  1. My thought was a cinnamons eyes too- and you already know they produce cinnamon. I have just had a chick hatch with red eyes- I had foster Ino eggs in that nest- (red not plum) and thought definately Ino but 2 days later they have darkened up a tad and looking more cinnamon colour and now I am racking my brain as I have no cinnamon bred birds down atm. The father of your birds is split cinnamon so all cinnamon chicks will be hens and your male babies will be split opaline (and some may carry the cinnamon gene now) One parent being dark grey and the other skyblue will give you a range of colours from the 2- both male and female chicks
  2. Wasnt real keen on swinging hey? Wrong generation? Good luck with them.
  3. Hey they're gorgeous- no no let me retype that.... Hey, they're gorgeous (that could've been taken the wrong way) :lol2: haha sorry jimmy!
  4. Time to do it varies- can stretch out to 2 weeks but one of my last ones was done at 4 days. Need to watch your chicks and assess the right time for your birds. If I had assumed it would be ready at 6-7 days it would have been to late
  5. You'll have to behave yourself for a while then! Hope it comes good for you- if I'm in Perth in Jan I'll come up and say gday.
  6. They arent impressive but all that was in the area I was in today They dont look like much but this plant is lucky to have leaves then its coated in these 'flowers' and a lizard I saw on the way out.
  7. (whats sweetbread? ) I take it you arent referring to the animal part called sweetbread Lol!)
  8. If he and the hen are opaline then all the chicks would be and by memory I dont think they are- correct me if I'm wrong I cant be bothered opening the link again sorry.
  9. Does his cere go blue or stay similar to what it looks in the picture? Yf2 Dompied, greywing/clearwing (?) spangle(?) Theres not alot of colour on him is there? Could another cockbird get with the hen when they breed to account for the normals? (incase of him being DF?) Nice range of chicks.
  10. I dont see anything wrong with this post. She isnt asking about a sick guinea pig just about contacts. There arent many small animal rescues around here. I'd try the cavy club ifyou are after something particular or if they cant help have a look in the quokka paper. Sometimes they are the better ones coming from a home that has handled them heaps and looked after them well. Good luck mate.
  11. Lol- correct in YOUR clutch there will be no 'normal' dom pied girls but you will get 'opaline' dom pied girls. Dom pied and opaline work differently- boys and girls have an equal chance of getting pied or not getting pied but depending on whether mum or dad is opaline increases or decreases the chance of them being opaline. In this case the girls dont have a choice!! So your babies you could have got Boys Dominant pieds split opaline Normal (not pied) split opaline Girls Opaline (normal) Opaline Dom Pied This is good its making my brain work as well.
  12. the colour doesnt look right where it stops at the neck. It looks like a girl but opaline dom pieds can be either. I just got a male op dom pied from a female opaline dom pied!! Lol
  13. You just about got it- except the girls Will be opaline as they only need half the amount of opaline gene as the boys. So the girls are more likely to be opaline than a boy. Same as lutino -girls only need half, boys need 2
  14. boys need 1 from each to BE opaline, hens need just 1 from dad. So with your birds the boys will be split and the girls will be opaline So as the dad is opaline His parents were opaline (or the hen was and the dad was split)
  15. He will be split- retaining one gene from dad, this leaves the hens showing opaline (they only need 1 gene) and the boys split for opaline as they need 1 from each parent to show it. (..hope thats right - just confused myself thinking!!) lol no doubt someone will correct me.
  16. Hey stanger how are you? (sneakin in!!)
  17. Dom pied= boy or girl Opaline = girl Not opaline=boy. The chick has grey down which signs early in the nest its a normal, white down signs its an opaline. Male dom pied.
  18. I do like number 4 I think it will be a nice chick, but then they are all nice!! Good luck sunday- you'll have to let us know what they say about it.
  19. are they the normal size- door in middle style? Mb I'll email ya my addy.
  20. I need to get some cage fronts- where is the best place to start looking??. I am looking at building some more breeding cabinets- we are coming into summer now and nearly time to stop breeding but I have a few ideas how I will be set up next year, its been quite frustrating towards the end having a few good pairs and no-where to put them and next year I hope to have a few more down. I want to see what fronts are around, sizes and set-up. I have also tried looking for Daz's post on him building some- can anyone point me in the right direction? I want to have a look at something in there. Any other ideas feel free to post- I am open to anything at the moment!!
  21. How fitting- the number plate I CRY  (i know its really 1 not I!!)
  22. Dont reckon they need bright blue dots to guide the parents to their mouth- how could they miss?
  23. Look forward to seeing you around again
  24. I was going to get some wildflower pics today on the way home but I didnt  I will try during the week when I head out. Although not impressive its nice to see a touch of colour over the red dirt.
  25. They look great - I agree wth the 100 photos for 1 good one, and most of the time I cant even get that to do the bird justice! Neat- Kaz's numbers are well well down on what they were, so lots of restocking no worries!!:
