Any One Breed Cockatiels?
Try again Norm, I have re-sized it, it was too large I see it now it looks a great complex. Egg inspection is not a problem with them, they will hiss & sway, but they wont desert or anything like that. The hen sits at night the male during the day.

Zebra's Baby - Benjamin
My wife & I used to got out eating, mainly Chinese food about once a month, but when our first girl arrived she was 2 years old before we were game to go anywhere. The first time we went to a restaurant, by the time the food had arrived she was screaming & the poor waitress tried to pacify her while we bolted down our food & rushed home again. Don’t think we went anywhere for a long time after that. Our kids were like watch dogs too, if strangers came visiting they scream their heads off…the fun of raising a family.

Sunny Update As Requested - All Good News
It has to be the one with natural Raspberries in it, the artificial ones are useless get the one with the highest content of Raspberries, I think about 30% is recommended. I could only find one with 25% Cascade, but I made it stronger to compensate.

My New 2nd Hand Aviary
Looks good Neat, looks like a sliding door to me not a roller door…looks like it will need a safety area door looks pretty big for the size of the aviary, very easy for birds to fly out as you go in or out. I have aviaries that are joined & these days I have so many “tame” birds that ride on my back & move from aviary to aviary if I’m not careful. PURPLE sounds great.

Zebra's Baby - Benjamin
Sometimes it’s hard, the problem is at that age all they love is their Mum, slowly their world expands, I guess all you can do is give them plenty of love & make them feel secure.

When I Grow Up
At least with this post we are finding out the ones we have to be careful with, when saying anything about their Budgies…taking notes, be careful Neat & Pie. Jokes aside it sounds like your life must be pretty interesting Pie, especially for a girl, must not be too many female “doggers” around…I love the Dingo, but understand they must be controlled at least.

Zebra Finches
After they leave the nest it will only take a week or two before they are independent & can feed themselves. Zebras have Black beaks when young which will turn Red when they mature, the Cock birds will get coloured cheek patches & spots down their side under the wing area. The hens will just get Red beaks. They are best kept together as they are very social birds, but stopping them from breeding if a pair will not be easy. They like a nest even to sleep in & keep them warm at nights, so it would be hard as I say.

Zebra's Baby - Benjamin
He’s looking good Zebra, despite what you say about having no time, the fact that your thinking of breeding Budgies again, must mean you have got this baby thing under control. Sadly Zebra no matter what you do one day some girls will “steal him” away from you…& you wouldn’t want it any other way. You have a few years of enjoyment yet. Although when you look back on it, I tell you they fly. My eldest daughter turned 39 the other day, I told her I can't believe it.

Chick With Air In Crop:
Thanks guys, seeing I had never had it before, at first I was worried that it was like a disease, but as it appears normal now it must be just a simple problem, I will note it on it’s records & watch out. I read on some sites that it can be cause by inexperienced parents that could be the case. The mother is a bird I bought, because of her age she must have been a first timer & the first time she had babies the first two died, from her not feeding them & I removed further chicks to foster Mum’s & gave her some larger chicks which she successfully raised. She is the hen that was very aggressive with cocks & she had a few infertile batches, but I introduced a new young cock, who I had to introduce with a wire screen between them as she was chasing him at first, but after two days they have got on well, but he doesn’t enter the nest too much, maybe it is his first goes at feeding causing the problem.

Any One Breed Cockatiels?
I breed Cockatiels myself, I have read if you breed them colony style you should have at least three pairs, if your aviary is big enough. My aviaries are about three metres long two metres high & 900mm wide. But I have found it better to breed a pair to the aviary. They are different in one way than Budgies, I found it’s the males that are the problem, you always have a Dominant one, that’s why they recommend at least odd pairs as if only two one male will hound the other. I had one male that killed the other pairs female because he wanted her & she didn’t want him. I noticed it but before I could remove her it was too late. I can't see the picture of your avairy, as others seem to...I don't know why but some pictures don't download for me.

I Feel Like Breeding Again...
I think it’s the most interesting part of the hobby Zebra, if I were you I would go ahead & do it. The only thing is that if you breed more than you can comfortable keep there is the problem of selling or getting homes for your excess, so you have to think about that side of it. Especially with you starting a new family, as even seed is expensive here now & will probably get even more expensive. I guess it’s not much different there. I put my bird keeping on hold while I had little kids, because of the expense & only kept things like chooks that we could eat or get eggs from.

Chick With Air In Crop:
I have read on here how some have had small chicks that had air trapped in the crops. I had never had that experience before, but some days ago I had a chick that was about two weeks old, with pinfeathers, it was the middle chick of a batch of three. All had been well but then one day when I inspected the nest box, the middle chicks crop was a massive size, like a balloon with little feed in it. I gently pressed on the crop & most of the air was expelled, some bubbles occurred in its nostrils. I then returned it to the nest, the next day it was exactly the same. This day I did nothing. I searched on the net, but didn’t find that much & mostly what I found was on small chicks & chicks that were being hand reared. On the third day the amount of air was much reduced, so I just left it in a couple of days it was back to normal. I removed the smallest chick to another batch, as I thought it might help in some way, whether this had any effect I don’t know. Anyway all seems well again, so I thought I would just let you know for your knowledge…has anyone got any thoughts on the matter or had similar cases.

Finally - My First Green Budgie!
I would think that issuing a certificate of health might be a risky thing…it might be taken as a guarantee & once birds leave your hands anything can happen, as you have no further control over them & things can change very rapidly. I think you do your best to deliver a bird in good condition, but after that I wouldn’t be taking on any guarantee. So far I have bought a couple of birds that looked healthy in my opinion, but died in a couple of days & no one has ever offered to replace them for me.
