Head Spot Discussion
Seeings as the originals have gone I'll add a few recent ones. Since this post I think people have come to accept this theory of split rec pied I know myself and another have proved it many times over which is a change from the first comments I got when first posting this theory in another thread before this one. The original hen I posted abbout was put to a grey split rec pied cockbird (spot) and they did produce rec pieds. Recent ones Mother: Son: I have had 2 birds from this hen carry the spot out of about 6 clutches Hey Elly I cant remember how big Merlins spot is?

How Much Power Does Your House Use?
63 days = 1989 units = $293.30 mine hasnt got a 300-500 type reading. This is over the winter period with a new baby and running his clothes through a dryer a few times a week, couple of chestfreezers, fridge and barfridge plus the usual. At the old house we had a refrig and a evap cooler in the walls (kitchen & lounge) these were run all the time over summer and a fan and also a refrig portable aircon unit in one of the rooms plus 2 fridges and a chest freezer... going over some of the old power bills it was about 3-400 for the 3 months This house is brick 3 bedroom much cooler already without aircon, but we have an evap on the roof running into 5 rooms, I will let you know what we are using in a few months!! Our aircon will be run pretty much 24/7 over summer Do you have an idea of what sort of aircon you will have? How often it will be run? Also you will need to be able to get enough power over winter to run what you need ( have known people to set it up then find their isnt enough 'solar power' to run over winter) I have friends that are running on solar on their place if you have any questions, I havent spoken to them for a while but am friends with her brother down the road- we were talking about their setup the other day.

Breeding in Ken's Aviary
They're looking good. Someone told me they are bad parents for the first clutch or 2. A friend of mine was given a pair with some other parrots a while back and they are on 8 eggs (2 no good they were layed earlier) the old owner said the last lot died after a few weeks- I'm guessing she stopped feeding as well. At least this time they are with people that know what theyre doing and either him or me are able to handraise them if they do it again. aRe both the babies green or is 1 blue? Does the blue/green gene work the same as budgies?

First Show Babies
Stunning Sunnie- you must be happy

Babies
Last ones... promise! (til the next lot heehee) In the baby cage now, parents started laying again so I'll let her lay then foster them out and dad can have a rest. It was good to get some greys and hopefully they keep developing into nice birds, be good to get some blues though I seem to have a deficiency of blue birds!! Greygreen Grey opaline Grey normal

Meet Pegleg Pete
He is a good looking bird- even footless!! I have had a one legged rec pied for a few years now, he still bathes, he lies along the perch to preen with his good foot and 'he' has a 'boyfriend' (dont ask- story of my life these new age budgies) you wouldnt guess it without staring at him One of this years babies got caught up somehow by her ring (still cant work out where) and broke her leg has mended now but is a little crooked they are pretty resilient birds Just think how well those seagulls get around with 1 or no feet!

What's Up With Neat
Good to hear Neat. Snakes can be a worry, many times we came home to snakes on the backdoorstep or in the bird aviary (dugites) or at the other farm tiger snakes and they were breeding around that house.. little babies everywhere. Luckily havent lost a dog yet. Good luck with the house hunting

Kath And Kim
I dont know about you but the US version just doesnt have that.... class lol. Its just not daggy enough to be the same show. Maybe it'll be funny for the US watchers but to me it has lost so much in the translation (cant think of the proper term!) and different actors Sorry

Selling Budgies
Don't ya hate it. Especially when they are birds that you like!! When they are birds that dont mean alot to me (as harsh as that sounds) I dont mind, they get sold and thats it. But I thought about making room in the aviary the other day and put a sign up at the local shop now I didnt really have in mind any particular birds so when I got a call today I had to rush out and decide which ones I could bear to part with- okay so I picked a few and the people turn up and want 10!! Well there is no real reason I cant sell 10 as I have quite a few birds I wont be using and they are quite young so they are able to give the new owners many years hopefully. I do have a few favourites just leave and feel guilty as *** but thats life hey? And you start to think well I did have room I could have kept that one...and that one... and that one.... you know how it goes. Its definately hard putting them in that cage to leave though Anyways I hope they will be happy in their new house and I must learn to toughen up. :hap:

Babies
mmm if I had one!! haha Elly and Neat- thats his natural stance the little ponce, even as a little chicklet.
-
What Type Is He?
okay I'll start off- he is a greygreen and the babies were greygreen not olive. NOw to the dilution of him and the babies I have no idea!! But the red eyes that went black indicates cinnamon so he is split cinnamon, he seems too diluted to be greywing but thats always debatable on here Lol!

The Kindie Cage Babies

Babies
Well we're ending on a good note, have a few average babies and a few nice ones either just or about to fledge. Have a hen left on eggs with 1 young one and 2 pairs I put down with nothing yet- I may still cancel their plans depending on the heat this week. clutch 1 from this pair (very similar to Kazs pair) hen is ready to go again- harassing the male for a bit of attention but they will be having a rest now they are looking a bit tired (male mainly) Grey opaline- big bird with lots of feather Greygreen normal this is the chhick that was rung early- very long chick with a nice head- not that the piccy shows that! Normal grey- not overly impressive yet but I'll have another look in a few months, little one wouldnt keep still Opaline Pied male- tucks his head in and always has a full crop that makes it look worse! Turned out a real nice chick- again couldnt quite catch his look in the photo. Spitting image of his mum who I dont have anymore so cannot repeat the pairing 3 normal green/lute babies, pictures coming it was too hot! I'll try to add more later, I am using my old camera again as I have bumped the lens on the other one and need to send it off to be looked at. So... the photos arent too good but good enough.

An Update On My Budgie With 7 Eggs
It may just be a random thing her body has done- in that case its up to you whether to keep the egg or throw it out before it starts to develop Or she may have had a bit of trouble passing it and taken a couple of days- in that case keep as eye on her. If you keep the egg just keep an eye on the little one when it hatches as it will be quite a bit smaller than the others It may just be a once off egg and she should be okay. Good luck Jodie Things like this happen sometimes I met a girl once pregnant with triplets but they were different ages, she was having twins then a month later her body added another.

What good would it do you to pull a swifty?? They do look like the style of chicks you would get from those 2 birds- if you look at their features. I have a pair identical- (colours and features) and the chicks that hatched are of similar type. Wow so much happens here and I am oblivious to it all
