  3. I think it might be a cock, it is a bit hard to tell, but I will say cock.
  4. I would say it is a male,
  5. Yes chooky,it will be interesting to see how the numbers stack up,because of the the ring thing.
  6. There are clubs from all over Victoria, each club entrer 3 birds in each class & you can gain points with 2birds,there is 22 or 23 classes. The club can gain a maxuim of 39 point,20 birds score pointsie 1st 20,2nd 19 & so on. There is 3 sheild shows each year. The UBC show is the hardest to get a full team, because there isonly a small window of opatunity to show the UBC,before they breakthere caps, you have to try to hatch them at the right time, about 6 to 8 weeksold. As Splat said, some of the small clubs, struggle to get a full team to the UBC Sheild.I would thinkthere will only be 12 nto 14 teams showing,United club, was beaten for first spot ,this year by Melton.the first time, in a lot of years,so will be interesting to see what happens at this show,if Melton can roll them again. Nubb,Hope we explained it fot you how theshow works & the difference between UBC& Broken cap.I am not much good at puting it down on paper. But it is a very well contesteds show.Usely2nd to 8th these are the points from the Adult show.!st to 16th.628, 472 432,393,369,360,345,340,321,& they drop away after that.
  7. Yes I think this will be the first show, were you will get points. We have a good one but I like the look of the ones of splats, wil be good to compare them.
  8. We did't get a full team,no greywing or clearwings, only 1 doublefactor spangle & another class with only 2 in it,We are not to excited, about our chances.
  9. I doubt the bird has flees, it might have lice, there is ways to rid lice & flees, Check the labels on the insect/fly spray on the supermarket shelf.
  10. They are looking good Splat. I hope to see you there Sunday,
  11. It might be the way the photo was taken. It looks to have a tinge of blue,in 2 of the photoes,
  12. By the look of the first nest,it looks like the floor of the nest box is shiney & if that is the case, that is why the chicks have splayed legs, there is no grip for there feet.
  13. Put more nest materal in the nest& see if that helps.
  14. If you are not sure if they are fertile, shine a torch on the eggs & you will see, which ones are fertile.
  15. The ring date change, was a push from at least 3 states & when it did't get up the first time, they put it up again for the next year.It was't Victoria, who voted for the change,it means we now have to have our UBC show now, at the end of November & some clubs have had to change there show dates. I think the states, that voted for September,I would doubt they will vote for July, they want the budgies older for the National, thats why they changed to September.
  16. Daryl only birds with the 09 rings, can be shown in Rocky,if you have put on the 010 rings, they will be okay for the 011 National,
  17. Yes it is very hard to breed, for size & keep the wings clear.Just have to breed for type & hope the judge is a type judge & not a big is better judge.
  18. Are you out of 09 rings Heath or you puting on 010 rings as well. :DWith this new ring date, you will be able to breed them, before they go to the National &it wont matterif they don't breed, when they come back,as they could be 18 months old by the 011 National.
  19. I would think that $250 would be a good starting price on one of the auction sites.
  20. No there is a pragram, you can buy & it will spit it out in the click of the mouse.
  21. I use Breeders Aid in the seed mix,I start putting it in the feed a month before I start breeding & then right through the breeding season,it not in the mix every day, twice a week.I leave it soak over night & I only put the recommoned amount in.
  22. I think the problem maybe.a biuld up of dry food, under the top beak, clean that out & it might help.
  23. If you intend to bred, for show birds, only breed with show birds. Its hard enough to breed good birds, without starting behind the 8ball with pet type birds.
  24. That is avery good set up. :celebrate:
  25. Well Richo, have you worked out if the photo above,is a hen or cock. PS anybody can have a opinion but weather they are right is the question.
