  2. Thanks Daz, going to Shepparton shortly to buy those tablets, our chemist here does not open on Sundays. Let you know how I get on. I forgot to mention the the droppings were lime green and runny and after treating with sulfur D started going back to normal but then 24 hours later all white and this morning lime green and watery. It is so sad to watch, she is hanging in there, the other bird died within 24 hours of me noticing her. :(No Norm there is no dampness, I totally disinfected the flight yesterday. All the sick ones are isolated.Yes KathyW hossy cage heated. Thanks everyone for your help will keep you all posted on how they are going.
  3. It seems to be attacking the ones going through their first molt 3 months plus. They have been happy as larry before then I have another 4 down now and they are all molting. All the same age. I think thier molt must be hard on them and it makes it easy to catch what ever going around, who knows. the aviary is like an in door one. not open at all. Yes I wish I has a microscope, have to try and get one. Thanks Kas might PM you if I get really down Cheers Julie
  4. Hey Daz if you put doulbe factor spangle to single spangle will also improve the wing marking, more so than single single. which I have been led to beleive. especialy if you have a washy lloking single spangle like my grey one. With her next year I will put her with a double factor then the year after I will put her offspring with a normal and that is meant to bring the markings back. If she lives past this year.:fear
  5. I am loosing my babies one by one. 2 weeks ago I lost my first baby 3months old, all fluffed up on the floor put her in the hossy cage dead the next morning, Greg called it going light so I researched it and they call it megabatera. *** I have always isolated any new birds into my aviaries where did it come from. Well I thought it was an isolated case but I have have another a full sister to the first one that died 3months old also. A few more look sick I rang the av vet they are on Sulfur D till Monday Then straight to Moama to have their droppings checked, but the one in the hossy cage will be dead by then. It is so sad to watch. I have never seen any thing like it. I would like greg to put her out of her misery but he has done some type of vetinary course and he will be doing a autopsy on her once she passes away, to destroy her now might hide any symtoms, the vet told him to check the lungs and for bleeding spots etc. but she is hanging in there but you can see she won't make it. The vet will do the next autopsy but it has to be fresh not frozen. I know this sounds grim but it needs to be done so I know what's happening. I have some really nice type babies this year great improvement, but I feel I am not meant to have them because it seems the really good ones are the ones that are sick. All I want to do is CRY. I have never really had a sick bird till now and I have being breed for 3 yrs. I am totally beyound myself. :fear I hope all you guys can understand this because I am so stressed that I have had 6 UDL cans, very outer charater for me so I am a bit tippsy. and VERY WORRIED and VERY SCARED....SORRY
  6. Yes Nerwen she is pure white and difentley cinn double factor spangle as the father is split for cinn the mother is opaline spangle and I think the dad must be split for oplaine also as the grey baby looks to be opaline, I haven't ask the breeder the question yet.
  7. no Macka they look normal now, well that's in the breeding room. I haven't taken her out into the sunlight yet, her skin is pink as she really looks albino , that is why Greg rang the breeder to make sure there was no albino in her. But she doen't have red eyes now.
  8. That's right Kas can't afford to be waisting breeding cabinets plus also the price of seed these days. But steel is really a handsome little bird and his little partner is very pretty. I don't breed for the intention of pets because of the price of seed, every bird I have here is for the intention of show breeding and showing, but of coarse the majority of my young do go as pets and we only keep the best. Each year we are trying to improve by culling all the pet types in young and adult, It takes a long time but I can see a big improvement this year. You know it sometime really hurts we you have to part with a favorite, like at the moment I have this little yellow face grey spangle, really pretty bird but he is small and has a yellow tinge to the wings, so it will go as pet, but everyday he lands on me and will llye on the flloor on his back and eat his millet spray he really is a little ratbag . It is really going to hurt when he goes.

Gorgeous little birdies there luv they are also cute.
  10. I agree with Norm and Kas. I saw a lovely cage the other day but as always they make them tall not long, but I am thinking of buying it because it was areally good price, the wire is for small birds and it has a divider in the middle, so that makes it not so high. But my plan is to renovate it by lying down so the length is great and the height is not. The height is about the same as a breeding cage and the length would be at least 36inches or more but haven't measured the cage yet and it is in Barooga. But there is the proplem of the wire running the wrong way but I have that worked out. I would have to take the bottom off and replace it with wire. I have been thinking of doing this for a while now. If I go ahead with it I will send pics before and after.
  11. The grey green is very promising Norm, and the cinn double factor was hatched with red eyes. Greg rang the breeder of the parents and the father is split for cinn. And yes he said it is a white cinn double factor spangle. She has the pinkest skin really bright like albino.
  12. AHHH sounds so cute, they must of had heaps of fun. Like yesterday I wish I had the camera in the baby aviary because my little yellow face grey spangle was lying on his back on the floor eating millet spray it was sooo cute.
  13. Sorry Guys but she is differently a white cinn double factor spangle, she is pure white. Greg rang up Ian the breeder because he wanted to make sure she was what she was. The father is split for cinn. When hatched her eyes were red. I will post more photos in week or so.
  14. Yes AB he has a lovely head and he is a good size like his dad so I am hoping that this one makes it to the show bench in Sept for the uncapped shield. Xcrossing my fingers.

Wow that is really a great buy for your cage. Your new bird is lovely he is cute little guy.
  16. Recently Greg and I put down a pair of grey green Spangles, both split for blue. But we weren't expecting any blues as we both thought that would be pretty slim. So thought to myself more greens the aviary will be over flooded in greens soon. The hen laid 5 eggs and 3 were fertile which she hatched, well to both our amazement the oldest chick is a grey green normal and quite big, the second one is a grey spangle but it looks cinn but didn't have the red eyes and the third is a white cinn double factor spangle. I think the odds of that happening again is pretty slim but you never know. The 3 of them White Cinn DF spangle Grey green Grey spangle must be cinn
  17. Awwww aren't they cute, really lovely babies AB

Looks like a well fed chick to me Neat, and they are all sooooo cute, can't wait to see pics later when the colour up.
  19. Sorry to hear about your hen Norm, that has happened to me and it id heart breaking. I agree with Macka, if their on the floor in a small nest or can or what ever the cock will see them to feed. I did that a month ago and it worked like a dream.
  20. Norm here is a picture of my white double factor cinn spangle amd here siblings Her Grey green Grey spangle, does look cinn but didn't have the red eyes The parents are both grey green spangles.
  21. Poor little baby, I hope she doesn't suffer too much.
  22. I was just trying to do some research on it also as I have used it to sterilise my crop needles as I was told by a few breeders that is what they use. So I am glad it is kind of safe. Thanks Kathy
  23. Great news Neat, pleased to see that you have babies at long last, can't wait to see some pics.
  24. I will try and take some photos later today Norm and post them, She just looks like a white double factor.
