  1. Kaz,If you were very carefull & 0nly removed the yellow feathers.I don`tthink it would show up a lot,do it a day or 2 before the show.
  2. I would be changeing the bird over,I dought she will know the difference,What colour is the bird.I could put 4 green or blue birds i front of you, give you a look at them for 5 minites & then chance the cages around & say line them back in the same order & you would have trouble doing it.Be different if you had it for aweek,
  3. Angelic, how are you going to do this.I feel a lot of parents might not look,to kindly to there child, lobbing home with a budgie in a cage. :angel1:
  4. There is one way for this child, to have no more upsets.change it with a fit budgie. Surely some one has a budgie of the same colour, they can take to the vets & replace it. I know of budgie that have died on Monday & good as gold on Tuesday.
  5. Its not confuseing,The recessive has spot with a few feathers, maybe 6 feathers. A dominant pie has a patch on the back of the head. A split recessive,if you remove the spot you can show as a normal. You could`nt do that with a dominant.
  6. Nice looking bird, just a pitty you can only see half of him.Is there not a full length photo, :feedbirds:

Timbo,Iam not sure if you have any rings.,as your not a member of a budgie club. I would buy some plastic split rings. You can buy them off ebay in the pet section or at some pet shops.About $5.00 for 10 rings & they will do the job for you.
  8. macka replied to a post in a topic in Breeding Tips
Yes a fair chance, the 2nd photo may be dead in shell. But for the exercise it showed a full ege.

If they are in the house, the mice & you use the corn & concrete mix.You will have little blocks of concrete,in the walls or were ever theyare nesting.
  10. If your not trying to breed up to show birds.okay use what you like. But if you are trying to breed for show. put it to a green,Are you a member of a budgie club, talk to a member. You will need rings, they are $45.00 a 100.
  11. just a quick question normal as in colour or normal as in size?if so a. what colour? and b. would he be too big for a normal sized hen? Normal as in colour, use a show size bird.ie a show breed bird, a green or grey green.
  12. Full list, there is 8 combinations.
  13. Red Eye Iam going to bed now,its past my bed time here :feedbirds:
  14. Your the one who telling us it is pied.(Clearflights are pied.)
  15. Elly it looks to have a iras ring & it dosent look black. If it is a black eye. The offspring will be 75% blue clear flight pied. 25% blue. To many combination for a full list.I think there was 12. :
  16. If the picture is the parents. The cock is a albino, not a double factor spangle. The off spring will be. 25%cobalt c/flight/apaline ino cock 25%cobalt/opaline ino cock 25% albino cobalt c/flight pied hen 25% albino cobalt hen The hens will be white & the cocks blue.
  17. Budgies coughing.I have not heard of that happening.Gee Splat, I hope you can get to the bottem of this problem & pritty quick.I would be heading to Moama with the bird like straight away.
  18. Timbo,If you can breed a Red Budgie. The sky will be the limit, for what you can charge for your information,on how you breed it.
  19. Visual 50% Blue Spangle C/Flight Pied ====50%Blue Spangle, Full Listing 25% Cobalt Spangle C/Flight/Op cock ====== 25% ========/Op cock Full Listing 25% cobalt spangle c/flight/hen =======25% ------- --------/hen
  20. You were lucky, there was not a death in the cage,Perhaps you were thinking of dogs. Some breeders, mate 2 dogs to the 1 *****.Then DNA the pups,so they know the sire of each pup,not much good with budgies.Like you say Norm, you lern some thing new, everyday.
  21. Yes ones a yellow(nothing to do withthe colour) feathered & the other is a buff feathered.IE one a tree & the other the forest. : :fear :parrot:
  22. Gee I hope they will drink,in this weather, they might give it a miss.Iwould crop feed the fluffed up ones.
  23. Daz,Seeing as you have her tail, proped up on the other perch, perhaps she has a hinged tail or the wings, may be held a little low.But she looks a better feathered bird then the 1st one.But photoes can lie. I would have liked to see them both set up on the perch, was the judge a budgie judge or a friend of a friend. :fear

Timbo, the other problem I have noticed is the nests are on 2 levels. There will be a lot of push & shove as they will want to nest in the top row. :yelling:
  25. I would think,by the time they are old enough to do that test, you would be able to tell by the colour of the cere.
