  1. Yeah Elly i am going to try everything else before she goes into my avairy. I just wish i knew what to do to fix her!
  2. HUH Will see about getting a picture of her for you over the next week. Also to those who PMed me, just want to clear up no I do not feed my Budgies 30KG os seed a day I buy 25KG of regular budgie mix and 5KG of hulled oats and mix them and it last me a few months
  3. Did I read correctly? 11yr old?? WOW great shape for 11yrs old. Out of curisoity what colour is his leg ring?
  4. I was thinking along the lines of "and flap those wings... 2....3...4 and flap those wings 2.... 3... 4 and rest okay three more sets and you can have a millet SEED ready okay and flap those wings....."
  5. according to the vet that is not an issue. i did some internet reserch and came up with liver issues, pancreas issues, bowel issues, internal organ failure, blood issues (low white cell count) and birds that do not eat. She eats fine and has been tested for everything else. I swear i am going to dip this girl in gold she is costing me so much! Oh and here is what her poo looks like.
  6. I just know how they destroy perches and i would hate for you to come home one day and fine all your birds sitting on a curtin rail looking at you going "But Mum we swear the hole in the cage was always there!"
  7. Thanks guys will try and let you know how I get along.
  8. She is a really nice bird she is a few years old and if I did not already have guys inside she would come inside as she is happy to sit on my hand and does not bite. I think she may have been semi tamed before being sold. We need to write a budgie exercise book with all the yuppies now days i am sure someone would buy it!
  9. I have one that did that the first day I got him and now over a year later does it in the breeding cage and the avairy he also sleeps hanging upside down! Normal in 9 out of 10 cases. Agee with the using flat dishes till he/she settles.
  10. Thomas does 5 pages of maths and 10 pages of English 6 days a week and it cost about $200 a month (but that may also include Olivers 5 pages of maths and 5 pages of English I can't remember sorry)
  11. Size wise 4 would fit however I don't like wodden cages as they will chew on it and you have to watch they don't do a prison break!
  12. MB she seems fine in good spirts no tail bobbing no discharge, no weezing nothing except for the poo issue. think i will try a few more things and then if still nothing I might take the risk.
  13. I think a week or two in the avairy and she will be right I really did not notice her getting so fat as i thought it might be the norm for show types if a pet type was anywhere as big as her I would be worried but i thought nah she's fine... now I know better, trial and error
  14. Going hunting for the cordial tomorrow can anyone recommend a brand? Also what is sulphadim and where do I get it from?
  15. 30 days min, I had some guys for almost 2 weeks before one started showing signs of sickness. as for grey names, you can always call the hen jean (as in jean grey from the x-men)
  16. I would love to but I am at boot camp that weekend sorry will have to miss out!
  17. I picked up a bird a while ago and i know she can fly cause she was flying in the avairy. Well quarantine went well and today she got put into the avairy however she could not get any lift the poor girl. In winter I feed a ratio of 25KG seed to 5KG hulled Oats to help keep condition on my birds. Everyone is going fine with this outside of her (the other birds that came out of qarantine at the same time have no issues flying) poor girl i had to chase her up the log to let her know she can get from the ground up to the perches. going to have to keep an eye on her and make sure she loses come weight. Thinking of putting her in my big cage and giving her a mouse wheel, poor little fatty!
  18. I have a grey hen that I picked up at a bird sale. She got sick, went to the vets got put on Doxy. However she has white runny poo and has had from day one. Went back to the vet did a bunch of test got told it was from being on meds. Put her on a course of probiotic then re introduced fresh veggie and then plain water. All signs of sickness have gone outside of her poo. More tests told it most likely is worms (even though none came up on the slides) treated for worms still no improvement. Was told it was lack of exercise, started letting her have out of the cage time still no improvement. Went back for more test, heading towards the $500 mark for this bird at this stage.... Still nothing, tested for organ failure, nothing, tested for crop mites, nothing, tested for blood disorders, nothing. They finally said they don't know. So now do I take her out of quarantine and put her in with my other birds? The vet says it's not likely that whatever she has will be caught by the other birds but not sure I want to take the risk. Now I am stuck with what do I do with her? I can't keep her seperate from them all for the rest of her life, If she keeps going the way she is going I can't breed from her (my original plan) so now I am stuck. Can anyone think of anything else I could try? Some old breeders trick? I am really to jump up and down in front of her cage and slap her with wet fish if someone recommends it to me! I do have apple cider vinger that I was given (a litre of it from my feed store) but have no clue how much to give etc...
  19. MB get him involved in Kumon by correspondence. They send you the work sheets and you get them to do 5 to 10 pages a day the correct it and send the results back to educator. There is no age level basically he can start at the start (counting wizz through those levels) and then move onto the harder stuff. It very good and I like it. He can do Math, English, Languages I am sure there are other subjects he can do. http://www.kumon.com.au/home/default.asp http://www.kumon.com.au/offices/viewcentre...dyCenterID=1435 Jenny Rule is great have a chat to her I think that your boy would excell at these. If the first steps are two easy I am sure she would let you jump sections. Works well for the kids I look after and they are all gifted and in the top classes at school. Hope that helps. Alo your youngest could also do it as Oliver does it and he is only 3.
  20. looks great I can't believe how much you have done!
  21. I agree with everything you have been told. Also find out what the Budgie was feed at the pet store, a change in food can cause some issues sometimes. I would cover the top and three sides of the cageor the next week to let him feel a little more secure. If you can get the same type fo seed the pet store was feeding that would be good. I would also go and let them know what is happening. Try the food and then see if it improves if no I would take the Budgie back. You are better to get one from a breeder 9 times out of 10. Where do you live? Maybe someone has one that they could sell you on the board. I also would make sure bird 1 is 100% before I introduced any new birds into the situation.
  22. Wow that really has come along!
  23. Welcome can't wait to see pictures
  24. HA well one can become 10 very easy like just he sort of ignored the 0 part of the number!
  25. You can also do the same but without the base so it's like a tube that fits around the bottom of the cage that way you don't have to remove it to empty the tray.
