  1. Wow, GB to the rescue. Amazing story, well told. As I read it I felt like I was watching on, awaiting what was going to happen. I am praying for the little one.
  2. Well done Nubbly. This information is what beginning breeders need to help boost their confidence and to help them know the pedigree of their birds, and how they compare. The fact you went and looked to find out how Victoria has done previously shows what a good heart you have in helping another breeding, perhaps future competition even, out. GB is obviously on the right track and your positive reinforcement is a great thing to behold. Well done.
  3. Hi Mmbirdy and welcome to the forum. They are both lovely looking birds. I particularly like the vibrant blue. I am sorry I had to change you picture to a link. Pics need to be no larger than 640 x 480 pixels. In my signature there are some rules explaining the posting of pics. I hope they can help. Once more, welcome and thank you for posting pics of your birds.
  4. very cute little one
  5. Still wondering what is happening with this guy. What are your thoughts Kaz? We have all proposed our own theories. If the vet says what do you think happened, what would you say?
  6. They looks very cute. My post means we get to see the latest addition as well right?
  7. Split for what? Half will be spangle, half will be normals. No splits there.
  8. well done
  9. Great news.
  10. I am not good at sexing young chicks, but it looks like there is quite a bit of testosterone there. All male i think.
  11. She is a nice looking bird, and a bargain for $15.
  12. If he chooses his own female he might stress less with her. that would be the ideal situation.
  13. Cool, I look forward to following this thread. Nice birds for $15 each. Any other pics of the hen perching?
  14. I am glad to see he is looking better. I assume that when he is back to top condition you will give him another go, and see how he goes from there. It is either breed or bust I suppose.
  15. This is a terrible way to lose hens, as by the time you realise there is a problem, it is usually too late. I have lost a few hens this way and it breaks my heart. That is why it is so important to ensure they are in top shape to breed, and that they keep their condition up during the entire breeding cycle.
  16. never heard of this before. Can it be related to a bite by a spider? What about a calcium deficiency? Possible that it could have occurred over time and only been noticed now as it has simply only now got to the noticeable point? Shame as he looks like a great bird
  17. For the picky people, that song is in the wrong tense, I WENT to the zoo. Taronga Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo, which is a very open zoo with animals seperated by people by a moat in most places. This means you can get up pretty close to most animals, and they try to recreate the natural habitats as much as possible. The Zoo mainly focuses on African animals, but there are some South American and Asian animals there, as well as some Aussie animals, but it is more like the African plains, so there are no real aquatic exhibitions, so no Fairy Penguins, Seals, or even fish, but plenty of giraffes, rhino, hippos, the only African elephants in Australia, and a few other creatures. I took my two eldest nephews, Aidan (10) and Bayley (7) and we all had a good time. Here are a few pics I took. It is a good holiday for anyone seking to go. 18. You have a pretty good ratio of hens over there Kaz. You must be pleased with that, it is always better to breed good hens and buy and bring in males. It would also be cheaper, as really good hens, like the ones you are breeding now, would cost a fortune.
  19. Great looking birds. I might come over the next time the MBC has an auction.
  20. I have 2 different mugs I use. One is a travel mug, but I use this the most. I suppose it reminds me of what is important to me, and i what I can do with help. I am not preaching this to anyone, it is my belief, simple as that. The other mug comes with a story. Many years ago a friend of my sister's children were only between 3 and 8. Anyway, their Dad's name was David, so when they were told my name was David, they said it could not be as that was their Dad's name. They asked me what my real name was. I told them it was Legend, and even taught them how to spell it. For the rest of the day they happily called me Legend. Even as they were leaving, driving away from the house, the windows were down in their car, their arms were waving rapidly, and they were yelling out "Bye Legend". they called me Legend for about the next 3 or so times they saw me, over a 2 month period. They could not be convinced that my name was not Legend in this period of time. Anyway, my mother, thinking the story was funny, saw this beautiful pottery mug with the word LEGEND on it. Mum bought it for me, as a constant reminder of that story. It holds a special place in my heart, both because who it was from, and the circumstances that led to such a lovely gift. I always make Mum a cup of tea in it when she is at my place. We look at the mug and have a quiet chuckle everytime. So there you go, my most used mug and my most reasured mug.
  21. I know that they are both greygreens and the concensus is that you should not put greygreen to greygreen, but they are both good looking birds, good heads, masks and spots. You could do worse than to pair them together.

    Well done.
  23. It will be interesting to see if those coloured feathers on top of her head moult out Kaz.
  24. you tell it to change back - I want it to be a violet greywing - :what:
  25. Very cute. I think the violet greywing has now overtaken the sky blue greywing as my favourite greywing.
