80cm by 40cm ? height and width is which measurement ? and depth ? Budgies need a wider rather than tall cage with perches running front to back so they can fly across the cage ( wider cage ) . A tall cage is one more for a canary or finch. As you havent said which way your measurements run I am still guessing on your cage requirements. I went and got a it's 1.6m across 1.9m tall an 90cm deep/width . The cage I had was 80cm Tall by 40cm deep and across. I thought it was too small
  2. That is a mad Idea!!!!!! Why didn't I think of that

Hi... I am new too. However my friend has a few aviaries and she has budgies breeding in the aviary at the moment all 6 boxes are full of eggs she hasn't had a problem with it yet she was told to have the boxes suspended so they are on a platform that is wired to the roof she was told that they like it when it rocks SLIGHTLY she has been breeding for 12 years and there are no problems there she to also has the avairy seperated for her lori's .... I thought of breeding but i rather go there and see it all happen.. But people have their own way of doing things I am sure you will find a way that works for you Hope it all goes well.

it is 80cm by 40cm.... What happens if they eat the lettuce? I was told never to give them lettuce, Avacardo or Chocolate ( Why whould you fed a bird chocolate)
  10. There is a product out called shoo Snake it is 100% organic and you spray a "barrier" so to speak and they for some reason won't cross it .. Produce Stores sell them I don't know if it'll work for your problem with the pythons but I get Red bellys and browns and so far so good. Just have to re spray after it rains ... :angel1:

After much thought and a bit of research I have decided no to breed my budgies. I swaped my female with another male ( SO they don't breed). I just want them for pleasure not profit. My question now is can I have a small suspened aviary is this enough room for them to fly ???? Do they need to bath? I haven't had this one answered either.
  12. I totally agree with you. I know that I am not ready yet, I spent all of today reading up on them and I will continue to do so. My daughter is my excuse I would love for her to experience everything life has to offer. But I will wait until I fully understand and am prepared - I had no idea what was involved before posting this message especially with hand raising. THey are wonderful birds I am happy with the 3 we have can you just tell me though why are my male birds courting each other???
