  1. are your birds yf1 or 2? Id assume pairing 2 yf2 birds together you would get all YF2 chicks. Only having one parent bird as a YF reduces the % to 50%. This could come out in a clutch as 1/10 or 10/10 depending how the genes throw at the time
  2. Sounds good, are they keeping the colt for stud or work? Got any pics of the mare?
  3. Good luck, fingers and toes crossed. You too Macka. Did you do the prep on them?
  4. Mine used to love it in the middle of summer (and winter to my horror), like Liv said they want more and more and more then go .... how did I get in this state and sulk

Not me I think I just have some nice birds to work with, have been lucky this time round and have fertile eggs in each cage (except the last pair, be able to tell soon, but havent got my hopes up much) Had a couple of visits when I was in Perth a while back and wow the birds have changed since I was last looking down there and I realise I am well behind with some of them, but I am having fun I have a few hens that throw clones of themselves, its cute. I think I have a few things I should change when pairing up with certain mutations and colours but I'm trying to up quality and will sort/seperate mutations later on.
  6. Light green for me as well. Same colouration as a few I have.

Have got my first blue bub in quite some time, was a surprise from 2 greens. Pics dont do justice she is a lovely little hen, bit washed out in the photo With another youngster This fella is moulting into quite a handsome boy- although flecked. This little fella would be one of my longest birds already, cant wait for him to mature I think I will be happy with the end result. Pulled this hen out to put in the breeding cage, by far the biggest hen I have with a solid long mask (didnt show up) but I checked her ring and info card and she has just turned 5 months oops. Kaz you will recognise some of these... This pair is on 8 fertile eggs at the moment, actually 7 and 1 baby, it hatched this arvo This pair are on 5 eggs I think..or 6..3 are fertile so far (looking forward to seeing the results) This pair is partially for Jimmy as he got me thinking about dom pied spangles, and part for me as I wanted to see if this cock could produce, his brothers are much better than him but he got all the 'pretty' looks and these 2, only because I'm trying to thin out the greygreens. This hen has produced some very nice chicks so heres hoping Last but not least I have this randy little bugger a greygreen dom pied, and hoping he can do something with this grumpy thing, Ive yet to get a fertile egg from her, she is not into the men (or any birds) and is too quick to jump into the nest and start laying, this fella is quite happy to hump the perch/wire while eating, chatting her up, sitting by himself, not sure if he has stopped long enough to try it with her though (not a good picture but you get the idea) well thats it for now, when the chicks start feathering I'll take some more
  8. Excellent should be a handy little horse, I dont mind the anglos. Who is the polo player in the house? Or will you lease her out. Cant wait for pics also
  9. cheers chick, I shall have a look. Maybe it was overspray with the bleach? Jokes guys.
  10. Hey hows everyone going. I have been flat out working lately so havent got on much except for a sneak peak here and there. Thought Id throw up some pics now I have time. Finally got(bred) my second pied lovebird so fingers crossed I can breed some more in the future. It has renewed my interest in these little birds :budgiedance: My original one is a green pied (although its yellow and orange) some of you may have seen her. I need to catch this one up and try and sex it. Anyone know a good forum/links that has info on these, IVe tried on a few but not many people know of the mutations just the normals. I have no idea how the gene works, Recessive by the looks of it as it came from a pied x norm/pied It wasnt born pied like a pied budgie would be (that I noticed) but seems to be moulting out more and more as the white areas are growing Anyway thats all for this, I'll try to get some budgie pics up now
  11. Congrats mate, a little filly with heaps of chrome, couldnt have asked for more. All my horses have been chestnuts except my very first was a black. Not something a vet should miss though or the lady looking after the mare. What sort of breeding was it? Racehorse, showhorse or pet?
  12. My 2 boys, Grey cinnamon spangles. Ive got 4 of these all identical to yours.
  13. Ive got a nikon- one of the earlier models, I much prefer the canon, the 1000 is good I was going to get the 400d but was given the nikon (free is good) Canon has lots of accessories and plenty of lenses available, nikon has changed some of the attachments of camera/lens so cannot interchange older lenses. Some fo the lenses they include in the packages could be better, look into what brand has what lens Most of the police seem to use Nikons (from what ive seen) not sure why, but the better photographers I know use canons my personal choice is a canon but they are all made well these days
  14. I was working up there just after the cyclone went through last year, water and seeding grasses everywhere. One station had feed for the first time in 6 years. The birds were going mad breeding all along the rivers in the gums, spinifex and buffel grass thick and long. I brought back kg's and kg's of seed for my birds. Rivers were running (good for swimming and bathing after a long day) and all looked fantastic. But the water soon disperses and the grasses dry up and you are left on the hot open plains again. It transforms quickly and the heat up there in summer -you cant get away from it. Where there is still water, there is not much feed due to cattle, and where theere is still feed its a fair way from water so its hard on them either way. Its natures way of thinning the numbers out of animals that breed so quickly in big numbers. Amazing photos though
  15. Thanks Kaz, your a champ
  16. As usual- all the good ones are gay!!
  17. Liv or Dave. When flying with your birds did you drop them off at the AAE terminal or take them into check-in with your luggage? As I noticed the small to medium pet carriers can be checked in with your luggage. Is it the same for bird boxes? Cheers guys Nyree
  18. Lol Dave Kirsty- sometimes it takes days sometimes weeks and for the really really patient people it has known to take months. Hopefully you will start to see some bonding from the pairs within a week, usually the males initiate it but not always. Think to notice include sitting on the same side perch instead of facing each other on seperate ones, male approaching the female (even if she rejects him at first, he must keep trying!) the more obvious signs come soon after. Persevere for a few weeks before making any more decisions or expecting anything
  19. Should be a good day for anyone wanting to see a good range of quality birds in all varieties. Daz your birds are looking terrific and I'm pretty sure I can see which have the armstrong influence. Daryl- thats a nice YF youngster you have in your avatar
