  1. Thanks Kaz but they didn't ring back but they were busy so I will ring Monday
  2. I am with you on this one GB. Up until this year I have aways finsihed my breeding in November the latest. BUT this year I still had 4 pairs down and they have only finished end of December, never agin and it's not fair on the birds either. I ran into all sorts of problems with the heat. I got french moult which I have never got before and with birds that have never had it not even as babies. and other problems too. Anyway shouldn't breed your birds in the summer months and they should be able to go into thier natural summer moult. This is my opinion only. Allso the breeder like me needs a break too.
  3. Thankyou GB will ring again on Monday, I think it's time I started hounding them
  4. I thought grey wing too but the wings looks very light, they should be darker is that right clearwing
  5. yes I wouldn't mind a bit of snow at the moment as for the next few days we are going to be 41 plus, poor birds I prefer winter than summer any day, at least you can warm yourself up but it's hard to cool yourself down.
  6. Paid my enrolment fees yesterday, well 3/4s, they told me a set price Wednesday and yesterday I went to pay and they almost charged full price :fear over a thousand dollars because I had done a Diplaome ten years ago. BUT I was lucky but they said if I had enroled next year it would be heaps because of my diploma and how the goverment has changed things. Evidently you can't study anything lower than what you have already study so in other words I need to study a advance or a degree, WHAT **** as this is a completley different feild. My diploma was for Graphic Arts, this certificate is for animal studies and any way they don't have a diploma in this course and you have to start at the bottom and work yor way up, like next year I will do animal companion Cert 111 if it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. BUT any way I went into pay and they have added on some modules from animal companioncert 111 so I needed another $168 so I told them I will pay that next week. annoyed AND the best news is I think i might have a placement at a vet clinic plus the pet shop.
  7. They probably can't find anything, which happens a lot here. It will probably turn out to be a guessing game. GB at least you are treating them so all should be fine. Do they all look healthy now after being on the turbosole and Doxy.
  8. It looks beautiful out side your but cold. How do your birds go in that condition, they would freeze thier little buts off.
  9. :emoticon112: slow aren't they
  10. Are the results back yet GB?
  11. Gee Clearwing you are popular on the the clearwing breeder, I think maybe be I better give this clearwing breeding ago :emoticon112: Violet is my choice I think now how pretty would that be a violet clearwing flying in my aviary.
  12. Hi Geoff, oops I mean clearwing and welcome glad to see you here. :emoticon112: I am sure you will be great assest to this forum.
  13. Congratulations!! cute photo
  14. I have one too , He has one leg out in front and the hip joint is red so I would say splayed. I doses parents with calcium but didn't work, the little fella is 7 weeks now and still the same all he does is lie on the floor all the time and occasional prop himself up against the wire. Greg seems to think he will learn to use his leg but I think NOT and being a cock that means he is useless. BUt he is a sweet little thing. I KNOW ONE THING I AM NEVER GO TO BREED THIS TIME OF THE YEAR EVER AGAIN AS I AM GETTING ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS. I HAVE FINISHED NOW BUT NORMALLY I HAVE FINISHED BY MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER BEFORE IT GETS TOO HOT.
  15. I, for some unknown reason thought harlequins were rainbow recessive pieds I thought I read it some where as When I first started in the hobby I had danish pieds. And I thought I read that harleqiun was pretty colours so as to rainbow. But I guess I am wrong and I really can't be bothered reading up on them at this moment in time okay just did a quick research and yes I am very wrong check out this site http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/genetics/peaksp.html
  16. I think they are a great idea
  17. I couldn't see why you couldn't drill some ventalation holes like in are wooden boxes if they sweat to much
  18. The ideal length of a budgie is 240mm that's what the standard says, which is 24cm from head to the tip of the tail. The bird should be sleek and clean with no signs of injury or disease. It should be perfectly balanced and steady on the perch at an angle of 30 degrees from the vertical. This is one of my show birds I don't know if you can see clear enough but you can see she sits right and she has alovely head and plenty of feather with good denisty, she has directly feather her only down fall is that she is a cinnamon opaline spangle so she is classed as bad variety but I have won a lot with her. Judges don't like opaline or cinnamon spangles well not around here. She is the bird in my avitar. this is her dad and he is an outstanding bird but again his problem is he has bad green suffusion but still I have won a lot with him. I hope this gives you a bit of an idea
  19. try this link if it doesn't work copy it in your browser http://www.avianweb.com/frenchmolt.html and this link may be better http://www.birdhealth.com.au/about/r-polyomavirus.html good luck with your bird sometimes they recover
  20. I am with Macka here, even in my area our pet shops only pay $8.00 and they charge $20.00 and in another town she only pays $5.00 and charges $20.00. This is culls only that are no good for anything. and they need to be pretty colours and young birds not old. I take the my older birds to our local auction also, like Macka but I haven't done this for a long time because the last time I did I took good birds and I mean good birds and only got $2.00 a bird then I had to give the people who were running it 18% so what a ripp off. But I now have enough people around town that want my culls and I have sold here too and sometimes they go to the pet shop.
  21. great photos Liv, love the lady bug and dragon flies too, Oh Perth looks nice also
  22. I thought about you the other day Kaz when they said fires near Perth. I am really pleased that the fires are under control. It's pretty scarey. Be safe Kaz and I am thinking on you and Ken and birds

  25. I have done it but it is the christmas tree thing for example half brother half sister this year bring in an out cross for next mating then go back to the line again for example cousin to cousin, aunt to nephew ect. But to do this for starters the half brother half sister need to be very good birds with gentics in the back ground that you want to come out and it's like Kaz said you need to know what what's behind them because it could turn out not what you were hoping for. The christmas tree is in out in out with the blood line you are working on.
