Thanks throw back - I Colony Breed ! They have mated and etc as this isn't my first time with the whole breeding side .... But as he as been but with 2 hens with unsuccessful clutches i kinda figured that he was no good at being a "dad" .... I am guessing that is why he was at a produce store for sale I am lucky in that sense that I only breed pet budgies - Whould be a pain for a show breeder !!!
2. Hi Michelle , To me ( only a novice Breeder ) She doesn't look Young ... 6-9 weeks old I am sure one of the other breeders will be able to tell you a better time frame .... With Trainging and bonding - It is fine still the only thing that I have found is that female take a little bit longer, which isn't a bad thing it just means more time together ....
3. Thanks everyone for your welcome. This is our little boy, "Jack" He is just gorgeous and has really taken to my daughter, and her to him. He has been quite content sitting in her lap, hiding in this cloth and sleeping !His colour is a beautiful lilac body with gray and white wings. Once he is settled I will post a better picture.MichelleHey Michelle ..... Beautiful baby Budgie Jack But I think it is mokre like Jacky ( female ) But wait until someone else sees they should let you know ...I can't wait to see full body picture She sound stunning .....>>>> I should have read Kaz post before replying (Laughing out loud) <<<<<<

Thanks heaps Norm .... I thought that it was strange with the hens laying empty eggs but Prince is the only link .. I will let him be free for a while and maybe in 3 months give him another go if no good then he can be in the flight cages....

okay Back to the Infertile thing ..... Since this post Snowhite has passed over, Prince has hooked up with another and they are sitting on 3 eggs and AGAIN NOTHING !!! EMPTY .... I am assuming that he is infertile??? is there a way to check ???? He is my only Male colbalt and I have a YF hen I want to breed with
8. Hi everyone.... I am reading over and over again about the genetics and i just can't grasp it.... I am trying to produce Mauve Babies - which i understand are the darkest blue .... WELCOME !!! Beautiful & Healthy looking birds .... was there only 1 egg???
12. Don't Quote me But I am sure they aren't any good - That is why they make bird toys out of wood ... If they chew/peck/bite the rubber they will digest it this is the same with some bird toys too that have all that loose cotton thread I was at my vets and they had to pull out a tangled mess from a birds throat because of the cotton - There are hard plastic Acrylic Toys and even Dog toys that are suitable for birds - The new Wood ones have flavours for the birds too ....... Try making your own toys, this is fun for both you and the birds .....

I Soooo can understand your fustration with wanting to breed so badly - I was there over a year ago !!!! I havea few questions - Have they gone into the nestbox and had a looky around???? Are they showing signs of Mating??? Budgies will pretty much mate and lay eggs if they FEEL SAFE AND COMFORTABLE .... The dome cages are sooo pretty and etc But really aren't any good for most birds .... There is not "safety Net" ( Corners ) for them ..... If you can't get your hands on a different cage or make one try moving the nest box up higher .... If no good after 3 - 4 weeks take the box out and try again Fingers crossed you'll get a different cage by then... IF your are near Go - Lo or Crazy Clark they have Good size cages for around $20 -$30 .. But You need the right set up to get going .... Just like us a few candles & the right place and we are ready .... But once those eggs come it is worth the wait !!!!!!
20. Hi Karthik - I would call this NORMAL .... That is a budgie having a "Nanny Nap"you will find that if you are housing more then 1 they will all roughly Nap together ..... It's pretty funny the first time you see this some look like they have no heads : ) But this is a Normal, Happy Budgie snoozing
21. Sunny is Very Pretty .... YF2 Colbalt .... Is that a patch at the back of her head ... ( would lead me to believe she could also mb DP )
22. I have I think bamboo growing - Heaps ... Peppermint trea leaves Hmmmm ...... I need to look at the pics to make sure .I don't want to poision the little buggers ......
23. Ohhhh Kaz * released grop of edge of her seat... I read the title and assumed that they were siameze twin BUDGIES .... LMAO .... Ohhh it is grand to be blonde ... I remember back to Feathers tittle when I though it read plague when it was Plaque .....
24. BEAUTIFUL I Wuv Babies ....... Phat Tony looks female to me too : ) and I will have her any day
25. Hey. I am not too sure if this is a help to you but funny enough I had ( she passed ) an angel too and she went completly feral when it came to breeding ( I colony breed ) and when she was ready to lay agin she attacked another box ( with small chick They survived ) But still any time she came into breeding condition no one could go near her .... Now her Daughter (angel 2 >my daughter named her (Laughing out loud) >) is in the same spot she is in condition and sits up the top of the aviary and if any bird goes near she is squeaking and flapping and the works ready to peak ...... I think it is a protective thing .... This is just from my opinion though But if she has settled with the curtian see how she goes .....
