My Little Man
Well that shows you it all ain't about genetics, there's always the chance of getting something good out of rough stock… Libby do you have to be so crude? When I was 15 I "must" have looked as cute & I can’t remember being attacked by the wild animals of which you speak…sadly.

Rats Again
Don’t worry dogs eat lots worse things than freshly killed rats, if they are not supervised, they are real garbage guts. I used to have a team of miniature foxies, they were good at catching rats & mice, strange though they loved eating mice, but would never eat a rat for some reason. I’m glad your getting on top of them rats anyway Kaz, one way or the other, should be a bit quieter around there.

Baby Photo's
Looking really healthy Neat, going well.

My Little Man
That’s good to hear, lets hope he continues on being interested, not enough young blood around of late, they must be hooked on those PC’s like you say. Best instil in him that it’s more important to see how well he can go with improving his own birds as a personal satisfaction, rather than get too competitive, as then if they don’t win first off they can loose interest…yes those other birds can be a distraction at least for awhile…LOL…

Rats Again
Just my two cents on this…I’m for any way of preventing cruelty to anything where at all possible. But having said that, rats & mice [wild ones] have been pitting their wits with humanity from the beginning of time & we still haven’t beaten them & we have thrown just about everything we can at them. If we stop the war, it will be us that soon go under, as I’m sure they wont give us one moment’s thought as they take over. I’m all for morality, kindness & compassion, but then there’s the real world.

First Clutch
1. You are right a Dominant Pied Blue probably Cobalt like Dad. 2. Another Dominant Pied Dark Green like Mum. 3. You are right again a Normal Blue, probably Cobalt like Dad. 4. Probably a Normal Dark Green like Mum maybe without Pied as a bit young to tell. 5. And as you say too young.

New Cages

Cinnamon Babies
Like Dave said looks more like a Spangle Neat…look at the two main tail feathers are they white? If so it’s a Spangle.

Hen Laying Again ...
It might be a bit quick Neat, but I think hens know when their eggs aren’t good, as some will put the bad ones away from them & wont even sit on them. So maybe she was just about to leave them when you tossed them away.

Tcb Pairing Outcome!
Yeah Libby I looked at my two Normals yesterday, I only have two Normal TCB’s the rest are Opaline & you may be right.

Rats Again
Sorry to hear that news Kaz, I’ve had trouble in the past where they pulled the legs of Canaries through the bars of cabinets. I discovered a young rat in one of my bird rooms the other day & it ran behind the cabinets, I put some poison down & some was eaten but haven’t seen any signs of it again, so I hope I got it. I hope you don’t have any more trouble.

Tcb Pairing Outcome!
I don’t want to curse one of them by choosing really, but I like the Yellow ones the best, anyway it might be a hen & you can call it Norma. I couldn’t get at what you were meaning about the feathers, were you meaning that even though they look a bit Spangle you think they are still Normals, but with altered feather colour. I know to be Spangle either parent has to be a Spangle, but the Lutino could be almost masking anything.

Tcb Pairing Outcome!
They look great Libby, amazing luck getting one of each colour in all the mutations, I can’t believe it. The TCB’s look like they have Spangle in them also. I was thinking of breeding them with a Spangle at a later date to see what they would look like. I still haven’t been able to breed a Blue TCB yet, mated one of mine to a Blue Opaline & he was split for Blue but in two batches I didn’t get one Blue. I haven’t got your luck by the look of things.

Opaline Spangle
The others are right those are what a good Spangle is supposed to look like. The paler ones are what are considered show faults. Good purchase, lets hope you can breed some good ones from her.

Pet Shop Rescues!
I wouldn’t worry about picking anything off Libby; once the mites are dead their natural system will shed all the dead stuff. Once birds are treated for air sack mites it’s amazing how quick they look good. Such at relief for the poor buggers

Sawdust?
I think all these things are good, the main thing is what’s easy for you to get, I don’t think sawdust is much of a problem, as the dust they make themselves is far finer than that. I have even used crushed up termite nests, when I used to have finches that needed live food & I fed them termites. After they ate the termites I used the rubble in my nests.

My Place
I agree with you Libby…shows lack of self-control…must be easily led. Thanks for sharing Lonebudgie looks good nice birds.

5 Out Of 5 Hatched
Going great Neat we’ll make a stud breeder out of you yet…are you sure that first one isn’t a new Mutation? Sort of baby Crest!!!
