An Important Petition
Personally I just don't see the need for them. I had not heard that they had to be neutered, if that is the case I am a little less uncomfortable but like anything I really don't think we need to import anything that is going to increase the size of our domestic cat population.

So They Don't Feel Left Out
Nope on the day the picture was taken she had not done any work at all she got to sleep in (dad would not take her as the lady said that she had large dogs) she then watched fromthe side of the house on her bed as Dad and I put the aviary up, then she had dinner and went to bed!

I like cats but I don't think having these in the country is a good thing.

Pairing Advise Please
I am going to look like a nob here but why would you not put a dutch pied with a DF spangle?? Is it a colour thing or is it just cause of how the birds look? Sorry but I came from a house hold that only and when I say only I mean ONLY breed Normal Blues so the whole mutation thing has me stumped and I am trying to work it out so more information would be nice. Again sorry if it sounds like a stupid question.

Pairing Advise Please
Thanks i am a little in love with Ozzie! I am thinking (if everything does to plan) that I would put a little girl form them to Cloud in two springs time so that would be late 2009 early 2010. Always happy to loan her back to you if you want!

My Aviary
Yes Yes you did. Anyway aviary update I am thinking of painting it cause it looks very silver and industrail so I was thinking a soft green with cream edge. I also want to change the waire over but not sure what type of wire I want going to have to look around for that. I figure when I get the slab put down then I will have to move the birds out and while they are out I would paint and change the wire. Should I paint the inside of it?? If so what color do you think and also what type of paint should I use or what type should I steer clear of?

What Should I Pair Him With?
okay so I have never been overly attached to spangles but the other night MB gave me a little Spangle boy and while he has been in quarantine he really has stolen my heart. Being an aviary bird I expected him to be stand offishbut when I went to change their food over today he jumped on my hand and started rubbing it. I took him out and he sat on my shoulder while I was preparing the other budgies foods and kept trying to ear my earings. I think he knows I don't like Spangles so much so is sucking up to me! I call him Cloud and the reason he has a flat head is cause he stuck his head in the water bowl for some reason. Anyway I just wanted suggestions on mutations that you think I should cross him with and what the chicks might look like. I do so like his blue tummy it really is that bright! Also is anyone has a hen that want to get rid of that they think would make him a nice girl friend in a years time (because I have planned out where I am going to breed what) then let me know. Suggestions please.

Hmmm Just Wondering
I have been doing alot of reading on breeding Budgie and keep coming across breeding ages. I have had a quick chat to MB about this the other night and also spoken to Ivan another breeder that I know. The breeder of Storm and I had a quick conversation about it as well. See there are those that believe that you can breed from 1 year of age to 5 years of age and this goes for both Cock and Hens. One site even stated that Budgies "natural" life span is 4 years and only due to medical intervention have captive birds been living longer then that. Then we get people who get very heated about how old the birds must be etc... Some say as soon as the cere turns brown in a hen she can breed, others say a year and yet others say 18 months to 2 years. For Cocks it seem to start at 6 month right through to 2 years. At the other end most say Hens to stop at between 3 and 5 years. Cocks about the same but then you get people who say as long as the cock is producing more then 50% fertile eggs then he can do it as long as he likes. One breeder told me that he has a cock that is 9 years old and still as about a 90% sucess rate and has since he was 2 years old and has been paired with 4 different hens. The same breeder however will not breed from a hen over the age of 4 as he feels that it is to stressful on their body. So I was just wondering what age do you breed your Budgies till? Is it a cut of or is it a depends on the bird? What is the oldest bird that has been breed from both Cock and Hen and what are the complications of breeding older birds? Just intrested is all.

"june Signature Competition"
- What Are All Mine
I love the first picture of him cause it captures the big man that he is but it was taken on a camera phone so the colour is a bit off. thanks for that- Photos Of My New Additions
Oh Look there is my Ozzie!- What Are All Mine
I think Harley is a Blue not a grey it might just be the picture- What Are They Doing?
Dude you will never know just how close I came to keeping him! it looked really agressive but I went and checked on them before and to turn the lights off and he was feeding her so I can sleep tonight and not worry so much- What Are All Mine
okay so I have a few now and I have ideas of how I am going to pair them up so I ask you what are the proper names for their mutations. I am going to run them in their propsed pairs and if you have ideas on what they could have that would be great. So I have Harley and Storm Harley I call him a Harliquin but not sure where I got that from. Storm Boof & Pretty Boof I need to get a better picture of his tail as it has some green on it I think but maybe it just needs a clean Pretty DQ (Drama Queen) & Fiji DQ is the lighter one and Fiji is the yellow faced.... Blue and Flame Again Blue is the pied and Flame is the Lutino.... I am pretty sure of these ones Colbot Resessive Pied and Lutino Lemon & Lime Lemon She is a Lutino Lime He is a normal green Unpaired ones Cloud who is waiting for his Tifa Loackhart (eg he has no girlfriend as yet) Mozzie (I will not breed from cause she is an older bird and a right pain to have in an inside cage due to abuse when she was young) Normal Green (she has the navey blue tail feathers) Correct me if I am wrong I am trying to get my head around the whole mutations thing also anyone know a good book I could read about this? Any ideas on baby colours would be nice more just to see if it comes true. Also if you think I should switch the pairing around then let me know. The only issues with this is Lemon and Lime are BONDED big time and older birds so no go there. DQ & Fiji stick together and Flame and Blue are paired up in the aviary but none of them are really that attached to the others I think I could split them. As for Harley he is an older bird and if he breeds in the next year they go him if not then I will not try again. The only reason he is inside at the moment is cause he does not like the cold so he winters inside and once quarratine is over I will put Storm in with him if they get along yeah if not then Blue will most likley come in cause they are great mates. Did that make sense?- What Are They Doing?
and i so have not put my hand up for one of them. That is my exception an ozzie baby even if he is not blue!- Tam And Edmund
Very cute and very nice of you. Not many people would do that. Good on you.- Plucking Vents
So i come get you to do it for me then Also I see you around the board do you have any pictures of your babies? i was looking for them the other day and I think you need to start a post with some pictures (unless there is one there that I am missing)- What Are They Doing?
Yes it is cause all your birds are so pretty. I don't like Spangles but hello what did I walk home with the other night? And Cloud really is so pretty and bringing me around to the idea of spangels.......- Plucking Vents
MB yeah this is true... Lemon is VERY fluffy down there (I had a look today to her disgust and now she is not talking to me) but I am not overaly worried about breeding her and she produced fertile eggs for the past two years without doing it so I guess unless I am getting alot of infertaile eggs later down the track for no reason I might think about it but really something I would be happy to never have to do! - What Are All Mine
