Cool... Wow your looks unreal.... Dave ( Hubby ) Put the aviary up on the deck last night and fasten timber floor so that nothing could get in or out of there. ( Will post picture of step by step )... The $2 Shop is awesome I will end up going wild in there yhanks for the heads up I would of gone to those Expensive places ... okay I haven't seen anything that is big though.... I might have to amend a cage ... Is it okay to make alteration to my nesting box I thought of a perspects lid that way i can look in with out disturbing anyone.. Also the bottom in concave do i need to add anything or is it fine to have nothing in there oh and one more question.. Are second hand nesting boxes a NO NO or can i clean them and lice spray them???? THANKS :angel1:

I'm sorry to say this Claire but how did you start. I am guessing you knew everything there was to breeding before hand...how did you learn to drive a car or drink from a cup or plait your own hair.... Animals ( including us humans) have built in maternial instincts And my dogs breed ( she was from a pound on death row and was meant to be desex) I had no idea about litters. some came out not breathing and you just kick in CPR mode... How can you shoot down ppl that want to learn.... That is just wrong.... I am learnig about breeding and I am trying to breed now I have never done it But how in the world would I ever learn .....

Hey all. Just a quickie... Prince ( New bird ) Shakes just like a cold shiver... He is indoor at night and if the weather is fine outdoors during the day.... I think he is scared... When i enter the room i talk or whistle but no matter what he shivers

Hiya. Just wanted to know if making my pair bond is fair? kinda like arranged marriage? I have a male and female or within breeding conditions they have been a a cage together by themselves for 2 days now I am guessing it may take 1 - 2 weeks for them to bond if they do .... Or should I put them back in the bigger cage with the other 5 and see what happens.. IT's just that my older males like the younger females and leave the 2 older female alone??? any help please

Hey they are mad Ideas... I am working on steeling hubbies work shop ( lawn mower shed ) for me hehehe... I only use sticks and branches in my cages and I was doing the same for the avairy.. I was told by a friend to hang a heshen bag on the inside of the door to stop and run aways which i am happy that someone else mentioned it .... My problem is the positioning of feed and water dishes I am not sure for the nesting boxes as colony breeding ekks me .... BUt what i have noticed is that in the cages ( 1.2m x 55cm) they love the highest branch... So i really don't want to rush anything and regret it later... I will start with the full clean... SHould I lice spray the avairy too as it was second hand I have my eyes on a few toys... My budgies love their swings (Laughing out loud).... so i thought of the parrots ladder i can hang one end up and the other end up so it is like a bridge and they can climb and peck at it ( natural wood and cotton stuff ) .... ANy Ideas about food containers I know there is the stainless steel ones that hang on the door... I thought about a suspended bird feeder is this okay??? or my bird bath on a stand don't know of that would fit though.. My head is pumping full of ideas.... I CAN'T WAIT ...... guess you can tell i haven't had one before (Laughing out loud)

Me again .. Just wanted a few ideas for the base of my aviary.. I want the positioning so i can always see them... I thought of cement how ever this isn't viable for the location... I have a decking that it will sit on but living in semi rural i have had snakes.... So the feed will bring mice which will bring snakes... I have this thing called shoo snake( washes out in rain) but i don't want to risk the off chance that it doesn't want to work one time and my birds are a meal... My dogs caught the last snake.... I would love to be able to clean the aviary out to stop anything bad getting in ... If anyone has a thought or a few ideas or experience in this I would love to hear from you PLEASE.....

Hey all.....again (Laughing out loud) I have been thinking of this for ages why is it that with the breeding cages, you can't have grate bottoms.. only newspaper??????? I am guessing it would have something to do with their feet.. But I don't see the difference ....Maybe the eggs.... MAybe for the food.... Wouldn't this make for alot of mess and cleaning???

Hi all.... I just found out that my 2 new budgies may have been breed from a show breeder.. So my New questions for today is. What do you do?... :hap: Are their feeds different, is there special requirements for them, do they need extra attention.....

They were shoved in a little cage at a "produce store"and they looked said so we bought them... With a show budgie does it matter if i don't show they ... I haven't a clue about that... Yeah They are pretty...How ever big (Laughing out loud) the cinnamon one is so big it got stuck in these toy rings i had to get him out and take them (Laughing out loud)....

Just curious I know budgies are orginated from (here ) Oz but I bought these 2 male budgies an man they are HUGE! with Boofy heads they don't look like a Normal budgie I am trying to get pics on here for you all to see But can anyone shed some like about this... 1 is a Beautiful Blue i think it is called Colbalt and spangles ( Black striped feathers ) and the other is Cinamon ( i think ) Brown striped feathers and a light grey.. But their eyes are in a differnt place not like on top of their heads.....
