  1. I agree with SW mate, I know that there are members out there that will do what ever it takes to keep their pets alive. But I on the other hand will look at it this way - Is his having Quality of life or just Life - It would be hard to make that decision - I can understand that, But i like to put myself in their shoes if think how would i feel living with pain and discomfort for x amount more months / years - It is a tough choice mate, But one that you and your family need to make, not us...... What ever choice you do make i Know i will be with you 100% of the way Remember to that not one of your choices will be wrong giving his history and health problems and the bond that you share .. 10. The Vitamin B Groups The B vitamins are energy vitamins used against stress They are extremely beneficial when the energy demands are increased during the breeding season/s and the raising of t babies. They help with the vitality of the parents during feeding and increase the growth of the babies. - Vit B1 / Thiamine is important in the production of energy. It helps the body cells convert carbohydrates into energy. It is also essential for the functioning of the heart, muscles, and nervous system. the following fruits & Veg have a significant amount: B1 Watermelon ,Peas HERBS: Alfalfa, bladder wrack, burdock root, catnip, cayenne, chamomile, chickweed, eyebright, fennel seed, fenugreek, hops, nettle, oat straw, parsley, peppermint, raspberry leaves, red clover, rose hips, sage, yarrow, and yellow dock. B1 is a very important vitamin. Although seeds are a rich source of Thiamine, it is destroyed in budgerigars with enteritis (feeding with crappy seed instead of normal seed, and unhealthy foods which contain excess amounts of sugar and starch; the liver is overtaxed and diarrhoea results; enteritis may also be part of a general chill) . Thiamine supplements are given to speed up the recovery of budgies during an enteritis outbreak. Vitamin B2 or riboflavin is important for body growth, reproduction and red cell production. It also helps in releasing energy from carbohydrates. Food that naturally contain High Amounts of B5[/b] Oranges Bananas Sweet potato Potatoes Corn Lima Beans Broccoli Cauliflower Carrots HERBS: Alfalfa, burdock root, nettle, yellow dock. B6 / Pryidoxone plays a role in the creation of antibodies in the immune system. It helps maintain normal nerve function and acts in the formation of red blood cells. It is also required for the chemical reactions of proteins. The higher the protein intake, the more need there is for vitamin B6. Food that naturally contain High amounts of B6[/b] Bananas Watermelon Peas Potatoes Carrots HERBS: Alfalfa, catnip, oat straw. Vit B9 - Folate and folic acid are both forms of B9. 11. I would like to share with you all an "article" that I have put together I will be posting them in single catagories for easier search references - I have done this - with the help from my Local Vet along with alot ... ALOT of reading reseaching and my history with Herbal remedies So here it goes: Vitamin A Vitamin A is a particularly important vitamin for the budgies, as often seeds are low in vitamin A. Vit A promotes appetite, digestion stimulates immunity and also increases resistance to infection/s It helps cell reproduction. Vit A helps vision and promotes bone grown. It also is needed for development of some hormones. Most fruits & Veg contain vitamin A, but the following fruits & Veg have a significant amount: Tomatoes ,Rockmelon, Watermelon , Peaches , Kiwi Fruit Oranges, Blackberries, Sweet potato , Kale / Spinach / Silverbeet Carrots , Broccoli , Peas , Squash NUTS Pistachios ,Chestnuts , Pumpkin Seeds , Pecans , Pine Nuts, Sunflower Seeds Almonds , Hazelnuts HERBS Alfalfa, borage leaves, burdock root, cayenne, chickweed, eyebright, fennel seed, hops, horsetail, kelp, lemongrass, mullein, nettle, oat straw, paprika, parsley, peppermint, plantain, raspberry leaves, red clover, rose hips, sage, uva ursi, violet leaves, watercress, yellow dock. There are signs of Vitiamin A deficiency, But they are faint- look carefully at the feather colour , Cere & mouth The feathers are pale, rough and lack lustre, the cere roughened not smooth, and there may be an build up of a yellow dry scale on the sides of the mouth. The most obvious sign of a vitamin A deficiency is a feather stain above the cere..( However this could also be a sign of respiratory issues) . "The following Quote was Referenced By R Marshall : Look for signs of bumble foot and scaly face mite, which are both thought to be associated with vitamin A deficiency. As with all of the other vitamin deficiencies birds with a vitamin A problem respond quickly to the supplementation of the vitamin in the water (DufoPlus). Within three days the feathers colour up and shine again and the birds become erect and alert. Vitamin A supplements are helpful in stimulating the appetite of overcrowded young and breeding birds.."

  19. The thing is like the others have said WE HAVE ADVISED YOU ... You listened when it came to the first frame of you mini aviary .. But since then you haven't .... This little aviary is: Still on the ground with no protection from mice or rats ( which WILL get in there) Still don't have mesh on all sides you have substituted with Shade cloth WHICH WILL GET EATEN You have put in a nestbox hoping to breed babies BUT IS NOT SECURE You said you had no support from your parents but Now they are buying your seeds - YOu are young and sound like a very strong head boy But you aren't looking at the picture the right way Think long term - It does sound easy breeding - Add a nest box and Poof - Babies .. It isn't that easy at all - You need to read more? and don't get so defensive we don't hate you just ( well I am annoyed) annoyed that you do not listen to what we are saying to you ..... But you look we can't tell you what to do .... So you do what ever you want to do .. But when things go wrong Don't expect me to help you out! You have been told and advised and etc so now i will wait to hear the OH NO's ...PLEASE TAKE IN WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED ... ------------ Sorry if this is harsh, But of late the young members here seem to be so RIGHT about everything and us experienced breeders that have been there done that are trying to tell you so that you don't have to go through all the bad stuff that we had too ....
