  1. okay so i had better post some pictures of my babies now that they are starting to get feathers Jean Head Case Jelly Bean Butter Anyone want to guess mutation and sex?
  2. Well I went to change his water over and he came out and jumped on my shoulder as i type this he is trying to work his way around my study eating things and jumping back on my shoulder if he feels scared which I think is a good thing as it means he trusts me. Most of the morning has been "Elmo no don't eat the keyboard, Elmo no don't eat the camera, Elmo No don't eat the pen...." At the moment we are having paddle pop wars it's funny!I was going to leave him in his cage but as he knows me and trusts me when he wanted to come out I was not going to force him back in if that makes sense.Oh god he chews everything!
  3. okay so we are home, so far we took some photos. now he is busy exploring his cage, he has eaten and drunk and is in the process of taking a bath! he found the fresh fruit and nut mix I left out for him and I don't think he likes on of the nuts! okay now for some pictures. Sorry they are a bit dark but did not want to use the flash on him
  4. Cool thanks, do you have any parrots that use shell grit as i have a bunch now! Otherwise I can give it to my dad for the chickens. :rip:
  5. Really? okay well then I just will not give it to him them. Thanks for that MB
  6. Well I am done, i made a list but only got about half way through however I did the important things. Cage is set up I think I am going to need a few more feed/D cups as they said to mix the shell grit and the egg mix but now it looks a little gross and a few extras will not hurt.
  7. I was talking to my God Brother on his mobile and he was walking to a meeting in the twin towers when he screams God a Plane just flew into the tower, I thought he was joking but we got cut off. I spent 30 mins trying to contact anyone in my family and just got busy signals so turned on the TV and spent the rest of the night crying on the couch. I know people who lost family members inthe towers and the pentagon it was so strange as if I was watching a Movie. I had to keep reminding myself it was real.
  8. Thanks guys, for some reason I just feel totally underprepared. I have spend so much time researching how to give him the best care possible that I have not put anything into motion to get ready for him. One of the ladies on another board I am on runs the website http://www.friendlybirdinn.com.au/ She has said she will help me out with toys as King Parrots are not big toy feids and are happy to sleep most of the day so no point buying a much that will not suit him or he will never play with. I have written a list and going to work my way through it tonight and hopefully get to a point where I feel more at ease with the situation.
  9. I have had two boys, two girls, two boys with two girls and never had an issue. If you want two then I would get both the same sex, boys are normally better then girls but if they are from the same clutch or they get along well then don't worry and just have fun with the girls.
  10. So I am going to pick up Astro/Altas/Elmo tomorrow and I am freaking out. I have almost made myself sick today. I have so much to do when I get home tonight. I have to take a bed apart (after I photograph it to sell on e-bay) run down to Bunnings and pick up plastic liner for the floor, clean the area, move the pictures and re hand them, get my large patio cage and clean clean clean, work out where the hens that are in it at the moment are going to go. Go get some organic dried fruit and some nuts (but not peanuts as they could kill him). Then I have the issue of how to get him home, it's going to be really stressful for him anyway and what do I do, do I take a flight cage and turn it on it's side for him? So I take a big enough box? Should I call Ivan and ask him? *feels like passing out* and then once I get him home I have to make sure that he has enough toys to keep him happy in his cage for the first week, I am doing half days at work next week so I can spend some time with him and help with the bonding. Oh god what if I get him home and he hates me? What if I am a bad mum? I think I am going to freak out in the corner over the and then pass out!
  11. Great news!
  12. I know it is so growing on me! Now I am getting excited as I get to go shopping for him on saturday morning and then go pick him up! *dies of stress*
  13. Don't want to debate this but felt it was an intresting read. http://www.parrots.org/pdfs/all_about_parr...flying%20SM.pdf
  14. Oh God this is going down hill fast! SW - WOW what I list, I like Rex but that is the name of the dead lizard that the little boy I looked after managed to kill so not going there. I am a MASSIVE Transformers fan so Loving the Optimus Prime name also Love Astro and am a big Altas fan so maybe Atlas? Oh this is so hard what if I pick the wrong name and he hates more for it for the next 20 odd years?
  15. My guys get it for two days out of the week and I have one clutch and 6 pairs down no effects that I can see.
  16. Well that sucks... have to tried to make seed mush? has the same consistence as the hand raising mix just made from seeds. Also have you tied her on baby food?
  17. I would reduce the amount and also mix seed into it if you reduce the amount so very slowely over a few months then you should be fine.
  18. I would not be overaly worried about this. If she is eating and drinking just keep an eye on it and note any changes.

  20. It can be a sign of a few things. There can be Kidney and/or liver issues it could be the type of water they are drinking, it could be bactiria build up in the gut, it would be a bunch of things. it could also be they are not eating enough or eating to much of one type of seed like Diarrhoea effects humans.
  21. Harley would not take the vitamin treated water and he hated sugar water but the apple water or Beet water he will drink and untill he is so full that he can't even waddle around his cage. If you ahve vitamin supplements that sweeten the water then do try that. The other thing that I have been told is Hydrolite which is a drink you give kids when they are ill.
  22. I just thought I would update you. The vet still can not work out what is going on. The Apple Cider Vinger has helped but not as much as we hoped and even then we don't know why it is helping. He has run ever test that he could think of and everything is within normal range. He spoke to two other vets and one guy who was down from Sydney came to see her and still nothing. We then decided to take a different measure. I took Brandon into see the vet and he got a full health screen and came out healthy we then put them together at the vets and they where monitored for 2 days. Brandon shows no signs of coming down with thatever she has. They then got returned home and stayed together and nothing. As she is going into breeding condition I have added a nest box (but she is not really intrested in it at this time) and we will see what happens. The vet thinks that maybe she just naturally produces alot of urine and there is nothing we can do about it. She drinks no more then any of my other guys so he said just to make sure she always has water avaible to her and then we can go from there. They have now been together for 11 days and no signs of illness in Brandon. Granted this was taking a risk and I am sure people will think that I should not have done this but the other option was for her to spend the rest of her life in a cage by herself away from the rest of the flock or to be put down neither of which I wanted to do. If Brandon shows signs of illness or if they have chicks and the chicks show signs then I will put them all down and take the loss on the chin and accept that I did everything I could. But the general opinion is that this might be her normal state.
  23. I personally think he needs to drink. What I do when Harley was this way was to catch him and using an eye dropper, drop water onto the break. Make sure he is upright or nearly upright so that he does not inhale the water and it gets on his lungs. Also if you have some fresh apples and can juice them then make the mix 50/50 apple and water or whatever fruit your little one likes. That way it's almost like a treat and/or sugar water. I hope he gets better for you *fingers crossed*
  24. Meetings can be fun. I know I go and every time I walk away I sit there and say Oh i want to breed.... (insert different mutation) Glad you had alot of fun
