Snowflake's Babies! New Photos!(18/1/07)
Thought I would update with new pictures.Have named the oldest budgie "smiley" as it always looks happy. It is really dark on his wings and on his body, woth dark feathers coming on its belly aswell. close up of cute smiley face. Second baby has no name but I have noticed no spots on the middle of the back of its head. Also has light colouring on end of right wing and some on the left wing,so hoping this means it might be a pied. Couldn't resist this photo of head/nose. The only thing I don't like about baby budgies ............ they grow up to fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fertile Eggs?
My budgie has two eggs and when I try and look at them with a light they seem to have a very large air space. It is at least 1/3 of the egg.Is this normal or should the air sac be smaller. When I first checked them I could see the yolk and also red veins in them.

Snowflake's Babies! New Photos!(18/1/07)
So true Nerwen about Snowball but I also know that Snowball is an old budgie and could be shooting blanks.I got him with my aviary and the lady said it was the first budgie she bought, which could be up to 10 years ago.I also got two other males with the aviary which have passsed away this year aswell from old age.

Snowflake's Babies! New Photos!(18/1/07)
Hi guys, haven't posted since before xmas as I have been busy busy busy! Anyway Snowflake's eggs hatched, originally there was three babies but the middle one died. Think other birds killed it as Snowflake is very quiet, thus next year only breeding in breeding cages. Anyway here are some pics.First baby has black spots coming through. and second baby seems to have no spots coming through. Snowflake had two boyfriends, although I have only seen Aussie feeding the babies. Aussie has a small yellow patch on the back of his head and has had pied babies before. Here is Aussie and here is Snowball 2nd daddy

Moving?
Here lies the problem Snowflake has 6 eggs She is in an aviary situation and I wanted to know if I move her and her mate into a breeding cage will she still brood on her eggs.I have other budgies I want to put back into the aviary and was wondering if this would work.I don't want to put the other birds back in as she has already lost a baby to another female that I took out earlier in the year. I am happy to leave her though and the other birds are quite alright in quarratine cages. This way I could also keep an eye on the babies and stop the other females breeding by removing the nest boxes from the aviary. Will be rethinking aviary/breeding cages thing next year and definately making changes from lessons learnt this year. :angel1:

Tweety Flying
Zai isn't his brother, the other baby(Popp) still hasn't left the nesting box.Zai is small and has something wrong with his feathers. He has been seen by a vet but we don't know why his feathers don't grow properly. Bubbles do you know when I can take Tweety away from his parents, how will I know that he is eating by himself?

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.Tweety use to bite us but has now stopped and will sit in your hand if you quietly talk to him and he loves scratchies.Poppy was quiet but now does the biting which stops after awhile.Their parents are mossey and Fluro.Dad is a normal green and Mum is a lutino. I appreciate your replies.
