I am not sure that Bob is not male. Can you get some other pics? Just a front on picture please.
  2. sorry to read this. You did your best. Sometimes we help, but their life has been tough, and it is just too much for them. Sorry for your loss.
  3. I think you are right Ratemymate, in your assessment. The first one is definitley a grey opalien dommie pied. The second one appears very light on the chest, and this may have confused shannon, but that rump patch of greygreen is very clear. I say greygreen opaline dommie pied. That is assuming the cheek patche are grey. If they are blue, and it is hard to tell on my monitor, then she is a YF mauve opaline dommie pied.
  4. I agree, your birds are awesome, and your photographic skills really enable you to take the best pics. Thank you for the effort you make and sharing their growth with us all.
  5. Her body is fighting the mites off. Keep her warm. She might be struggling with multiple illnesses.
  6. Is a vet an option here?

    Welcome to the board
  8. You have to be careful when you are questioning others that you do not type something that makes you look bad. White-wing is a term that was once used for a blue-based clearwing. If they had excellent wings, with no markings, their wings were white, thus they were called whitewings.

LEAVE IT AS IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope I made that clear.

It is unfortunate the way the doors are on those cages, but I agree with Kaz, I think it will be okay the way it is.
  11. Hang on, you lost a clutch of eggs, so you are going to ask your Dad if you can keep the birds from the previous clutch that you told us you had already found homes for? Seems there are a few holes in your story? Either that or you are reneging on the promise you made to others to give them a bird. Not sure which one it is. Maybe I am completely wrong? Care to clear it up for me?

there is a link underneat my signature entitled "how to post pictures" Read that and follow the instructions
  13. I have an older bird that I am going to try today with a hen, so i too hope for those results. On Photobucket, the size to select is 640 x 480.

You want your nestbox as high as possible, and you do not want a situation where a perch can be higher so a bird can sit above and look into the nestbox. It would make the hen feel uncomfortable and thus it is not ideal for breeding purposes. Post a picture of your cage setup so people can see what you are talking about.
  15. Wow, an 02 spangle who has successfully fathered all those chicks. That is pretty amazing. Your birds sound like they are coming along very well and the pics are great. Too bad they are so big and they have to be changed to links.
  16. Bit tough when you say do not judge you by your actions, as that is all we have. Actions speak louder than words I am afraid. Anyway, my thoughts are known.
  17. Obviously you laughter is sheer joy a the idea and you are so happy for the pair of them
  18. He is very nice
  19. Previously I answered this thread's question and said that Dave_McMinn was my name. I have now decided to get a little more detailed and explain the meanings behind that string of characters. David means beloved whilst Mc is the anglicised version of son, so My middle names are John and Douglas, which mean "God is Gracious" and "Black water" So David John Douglas McMinn means Beloved God is Gracious Black Water Son of Minn Not sure what that all means, but I will crack it!!!!
  20. So when these ones are born, will your Dad force you to get rid of them as well? I just think you are doing things in the wrong order. I know we all get excite by the prospect of young, but to me, it seems like you are putting the cart before the horse, or your own desires before the birds. Upgrade now, then breed later. Seems the fair thing to do.
  21. Still prefer Frannie. She would go so well with Quiche. Hmmmm, maybe she can come over for a visit?
  22. I thought the point Nubbly made in regard to reversing the spangle markings and how they bird would look after you did this. I mentally did this, and the bird would be very heavily marked in my opinion. In saying that, the head is magnificent. The young of this bird who are not spangles might be amazing.
  23. Bird seed will not be added until the birds are at the show venue. It is a 20 minute drive form my house, otherwise I would give food in advance.
  24. Awesome looking bird. I will be interested to see what is said abotu him. Whow as judging yesterday by the way at the meeting?
  25. okay, so your parents are forcing you to get rid of the first clutch. Remind me why you are letting them breed again?
