  1. A lot of my birds pull out chest feathers when they sit on eggs too, Neat. Not all of them just some :budgiedance: Yeah mine too But the 2 that are breeding at present have their Vents FLASHING (Laughing out loud) .... I read up on the english breeds and this is where they trim the vents ... I might do this with Prince as he is the "English ./ Show"type and could be the cause of those Clear eggs I had

The common body temperature of a budgie is about 41°C in the inner parts of its body. The feet's temperature in general is about 39°C. Just try to get familiar with the sensation the temperature of his feet when he stands on your hand the next time. Keep in mind how it feels and use this temperature as the reference
  6. Hmmmmm ... How old is she and are you colony breeding??
  7. Took me a while to find something like this ... I've done your hard work Jimmy (Laughing out loud)

Panic makes the heart beat faster and also makes the body temperature rise. Shortly after the bird feared something or after extensively flying around, the feet cool down until they reach their average temperature .... If the budgie's feet remain hot for a longer period, most probably an infection of the kidneys
  9. Hey Guys thought I'd share some informationhat I found whilst researching ..Again ..... It is a good read and hopefully you will be able to use it too .... MATING TABLE
  10. Got ths info re: 1 or 2 budgies ....Some food for thought .... Budgies are flock creatures. This is one of their most defining aspects. Budgies need to be part of a flock and it is cruel to keep a budgie lonely and isolated. It is perfectly fine to keep only one budgie as long as you plan on taming him (or her) and you and your family can interact with him/her every day. In this case, you and your family will become your budgie's flock, and he or she will form a very close bond with you. If you have a male budgie, he is likely (but not guaranteed) to learn to talk in this situation. Your budgie will become a beloved household pet. However, if you and your family do not plan on keeping a tame budgie and do not plan on interaction with the bird(s), you must keep at least two together. You can keep any combination of males and females together, but I recommend at least 50% males. The budgies will become a flock and will interact, chirp, and sing together. They will be enjoyable to watch and to have around. But no matter what, a budgie should never be kept alone and isolated without interaction from it's flock (whether it be it's human flock or budgie flock) on a permanent basis.
  11. One possible cause for infertile eggs is that the hen laid the first clutch too soon, before the cock mated with her. Try blocking off the nest box for a few weeks, then allow her to lay a second clutch and see if they have better luck. If the male is an English budgie, make sure the feathers around the vent are not so long that they cover the vent, preventing insemination. If the feathers are too long, trim them carefully with scissors, leaving the down showing around the vent. Make sure all the perches are stable and do not wobble or roll. If the pair produces two clutches of infertile eggs, remove them from the breeding cage and consider trying them with different mates or waiting until a later date to try again
