  1. I might agree on this one sounds like another bird/Animal from the outside of the avairy cage < Budgie may have been sleeping and not seen it coming>
  2. Neat replied to Chris's topic in New to BBC
Welcome, they sound like What the others have said they may have been tame and the prior owner lost interest ... Your Hen allowing you to tounch and stroke her is a great step for both of you :hap: But I do agree if you are wanting to hand tame them to have their wings clipped, This is a SAFETY factor : do they get on your finger yet???? Try offering some millet on your hand and see if they come ... or come close over time they will be very tame it take alot of time ( them being 2 years old ) paitence and dedication ... They are alot more quieter and tame during the evening ( i have noticed this too ) but... My Word of Advice is do the taming 30mins each day at the same time everyday this will help you ......
  3. HI welcome to the Forum ...... Parents sound like they are doing a great job, and you too , I might add to the Awesome Advice already given is more softer feeds, try soaking some seed, Egg and Biscuit mixes and even some brown breed this make it easier on the parents to digest softer feed which then makes feeding the bubs alot easier and quick .....

  12. Good Evening All, Here is a question that has had me stumped for the past 2 days ..... I went and check the Hens eggs ... ( not all good mostly Unfertile : ( ) But one took me for a suprise I candle them and just put them back in however this one made a noise like a rock was in side of it .... I checked it out there was no hole or anything I came out of the avairy and it cracked in my hand ???? The YOLK WAS ROCK SOILDED .... Not one bit of wetness at all ....... It has been getting very cold lately ( tonight it is now 10oC ) could the hen have sat that tightly and cooked it ?? I know it seems like a stupid question But I have another one for you: Another hen that has 1 infertile egg ( so far) doesn't have a yolk in it instead (when candled) it has 5 -8 little tiny bubbles kinds like fish eggs caviar (sp) But they are clear ??? Your thought please

  17. Neat replied to CaspersRose's topic in Food And Nutrition
Totaly agree with Norm, on that one, A few things to add . If you have the slim tube water when you see him playing in it add a little container of water he probably want to bathe himself ..... If you are really concerned add a little ( AN I MEAN A LITTLE) pinch of salt to his food
  18. Until now I thought that the Blocks that have the mineral and Calcium were better then eggshells as it as more then just Calcium in it ..... I learnt something New today ... YAY ..... I might give the making a go too seems It would be better in the long run both being cost effective and I know what my birds are getting ...
  19. Neat replied to ShadowGhost's topic in Budgie Talk
I think you should do both, get an aviary ( i rent too ) and Put a plate of food out of night for the possums, Or get the Humane traps and rehome them ...... Check your roof too as they can get in there aswell.....
  20. Alrighty Maesie, No3 ....... Norm, I moved from my old house to his house where I am now ( a suburb away) it was the advise I was given from here ......
  21. WOW !!!! You look like you were having a ball ...... I have only ever been to the east of Australia .... I would love to visit Bali ... Look just like Heaven
  22. why do i breed, well I breed for a number of reasons .... Curiosity: I wanted to experience what it was like and got hooked The genectic side of breeding : Creating, and seeing the difference types of mutations - and understanding it Pleasure: Of watching my and hearing them, Getting Back what I put in: Seeing the faces of family members that can interact with their new family member is priceless - Especailly the kids ... Dylan & Talia Love to give the birds ( hand tame )kisses Bliss: Seeing the whole cycle of breeding is amazing, Hens turn their eggs and they know which one needs turning which one needs more warmth which ones are no good - How great the Cocks are at their fatherly chores - feeding the hen, knowning which seeds and etc they need more off - when you look at it like this and feel the way I do about it it's unbelievable - I can't put my feelings into words but this was pretty close to it ........
  23. Peg the Doors and you can get these Elastic Material things call seed catchers I think that is what they are called ... The go around the base part of the cage this should help incase it happens again ..... Most liekly a cat as Possums aren't usually active during the day
