A few of the city pet shops sell their birds as hand tamed for $80 when in fact they just have their wings clipped! Another one near me claims that if you pay them $130 they will hand tame the budgie of your choice. I am so tempted to go in there and say that i want this big old mean green they have had in there for at least the last year and asked for him to be hand tamed without clipping his wings!

Well said I agree. Some get it right and some get it so wrong. All we need to do is support the ones that get it right and help the ones that are getting it wrong.

I have re read this post and I thought I would let you know something. I was in my local pet store today talking to the guys that know me cause I had to buy a new net. This little girl about 5 or 6 comes in with a LARGE show type green (sorry mutations are not my strong point) male budgie. She got it from another pet store and was told that it was a baby Her parents said she had to get rid of it cause it bites her (and she had the bandaids to prove it) and gets out of its cage and flies around the house and she can't catch it. She took it back to the original pet store and they would not take it back and said if it was biting then she must have scared it or something. He was a really nice Bird think MB's Ozzie without the yellow and more markings on the wing and no hat of hair. Anyway Ivan who is my local breeder and runs the pet store started talking to her, she has had the bird 3 weeks but it has a ring on it that says he is nearer 3 years of age. the poor kid had so been taken for a ride and she had spent 6 months saving for this bird. She was in tears. Anyway Ivan then took her out the back (the back back not the front back, the back back has the better birds hidden away and you have to know Ivan to know about these ones!) and said that he would swap over the Cock for another bird. She ended up getting an hand tamed pied one that looks like my Blue (white all over with wing marking and a Cobolt blue back) He is a young one and Ivan says that she has to come back with her parents and pick him up in a weeks time as Ivan says he is to young to go yet. Sometimes pet shopes get it so wrong and sometimes they get it so right!

Is the seed good quality? With my growing numbers then i need to find some place to buy it a bit more in bulk!

she does seem very sweet! but a little flighty as she has just been in the flights her whole life and he has not breed from her so her handling has been limited. Letting her settle at the moment.

Hmmm liking storm.... The guy said that if I put her with Harley or another normal blue then I might even up with Violets. I am now sort of on the look out for another blue like Harley I have a special place in my heart for the blues and really now that is the cap I have put on myself no more birds unless they are blue!

I got this little hen today and I was hoping that someone could give me an idea on a name for her?

Here is Nell who is VERY upset with me at the moment cause I have been telling her to get away from the aviary and there is now a spot in her back yard that she is not allowed Here is Mac who is upset cause the study now has 4 bird in there that make noise and mess and his bed (which is a full size single bed I use as a couch) has been moved away from the window! Here is Karma Dad's Seeing Eye Dog. She is not upset about anything she just likes to sleep!

Yeah sort of they where the only two that where feeding each other so unless getting your thing on is catching then I would say they are the pair! Honey I might come around and look at her However I did get a pretty little hen today from a friend of a friend who's father use to breed birds when my dad was breeding.... Didn't even know that she was coming there was a knock on my door. Dad had set it up a while back and rang the guy and he came across with her today. She is from the line that my father use to breed from and when he got out of the business about 15 years ago he gave all the birds to this guys son who was the one who dropped her off today. She is about 3 years old and is designed to be Harleys girlfriend. As I have said before I am pretty sure his breeding days are behind him but I will give him one last chance with this little hen and we will go from there. If not hey another birds (yes I know I said I was done but really come on did anyone believe me????) Here is a picture of her now I have to call her something! As for the aviary I put some straw down on the base just so that I can keep the mud down as between the rain and us digging then we have a mud bath at the moment! Not anywhere near a thick of a layer as it looks in the picture but will help untill Dad and I get around to concerting the base. Now for the clean up! Since I took over the junk corner I have to find somewhere else to put all the junk! Quick question the big pot I was thinking of putting in the aviary with a plant in it. Any suggestions on what to use???

MB write a list of what you want in the breeding program you can be one of our test subjects He has been saying how it might be easier to write things from scratch instead of combining existing software. i am going to try and get copies of both programs and we will have a look but if anyone can think of things that they want in the software then let me know!

Daz just stumbling through the board when I came across this my BF is a computer geek and was going to write me a program just for the fun of it *shakes head at the nerd* but I saw this and he would be intrested in trying to compbine the software only issue is knowing what is important to combine and what is not. If I got my hands on copies of both pieces of software could you tell us what he needs from both and then he could attempt to write a new program that incorportates both. Anyone else that would have ideas on what needs to be kept in the records could also let us know. hey we could build the BBC program Anyway let me know, no promises but this is the type of stuff that he loves to do so I'll let him have his fun! Also great way to involve him in my hobby as he is normally at cat person!

Guys you are aware that you so should have told me 20 or something! MB the green and yellow pair are the cock that is bright yellow with the green strips across his tiummy and the (and I might be wrong here) yellow faced pied????? Watch them for a bit as he does feed here 95% of the time. I am going to get some more Blue budgies as Mum and Dad are Happier for me to get more as long as i breed some blues as Dad use to breed them. (even though mum and dad do not live with me! ) Dad is thinking about getting back in to showing with my birds... no bad dad no! I would just be happy to breed some pets.

Yeah my dad may moan a bit about doing this but he had fun so that great as he likes feeling useful! MB watch the green and yellow pair that I said had paired up and where sitting on eggs cause everytime I moved them they bit me and the little buggers could bite! I would be intresting in seeing what kind of babies come from the blue ones (sorry I suck at mutations) as I said I was tempted to keep them but I really am trying to limit my Budgie numbers I swear! One more Budgie to get, Hopefully Smurfette and then I am done I swear... Yes I know I have said that before! Also anyone have and Idea on how many Budgies I could have in the aviary it would be nice to have a limit! I really want to start having a look at Mutations and giving it a try but Dad still thinks I should stick to trying to breed Blues/Harliquins.

Someone kill me! Who's idea was this anyway???? Arrived to find the thing still together we then take it apart and I don't this she had cleaned out the base in the 5 years that it has been up. I also ended up with 6 Tiels and 8 budgies..... Here is the progress, we started out at 8am and it is now 3.30pm we have not stopped all day and FINALLY it's done! Should type more about how it was all done but really over it! Waiting for MB to come pick up the other ones that I picked up for free with the Aviary. Also the lady i got this off has three Budgies and a smaller aviary with an arch for sale for $200 if anyone is intrested. Can I go to bed now!

Hmmm I looked into them but could not find any that fit. My only issues is moving the cage if and when I have eggs and babies... really it's all part of having an inside cage, I changed the study about and everytime I move anything guess what I find??? that's right bird feather and seeds! Inside birds = mess but i don't care. Anyway back on topic so maesie did you get the one off ebay?
