  1. sugar soap is what we use to clean walls, it gets rid of grease and all
  2. Thanks guys, yes I will keep slugging away. just can't wait to have it finished though lol.
  3. I am finding it difficult to complete my bird room, it is costing much more than I planned. I really don't think I thought about it at the start. But I need my insul bats I think 3 bags and that's not so bad but the lining wood is going to cost an arm and a leg. Figuring nearly $400.00. then I need to paint it. Once all that is done then I need to make all the breeding boxes because I have decided to stick with them because the wire cages take up to much space and make to much mess , yes I know they are easier to clean and stack away, that's their good points, But they are messy. Figured if I make the melemine (how ever you spell it) to the size I have already got I good fit about 30 cages. Wire ones about 24. Anyway still deciding, I have plenty of time.
  4. okay dean Pics please, not that I know the answer but I am just testing out a reply to see if I get shut down.
  5. Same here Dave, last week it was 33 and the babies were layed flat out spread everywhere the poor little things , I was sure I would loose them. the last 2 days it has been much better but the heat will be back. I promised my selve this time last year I would not breed this late because last year the birds that bred in the heat nearly all got french moult and I had never had it before. $ I blamed the heat through stress. Someone told me it happens when the birds get tied but these pairs were thier 1st rounds so I am saying heat and stress. My opinion only. But also I have had enough too. Can't wait to see the photos Dave
  6. Good luck with them Shannon I really like pair 3, look forward to seeing your results. How is the heat up there because I am finding it to hot here.I still have about 6 cages going and the babies are feeling the heat.
  7. The young Princess parrots are gorgeous Kaz, I am with you on the quail too. we had them in with budgies a few years ago and I reckon they scared them in the night and made them (budgies) smash into the walls at night, so I made Greg get rid on them.
  8. Thanks Rach I just hope some of them turn out special
  9. When a healthy budgie perches and is relaxed he perches on one foot a good sign to know your bird is doing good.
  10. Yes if dad is cinnamon which he does look, all hens will be cinnamon and cocks will be split cinnamon, the mum is opaline right so if dad is split for opaline you may get some opaline cocks too, but you will cinnamon oplaine and cinnamon hens. Pairings Expectations Cinnamon cock × Cinnamon hen... 100% Cinnamon. Cinnamon cock × Normal hen... Normal/split Cinnamon cocks Cinnamon hens. Normal/split Cinnamon cock × Cinnamon... hen Cinnamon cocks Normal/split Cinnamon cocks Cinnamon hens Normal hens Normal/split Cinnamon cock × Normal hen... Normal/split Cinnamon cocks Normal cocks Cinnamon hens Normal hens Normal cock × Cinnamon hen... Normal/split Cinnamon cocks Normal hens Normal cock × Normal hen... Normal cocks Normal hens The same goes for opaline as it is sex linked
  11. He seem to be doing great Kaz, isn't a pity he is a feather duster, what lovely width of head
  12. Hi Paul and welcome, I have never heard of this mutation before so find it most most interesting. Can't wait for some photos.
  13. You have bred some nice birds, I love that cinnamon cobalt cock, you can send to my place, congrats on your new chicks
  14. Thanks Dean, he as a surprise, I put down a opaline violet hen with a opaline dark green spangle, they are related on both sides. The grandmother was a sky cinn yellowface spangle (Kaz has her now) one I should of kept, Kaz has the grandfather too a dark green spangle. I sold him because I had his brother and sister and they were a bit better but his brother died a couple of months after I sold him to Kaz. These birds throw could directional feather when mated right. But cut the story short he carries yellowface so I was delighted. But looks like he will be flecked. But i don't care because it is the only yellow face in my aviary
  15. The white boy is fluffy because of his feather quality or something like that and he was in top show condition when that photo was taken. Shannon you have some lovely birds there.
  16. That is an interesting story, So I guess the birds were smuggled over their by some low life from here. poor birds. Well I am glad you rescued a few birds and I am sure they much be much happier with you than in his shed. Fancy feeding budgies wheat, it would be to hard for them to crack unless it was soaked. Some photos of yours birds would be nice
  17. Sounds like your breeding has picked up Dave, pleased for you
  18. Thank you everyone, I am counting on that opaline spangle for next year showing, so I hope he keeps his tail.

  22. Here she is Dave, she is from an outcross breeding, her sisters are nice but smaller. I put my violet cock with a sky blue hen who is a large framed hen with good chest and shoulder. She is opaline cinn violet
  23. Photos of what I am up to now in my birdroom. This is the front and the sink is going just inside the door, that's why one of the uprights has been moved over so the plumbing goes into the wall cavity, funny I have a licenced plumber doing it for me a couple of birds, he put the bathroom vanity unit in for 6 birds very cheap I thought. I made Greg pay me for them and I went off and bought the wood to line my shed. the roof Just waiting on insul bats now.
  24. Thanks Dustin and Dave, yes Dave I took one or two of her today I will post them soon, she is a lovely big hen with heaps of feather but yes very heavily flecked.
