  1. okay renee It's time to make up as I am sooooo over this, you have your waying of doing things and I have mine but I am not a smart **** far from it. I relise you really didn'y aim it at me but that but that is the way it came across. As I breeder and a shower I have heaps to learn, I am always listen and try to get my head around everything. I did buy a bird from a pet shop and bred some nice birds actually one of the best hens I have but at the same time I new what I was buying and Greg was with me. BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME SMART **** the bird was part of my bloodline.
  2. But it is probably because they were hot when you took the photos'
  3. So I was right Heathrow, sorry Renee but I thought, seems you have been honest I thought I should be too. And what I see is what Heathrow sees and he is a judge. I cop it from him from time to time with my birds but it's the only way to learn, right Heathrow Even though I might like not like it but it makes me think and my birds are improving all the time. Like with my breeding program I keep strict records hard copy and computer copy and if I think I am doing good but blind to something or another Heathrow, Ian or CW will pull me into place.
  4. I thought it may be the heat. :laughter: Renee take the same pics again when Kaz comes over to help you and on a cool day as I would love to see your birds at their best.
  5. well that's good like to see them when they get older
  6. If you have asked for the pedigree of these birds and if you know how to work with sex linked varieties, you would not have this problem. I have mentioned elsewhere that I had a couple of Normal Greens that when paired in 2008 produced 100% Normal Green chicks, imagine my surprise in 2009 when I discovered that the cocks in fact were Split cinnie ... Also I do recall reading elsewhere that Dave's Gearing boy was split Ino and this came as a surprise to its breeder as the Ino gene hadn't popped out in many generations. okay as promised pics. It is a warming up to be a hot day and so they are not at their glorious best, also first time in a show cage - no matter In 2009 breeding season I focused on Mask as the main feature I wanted to breed into my birds. My Recessive Pied line that I worked so hard on last year is 100% Manno and Armstrong bloodlines or descendants, whichever way you want to look at it. Here are a couple of examples-100% Manno Red runger bred in July 09. Armstrong x Manno Blue runger bred September 09 I can see the Armstrong features, can you? Unless I come up with a better plan these 2 will go together in August 2010. Now for a few of the Blue boys. All related, 2 brothers and a cousin sharing an amazing Violet Jeff Lloyd boy as their Grandfather. Blue rungers just finally finished coming through their first moult. Cobalt (yes he is panting ... ) Violet Dommie Pied These boys are a couple of generations away from where I would like them to be. I find that with the second moult they will pop a blow but none of these are really possessing directional feather so while they will go back to the sisters they also need to go out to probably my Spangle line or even a cracker of a Normal Blue of Wayne Retzcalf's that I picked up at SWBC's written auction in December ... dunno, I will have to wait and watch them mature before making up my mind. Renee you have done a good job improving the mask BUT now you need to work on the the overal bird, fro example those pieds look narrow in the head I think the expression the key hole look, You need now to focus on width of head plus feather (like directional etc) . I could be wrong because they are only photos but it looks like they are lacking in shoulder. It looks like they are straight up and down with narrow heads but that could be the heat too. I have been honest and said what I thought so you need to get get a bird with power in the body plus width of head to improve your birds,
  7. So sorry for you loss acharris, Buzby was a beautiful boy
  8. What a wonderful idea, love and what memories you will have. When my nana passed away unbeknown to me she had left me a gold bangle one of those ones you wear on your forearm up high, I guess it was from here era where they use to wear bangles there and way I loved because it was hers and she thought of me and I also got her old doll that had never been touched. But the woolen outfit was eaten away by moths or rotted from old age, My dad won it for her when he was a young lad so it would be over 70 years old now.
  9. "I would like to add that we are extremely lucky in this State with the gorgeous quality of birds available and I have never had the inclination to look elsewhere" Actually Renee I don't mean be a stick in the mud but been a small state and ONLY having a few top breeders and I would say that most birds are probably related somehow that bringing a new blood (a bird or a few) in from another state is a good move if you feel you need new blood put into your breeding program. Like Nubbly said on another topic that dilute for example are hard to come by and someone else said so are good blue birds if I remember rightly.
  10. Renee just for curiosty, if you bought some of my birds and you were interested a little while ago, would you ask for or expect the birds pedigrees.?
  11. I like that piece Kaz and very true and my saying or what my parents taught me and I taught my boys is treat people the way you would like to be treated and the world will be a great place. Yes me too Kaz so over it. It's like talking to a brick wall :happy-dancing: I hope one day Renee you will change your mind about helping people out with their birds no matter where they buy them.
  12. I am sure you are Renee but it was this adittude here that started this off, well with me anyway. Life is not fair ... this is another example of its injustices And for any smart-asses out there who think you can pick up some good "variety" culls from my Pet Shop - Beware! You will get a horrid surprise when you try to breed them
  13. medi - swaps Skin cleansing swaps from the chemist and that stuff you said when I got home
  14. Well I thought the hobby was all about trying to breed the best and helping each other out when possible, so what if you pass on a good bird. A top breeder told me to keep my birds until they are like 18 months old but of course I don't because I don't have the room and all he said to me can you live with it and my answer was yes, could luck to the person who may turn out with a good bird. But I am trying to keep them longer now.
  15. Yes exactly right Nubbly gee I could end up with one of yours one , somehow and and I would like to know background to a degree, not shoved off. Well said LittleBudgie2005 and I would of being the same
  16. Renee you still haven't answered Kaz's question and I am eagly awaiting
  17. Not those destined for the Pet Shop, they get bought on looks alone! Arent records begun before hatching and onwards. How can you decide well before hatching that they are petshop birds and worthy of records or not ? Or do you breed a line of cr*p birds just for the petshop and just to pay for the feed for your others ? Ooops just read this, well said Kaz :laughter: :happy-dancing:  Back again....... YES Renee answer the question, stop dodging it
  18. BUT every bird I breed is in my record book whether is good or not, so it doesn't matter where they turn up the history is here for the takings but then I don't have pet type birds even though some turn out like that
  19. splat replied to brittanya932's topic in Aviaries
I have sand in one aviary and hopefully that will be cement soon and the othe 3 are cement floors, some breeders put down pine shavings nut mine are just plain cement ot sand.
  20. That's not what I meant, I am asking do you keep written records of your birds and their bloodlines. Plus bad traits
  21. splat replied to Ratzy's topic in Pet Shop Chat
Very annoying but at the same time he didn't want to listen
  22. Thank you Heathrow and your right it's about getting more people into the hobby not chasing them away because we are scared they will do better than us. Renee do you keep good records of your birds?
  23. I really don't care if someone buys one of my culls from the pet shop or from me. As long as they get a home. And as for buying any good birds from the culls even at pet shops and they were lucky enough to breed something really good that went to the show and bet..... I say good on them well done. I am still a beginner till end of this year so really how much right to I have to expect people tp pay a fortune for my birds.......... I am happy to help anyone out. Mind you I have had some good offers lately ranging from $200 - $500 a bird but of course I said no as they are my best birds so far, as that hen with the crook eye, guess I will loose her and she is my best hen.
  24. Thanks PT will do.
