Splats Df White Spangle Cock Breeding
Happens far too often with show budgies doesn't it?

Greywing To Dilute Pairing
i agree with what Splat says above. the Dommie pied part fo the deal is a 50:50 ratio of getting pied chicks. As for colour, is the cock split for blue? If so, then blue greywings, or blue greywing dommie pieds are possible, if not, they will all be green. All should be split dilute as well.

Break It To Me Gently
What a journey with this breeding couple. A lot of us have heard the whole "Unless you are producing feather dusters, you are not producing birds with good enough feather". When you read this thread and see where the sister has gone, makes you go "hmmmm, interesting, maybe it is true........." Well done Liv.

New Guys With Scaley Face..
Mites can kill a budgie, in many ways. You say her toes dropped off? That may well be due to the mites getting under her skin, so when they were killed, there was nothing really left to hold the toes on. I have seen this with nails, and I imagine the toes would be the next step up from that. Mites with birds with rings, cen get in under the rings and cause problems there, leading to infections as well. The mites can initially be the problem, but they provide an oportunity for infection to occur. If you have been treating the other two, they ahve been quarantined for 6 weeks, I think you have done well. We are not there so we cannot offer you the 100% correct advice on how you proceed, but it sounds to me like you have done everything right, and the next natural step is introduing them to your flock. Well done on all your effort. Alway sad losing a bird, especially a nice hen who seemed to be recoering well, but you did what you could, providing a better opportunity for life than she had in the shop. She was too far gone it seems. I look forward to pics of the two boys in the aviary with your others.

Green Tail?
How about some more pics of the mysterious green tail so we can see the progression?

Wattle Flights
He really does look like that in real life, not just in the picture. It is tough, as I love that coloring the most - a bright blue spangle - but I have a few of them, so some might need to go - tough really.

Is This Feather Mites?
It is impossible for us to know without either seeing the bird in person, or minimum a picture. Do you have any ivermectin? One drop of this on the back of the head should kill any mites. If you do not, go and see a vet. They can give you some ivermectin for this, and apply a drop whilst you are there.

Mama With New Babies Feathers Are Gone And I Can See Skin.. Help!
This is absolutely normal. Mothers will often pluck the feathers off their chest and body to allow the heat from their body to go directly to the eggs, rather than dissipate through the feathers. This is a sign of a good mother bird to me. Do not worry. The feathers will grow back as she recovers from the streeses of breeding.

Houman, did you even read the thread or just write something? Sootie died. Whilst it is not expected that you show any type of grief, typing jokes or making comments that are innappropriate on a thread like this hardly seems appropriate.

Introducing...
I know that on here we are often critical of vets, and I am the first to jump in, but it seems that the vet did do his best. Could he have done something different? Maybe. There are obviously multiple factors that played a role in this situation. Ultimately, Sootie (BBC) did the right thing taking Sootie(bird) to her vet. Sometimes I think we expect vets to do the impossible. When we go to the doctor, the first thing the doctor says is "what's wrong?" and "where do you feel sick?" Vets do nto have this luxury, there is a lot more guess work. Birds also go downhill a lot faster than people, their ability to cope with illness is not as good, and by the time they actually show signs of illness it is often too late. Imagine if everytime we got a runny now, we were to die in the next 24 hours? Scary hey? Anyone reading this needs to remember that if your bird is sick, regardless of what you read on here, one of the most important things you can do is to take your bird to the vet.

Introducing...
Unfortunately things have not gone well for Sootie, in fact, they have gone as bad as they have. About a week ago Sootie stopped eating and was drinking a lot. Sootie was taken to the vet and the vet diagnosed the bird with renal stress. Sootie was given an injection and kept warm, but it seems that some of her organs, probably kidneys, had given up, and she passed away. I have spoken to owner of Sootie, also named Sootie, through email over the week multiple times. As the person who gave her Sootie, I have been feelign terrible. Sootie's brother Monster is fine and shows no illness flying around the aviary. This seems to be a one off case of poor Sootie being born with poor kidneys that just seems to stop working one day. Sootie, the BBC member has been great through this and I am so sorry this has happened. Sometimes these things happen and there is no way we could possibly know in advance. I have offered to make it up to Soote (BBC member) but she has decided to keep Django flying solo at the moment. It is a shame that the life of one so young has been snuffed out by a cruel birth defiency. Farewell Sootie. I am sorry that you were with us all for such a short period of time.

I Saw A Sky, Cobalt, Mauve?
Not sure that the classification is correct, but the reason that this could be possible is that the pied feature "damages" all other features. That is why the bird has patches all over it, bit of this here, bit of that there. I suppose the pied feature could have an affect on the dark factor, or the way it is displayed.

National Auction
You would want a pretty penny to bid on these right? I particularly like the look of the gary armstrong birds.

Pet Care And Feeding.......then And Now
Ah, thought it was Cricket, just could not remember. I would not think you would breed any animal that is unwell. I know you well enough to say that would never happen. Vets are funny aren't they?!?!?! In a person, we normally would get a second opinion if we disagreed with something, but with pets, we have this bad habit of initially taking the word of a vet, as if your own instincts with animals we know, was wrong.

Recessive Birds
This can be a tough one to tell initially for a new budgie owner/breeder. I know that I found it tough originally.
