  1. Exactly…that's what she is saying.
  2. Neat cocks can be split for TCB as they are saying, so if you are getting TCB chicks from non TCB birds it must be the cock that is split & all the chicks will be hens…the usual sex linked result.
  3. They look great Kaz, like the others are saying pity your on the otherside of the country, I might need some good stock.

That’s in a perfect world Ikon, that’s what a good percentage of birds I have bought have turned out like, that’s why most of especially the good looking ones get sold. I find out you have to take the good with the bad, some turn out great & then you can think yourself lucky.
  5. Humans being what they are sadly I think I would agree with Ikon. If you want to increase the Mutation you could mate it back to the opposite sex parent & also mate it so a couple of unrelated birds then mate the half brothers & Sisters back to it & each other, that would increase the chances of increasing numbers.
  6. Once they are lopsided like that when they fly I think it hurts them a bit so then they keep picking at it to try & stop the pain. Maybe keep him in his small cage for a while & don't let him out so that he tries to fly.
  7. I think it’s very difficult to say why, maybe they just fell out for some reason, you would think that if he pulled them out there would be some damage on them & that doesn’t seem to be the case. They say that some pull some of their feathers because of boredom. I have seen some birds with no feathers in one wing like that, but usually they were birds that had had a virus called French Moult & this only occurs when they are very young & have just left the nest, but he is already an adult. If there’s no underlying problem when feathers are pulled out completely like that they should grow back in a couple of weeks.
  8. I wouldn’t let it worry you MB, I think it’s pretty academic anyway. As it only works out over very large numbers of chicks. It’s suffices me enough to know what you have the possibilities of getting from a particular mating…even with Recessive Mutations you can get three in a batch when it’s supposed to be 25% or even less & then you may never get another of that Mutation again, as we never breed such large numbers from a single pair.
  9. Welcome to the forum Tess...I can't make any comment as for some reason I can't see any of the pictures.
  10. It certainly would Liv, Ino is lack of Melanin & Black [as in a crow] would be total Melanin. Don't go doing that Neat…we might not even recognise it's you…Nasty Norm…forget I said that I wasn't thinking.
  11. SPORT… in this meaning is something that occurs suddenly that is different from the normal…they would probably have genetic meaning unless they came about by some sort of external damage. You must be thinking of Throwbacks Cinnamon with the breast stripes Neat, this could be called a Sport...but maybe it's also a Mutation. A Sport could be just another name for Mutation.
  12. Yes I would be looking after it real carefully too. Often new Mutations are more delicate too I’ve read.
  13. In my experience Kaz, often if I throw the eggs out they seemed to go off & sometimes don’t lay again for months, but if I give them a chick from another batch they lay again as soon as it’s raised. Or if I let them sit till they give up & throw them out themselves they seem to go down almost straight away. But of course birds vary lots in what they will do.
  14. It would have been a Mutation & they don’t happen along very often, the more birds bred the more chances I think, but it really isn’t something that you can plan for. Then if it ends up dieing it would break your heart.
  15. As others have said some of the heavier show types seem to have difficulty in flying, maybe because of their weight or their feather quality. You would have to breed him in a cabinet & I would recommend mating to a hen that can fly real well.
  16. Very observant Sailorwolf, I never noticed before…I can answer some questions but not all…LOL…looks a bit like the perch was superimposed over it.
  17. I read where those ones in The Netherlands often bred Recessive Pieds, Recessive Pied does strange things to feathers, so something might come out of them one day…I don’t breed them much maybe I should.

Welcome to the forum, here is how you post pictures on this site… RESIZING PICTURES Posted Pictures are to be no larger than 640 x 480 pixels. How to Post Pictures.....Signatures and Avatars Drats it didn't work go to one of Kaz's posts & click on How to post Pictures... For identification of Mutations post under Mutations.
  19. If you go to that link provided by Kaz above at the top of her post & scroll down you will get quite a good picture of a Yellow BES Sailorwolf. In Australia & maybe in other countries, mostly they have got the Cinnamon Gene included which helps remove their wing pattern. I have some of the Mutation, but not good examples, maybe in a couple of years when I breed them up. In the Yellow I think they try to keep a good strong Yellow colour & I think you have the three grades...no Dark factor...one Dark Factor...& two Dark Factor & the ideal is with as little Green suffusion as possoble.
  20. As The Buddha said life is suffering…that’s why people get stuck on drugs…if you want completely pain relief Lonebudgies “24 ounce hammer” sounds as good as any...LOL...
  21. TB you put your foot in it didn't you...condemned yourself…LOL…no I don't think it's lack of a life…I have found that even in any club it's often the busiest people that put up their hand to do the work…while the other just complain. Often I get stuck on here trying to help people out, as I enjoy it, when I should really be elsewhere doing some work, but I get the work done sooner or later…certainly you couldn't label Kaz as a person without a life & where would the forum be without her…if it's going to be a race as to who gets the most posts I'm going to hit a smiley every few minutes…
  22. I agree with Kaz he would be talking about BES.It's a Dilute.

Really nice chicks Neat, you were pretty lucky that you paired your TCB hen with a split TCB cock, can't be too many of them around. Did you get third & fourth pictures around the wrong way, as the third looks more like a TCB & Fourth looks like a Normal? The one TB picked out looks like an Opaline Violet Greywing to me.
  24. I agree with what you said Sailorwolf…with Budgies it seems the more the merrier, in a good year in the outback they breed up in flocks of many thousands & as you may have seen in films they fly in amazing flocks & at terrific speeds. My aviary that has the biggest number of birds is the noisiest & that’s where they land all over me when I enter, they are so brazen & chirpy, I can’t stay in there too long as they are all over me it gets uncomfortable, it’s better sitting outside just observing them.

Comon Pie no price would be high enough I'm sure…that was a good offer to Kaz, you could have kept any chicks they bred while they were there…dam she was onto you & it didn't work…
