parrots and more. Does anyone else read this? Also, l went into a huge discount bookshop and looked in the animal section, but there was not one book on birds, there were the normal cats and dogs, as well as pandas, and lions etc. No birds. Very dissapointed
  18. Naw, kissy kissy!

Ah l see, thats why l picked her, she looked really white, and l've always had a thing for white pigeons over the black ones, only because they are unique and different, so l picked a different looking budgie to the rest! With the sexing, how many months would it take to know for sure? I looked at the sexing thread, but the months vary.

Thanks Nerwen - l understand completely that it may be wrong, but l'm grateful all the same that you each told me what you thought! I also had a look at the thread - l think l'm starting to understand - its like the budgies switch genders after they are a few months old? For example baby pink = boy who turns out to be blue. Baby blue = girl who turns out to be pink/tan! Hope l got that right Also - opaline? Greywing spangle? I know what a greywing is.. but spangle?
  21. I haven't been here very long, and l don't know if this is a cutest bird competition or anything But l have here the first picture taken of my bird the first time she let me hold her. Thought l'd give it a shot Thanks for looking
  22. That beaded rope/wire is so pretty! Did you make it? If you did, did you use wire or rope?
  23. How adorable! Looks like Lea is happy in the play room I would be too, those toys look like fun!

Aw  I'm not really disappointed, the only thing is l've bought a lot of blue things, and my dad said he , well... she, looked like a boy I'm happy either way, boy or girl, as long as she is healthy and happy, thats all that matters Thanks everyone for your help, throughout this past week, l really appreciate it! I showed my friend Adam this forum (he took the pictures) and he was surprised at how helpful everyone is here The forums he is on they aren't very nice, but he likes this one Not many pictures from now on, unless l can get Adam to come around and take some more I have also made a banner (well, Adam made that for me too!) for my signature, but seeing that you all think she is a girl, l will change the colours to pink/purple EDIT: Thanks FGM Your birds are beautiful too! EDIT take 2: My Dads getting a but flustered l told him what the verdict is on here - he still thinks its a male. Just wondering if its too soon to tell? Its only 7.5 weeks old. Dad thinks it looks blue for a boy.

A girl? I really thought it was a boy!
