It's not on my main page. Am I going nutty does can anyone else see it. It's about the size of a flee and black, I thought maybe someone put a virtual insect on so we need to look after it

My Birds Are Unwell
That's great news GB in the the way that they don't have chlamydia, but mega not good either, It's funny a fews years a couple my second year of breeding I was loosing a few babies when they between 6 week and their 1st moult they became fluffed up and sick pooy bums but once they went into the hospital cage the droppings were a dark green colour then they changed to tarry colour then died a painful death, well that's what it looked like, Greg did a autopsy and found the liver was enlarged and they were nearly all from the same nest. Lost about 6. Anyway Aviarian vet couldn't find anything in the droppings so he told me to given them Trimadine which is a sulphar ( Spelt wrong sorry) based product for birds and animal with respiratory systems. And he advised me to give the birds apple cider vinagar with the mother in it also as he says it helps keep a balance in the birds and he sent me probotic also. All birds improved and I have loss any since except the accassion one. But no out breaks and I only treat when needed and I head for the sulpher based medince first and if that doesn't work more harsh treatment BUT now I have my microscope hopefully I can treat accordling now.

Ya Really Excited
I have decided to keep the microscope that I arrived. So today I unpacked it and set it up. Put the dump wrong adapter in but anyway it works, SOOOOOOOOOOO happy. Nothing shorted out or blew up to my amazement. Next step out to the aviary and pulled a feather on a french baby and after playing with dials for awhile worked it all out sort of any I managed to focus it with the 10 eye piece and the x4 fingy bob actually objective I think it is called and I screamed Greg look at this I have red mite in my birds, BUT after magnifing it higher 10 eye piece to x10 objective I think , anyway it turned out to blood . Greg was really excited so he rushed out to his pigeon coup and brought back a young pigeon and a book called Keep your pigeons flying which has illustrations of alsorts of lice, louse and what ever. Well he said can you grab that and this young bird had bugs on it so after a I managed to catch one in my fingers no it really wasn't that bad as the bird only had a few on it and Greg was treating them after I took the bug.. Anyway I put it under the scope and wow to my amazement it looked wonderful and creepy, a feather louse long and skinny minus a couple of legs that I must of tore off when trying to grab it. I wish I could post you all a image of it but I don't have a camera yet. Hopefully for my birthday which is 4 months away. BUT this microscope idea is great. Tomorrow and I going to check more feathers on my birds and some droppings. GB you can send me some soon if you want as I have ordered that book but I don't know when it will be here, Hoping real soon. If you do make it fresh and put it in say a sandwich bag then wrop it in a frew layers of foil to help stop it from drying out. That's what I have to do when I send my birds dropping to Doug Black.

Microscope Images For Diseases In Buderigars
Hi :raincloud: some of you know I got a microscope for Christmas but it only just arrived yesterday but they sent me the wrong and we are trying to sort it all out BUT in the mean time I have decided to search for microscope images of Mega bacteria, canker, Giardia, Psittacosis, coccidiosis, Streptococcus (Enterococcus faecalis) which is the most common bacteria associated with yellow belly. Enteritis and any bacteria related images. So if any one out their has any images or knows of a site on the internet that I can access I would be most grateful.

My Birds Are Unwell
So GB are their droppings like Rob said If the birds brighten up noticeably within two days, then a Psittacosis problem exists. When there is no Psittacosis problem, the medicine will depress your birds within two days and the droppings will become large, watery and turn green.. I would ring the vet and tell them that the birds look worse and yes they do drink heaps more on really hot days. Good luck GB it doesn't sound good. I hope all goes well for you.

My Birds Are Unwell
GB this piece is from Rob Marshall maybe this will help Pre-Breeding Cleansing Programme Doxycycline hydrochloride treatment in flocks with Psittacosis is very effective in improving breeding performance. “Self diagnosis” of a Psittacosis problem is possible by treating with doxycycline hydrochloride and then monitoring the response of the flock to the medicine. If the birds brighten up noticeably within two days, then a Psittacosis problem exists. When there is no Psittacosis problem, the medicine will depress your birds within two days and the droppings will become large, watery and turn green. Pre-Breeding Treatment for Aviaries with Psittacosis Continue with a doxycycline hydrochloride treatment until the droppings enlarge, become watery and turn green. In aviaries with a severe infection, this may be as long as 45 days. To maintain a high fitness level during the treatment, give high energy food, enriched with vitamins and minerals (Turbobooster, an energy supplement and Fvite) daily. Minerals can only be added when Megamix is mixed with the doxycycline hydrochloride. Scrape and disinfect the aviary once a week during the treatment. Check the dropping health visually and look at the vitality, feather colour and sheen, vent cleanliness, cere colour and eyes of the aviary birds. Following the doxycycline hydrochloride, use a water cleanser in the water for two days.

French Moult
I have had my 1st case of french moult this season, I had 4 pairs left in the breeding boxes at the end of the breeding season and I normally do not breed this late, I think Heaths right in the way that the birds immune system is down. These birds come from no french moult at all unless it is 4 or 5 generations ago. Anyway out of the 4 nest, one nest had 2 babies one with french moult and one normal and they had 2 foster babies and they were normal . nest 2 the same, nest 3 had 3 babies that were theirs and 2 babies fostered, the 3 babies that had it were the parents and the fosters were normal and nest 4 had 2 babies and 1 fostered , their 2 babies got it and the foster one didn't. Anyway I now have a microscope once things get sorted I will start checking the feathers for problems etc. will report on what I find.
