I’ve been around here for quite some time now & haven’t seen anything Daz or *Daz* has done that could upset anyone…it’s sad that people can be like that… Good on ya Neat for your diagnoses of what type of syndrome it was…ha! Ha! Ha!.
  2. French moult is caused by a virus, it effects birds while they are young in the nest & then soon after they leave the nest the flight feathers fall out when they try to use them as they are weakened by the disease. Most in my experience will quickly grow back their feathers & can fly, but some never do & then never can fly properly. You can only wait & see. Once they recover in my experience they are just like normal birds & then are immune. It's not a good thing to buy birds that have it, as now you will have introduced it to your birds. Once you have it I think you have to basically live with it, it's nuisance but most birds get over it. Some people use sprays to try to control it but I'm not sure if it works. It's very common in Budgies. White birds with Red eyes are called Albion, as others have told you…Yellow ones are Lutino. Some other Mutations have Red eyes Fallows, some have reddish eyes when real young in the nest, Cinnamons but then it darkens. Recessive Pieds have Plum coloured eyes. If your bird really had been Egg bound it would have died by now, if it didn't pass it's egg.. But some birds get problems with their oviduct & once this has happened they probably wont be any good for breeding again. But also some build up fatty tissue, once again these may not breed.
  3. I agree with the others, they are all really nice birds, but as with some others I like the Green Opaline the best…looks a really nice hen. That first bird looks like a Dilute to me, it could even be a Black Eyed Self with a lot of Green suffusion. She's too good a hen for that Liv...she might get damaged by the stamp on the head :hap: if she was going to take that risk she could send her to me... I Know...I Know you got in first...sob...sob...sob. I'm sure she ain't going to part with her so I guess it all academic.

Wooh! I bet that's going to be elaborate?

Good luck with your TCB's Sunnie, it will be interesting to see how they go.

The one in the picture looks like a young bird. If they keep coming for a feed You could put some feed in a cage & trap them, as there’s no way they could exist wild in low temperatures like you say. It looks like you are just feeding Sunflower in your feeder, it would be better to feed a mix grain, even to wild birds as birds love Sunflower, but if they eat too much of it, it can be fatal to them, as it is very high in fat. Welcome to the forum.

 The Indians wear a sort of piece of cloth, traditioally, but even though I bough one I didn't get to wear it. Can't remember what they're are called.

I hope you have luck with them, did they stop at only three? That’s a bit strange maybe it’s their first batch, anyway if those eggs fail hopefully they will go down again fast. The only thing I have found in the cabinets, especially I think with the show types is to watch carefully when the chicks leave the nest. I have had a few start chasing the chicks & had to remove them quick, some got picked in the head. Looks like a nice pair.

You guys have been so nice, welcoming me to your dream world, that now I don't feel I can criticize all your rampant consumerism & crazy desires, I thought you would all be just happy breeding your Budgies & watching them every day that you wouldn't have any need for all those extras. Sailorwolf you could have your free flying Budgies on this dream island, as I'm sure it would look that nice that they wouldn't even dream of flying away. Also when I was young they were doing experiments with free flying Budgies in England, where they set them up already breeding & let them free fly & they would return like homing pigeons. Not sure if anyone is doing it these days, I guess there would have been some losses. Also after all the things said about Pet Shops I'm surprised it's one of the first things you want to set up in this dream world. I know of course it would be first class if Elly were in charge. Kaz thanks for the offer of a joint breeding enterprise, but I feel your spoilt birds would get a shock if I were helping look after them. The talking ones would say get out of here bring back that other girl, she was nice. As for Ken having a cat & dog breeding centre, I used to live next to a dog kennels & it certainly wasn't paradise & with cats thrown in, there certainly would be some action going on…LOL. okay here it is...took my long enough to find it so hope it was worth it. okay here’s my shack with me standing in front of it…changed your mind now about me moving in haven’t you…got you scared now. Samudra Beach Kovalam Kerala India. 2004.

Welcome Newbie…there’s something real familiar about you, I just can’t grasp what it is…like someone said I feel I’ve seen those birds somewhere before. Look forward to hearing your story.

Such extravagant desires, how are we ever going to save the planet when you are so hungry? And Neat turn off some of those lights, think of the co2…sorry I know you wanted to forget the real world for a while. I have a picture of me standing in front of a Palm frond shack, but it would take too long for me to find it. I would move into it, between Neat, Liv & Birdluv’s places, but I’m pretty sure you would get on to the council & have me bulldozed out of the way, for lowering the tone of the area…
  14. Hi Pie…I think it’s pretty Dominant, it’s the same as Grey, They say if your not careful with Grey they will Dominate your aviary. I seem to have got a large number of them already in my aviary, but maybe that’s because they are often nice big birds & lots of the better type birds I have bought have been Grey Greens. Having said that, even if you mate a Grey green with a Light Green you should get a proportion of Lights, just that all breeding isn’t as simple as getting one of one type & one of the other, often in my experience you get batches or runs of a certain colour or Mutation expected, then it can switch & you will get a run of other colours. I have often had a pair have something like three of one colour in a batch then even if you breed them a few more times you don’t get that colour again. All percentages are taken over large numbers of birds bred & we often only take small numbers from our pairs.
  15. Congratulations Liv, keep up the good work.

I think it's only a myth. I haven't seen any evidence of it.

Thanks for that Daz, I had heard it was changing, but still hadn’t heard the actual date.
  18. Your right Neat like that nice young chick of yours, but they are not all so good, it’s just a show fault…there’s lots of variation, some almost no markings some light others good strong Black markings. Also some have the Blue replace the Black in their markings another show fault. Could also be split for Opaline.
  19. Norm replied to Angelic Vampyre's post in a topic in Budgie Talk
You can look at it another way also…if they have actually been neglected for some time…all the weak ones would have died out. Only the strong left...you can live in hope...looking at it in a positive way.
  20. Norm replied to Neat's post in a topic in Breeding Tips
Always gotta be some make it difficult …LOL…
  21. Probably the Darkest Grey would be a Mauve, but I'm just guessing too Neat.
  22. I agree with the others it’s a Green Spangle. As to what chicks paired to an Albino. Albino makes it difficult, as we don’t know what she is masking. If the spangle is split for Blue you could get both Green & Blue birds, if he is not split for Blue all Green chicks something like half will be Spangles. Anything else it’s impossible to say.

Nice chick...very good Spangle markings...I think Neat is right looks like a hen to me too.
  24. They say you can get Double Factor Grey…Grey to Grey, it probably will increase the depth of colour. Both Grey & Violet I think it's all about selection…like breeds like [genetics] so it's about selecting for the colour you want, either you buy a bird with the required colour you want or select each time for the best you have & hopefully the colour will improve. Also I think the best Violet you can get is a Cobalt Violet, so maybe it depends on which colour phase you have either Sky, Cobalt or Mauve. That’s my thought anyway Neat.
  25. Norm replied to Neat's post in a topic in Budgie Pictures
Looking good Neat, I especially like my YF Violets it a nice mutation…your Spangles have really good wing markings.
