  1. As Kaz has said, the skylight is there mainly for winter and to let light in, but will be covered in summer. I have thought about ways to ensure it does not get too hot, wire doors and the like. I have given this a lot of thought and discussion with others - fear not people, i am prepared.
  2. Shed should go up tomorrow
  3. I will take some new photos when I have the chance, but I am pleased to report that she is very good and going well.
  4. Yes, that is how they should be
  5. In this case Kaz has taken the picture to show us all the colour that the bird will be. Note the blue feathers coming through on this bird. Tail feathers can also tell you if the bird will be a spangle. If the two middle feathers on the tail are light in colour, not dark, then the bird will be a spangle. For the picture above, we know it is not a spangle, but we can see the blue feathers very clearly.
  6. bet you are happy about the pieds!! I know there is a soft spot for pieds in there
  7. I always put millet in there. I find it saves Mum's from plucking at other things, like down.
  8. Unfortunately it seems no matter our best intentions, we are just always going to lose some birds. The scalped bird may survive, but another good hen was lost it seems.
  9. I have seen my birds pick at a dead bird, but never a live one.
  10. Did you catch the culprit? You are culling Ommie's offsrping?
  11. Home grown broccoli they will love and should be pesticide free, the same cannot be said for store bought broccoli. It may be, but there are no guarantees
  12. Good luck with that!!!!!!!!!!!! :glare:
  13. I was just thinking that.
  14. Child, juvenile, pre-teen, minor..... I am just applying the terms correctly.
  15. How about not?!?!?!?!?!?!
  16. Can I have my $20 now? The law states that as an adult I am not allowed to enter into legally binding contracts or even bets with minors or children, so no, no money until you grow up. Sorry. Doesn't that mean that by laying the bet, you already broke the law? ( ) No, the contract is not legally binding as minors must have parental approval in writing at the time of entering into a legally binding contract. As Ratzy is still a child and she did not provide written parental proof, there was no legally binding agreement. So the chance of getting the money, absolutely zero!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. She is back in the aviary and all looks well
  19. Neither can we  are you going to tile your floor Dave ? Well the shed construction was going well and then the clouds came and we had a massive downpour. This put an end to my shed building adventures for today. Tune in next week to find out if the shed EVER gets finished - I am so FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do nto plan on tiling at the moment Kaz. Maybe something to consider doing over summer when the birds are not down breeding.
  20. Shed goes up today and all cages are in it. I can't wait much longer
  21. Saturday update: Her leg is healed up well, and she is eating and flying well. Today she is outside int eh sunshine and she will go back into the aviary either today or tomorrow
  22. I think it is a hen, and I think it is an opaline, based on the white down
  23. that is much better - thanks Kaz
  24. Do I need a google account to get to this?
  25. Daily update - the infection is clearing up well. Only problem is that little miss decided that she would chew at the scab on her leg, so she peeled it off, before it was ready, so there was blood all over the place. She is no rocket scientist this one.
