  1. Baby three had red eyes when I was there last.. has it changed already?!?!?! So does the other two babies.. you should have four red eyed babies. I hope they all stay red..
  2. Check out all those new birds!! wow, you're filling your aviary up real fast there. oh look, I'm a green cinnamon hen.. :ausb: I think that last one is a opaline spangle recessive pied. I dont think it can be double factor spangle simply because he's not pure white like Zuess is... he's got the spangle marking on his back, and also that grey on his rump and tummy totally rule DFSpangle out. I'm thinking opaline as well because I think I see grey edging together with black edging on the spangle marking. though I didn't pick that up when I was last there.
  3. your hand got slimed.. hehehehe. that's so sweet of him to offer your hand food..
  4. Jouslou, you can get rope perches from a lot of places here in WA... some city farmers have them, a bird shop called birds n fish place have them as well. A lot of pet shops stock them as well. Just gotta look for them.
  5. looks like a recessive to me.
  6. what a pretty bird. I agree with Nerwen as well.
  7. I thought that you can get full body greywings as well. And also cinnamon makes the body colour lighter as well. Am I wrong?

Awww, that's great!! What a little charmer Scuttle is.
  9. You know, after measuring the dimention out and comparing it to my current cage that my pairs live in, I would say that I would be happy with 6 in there, probably no more though... may be 7-8 if I know that they'll get lots of flying time.. by that I mean like at least four hours of out time. Mind you all my budgies when I let them out, they do like four circles around the room then just sits on top of the curtain railing for the next four hours!!! (Laughing out loud)... until I go to get them again, thats when they like doing laps around the room again! (Laughing out loud) Though I agree with more wiring. most mesh out there are zinc coated, so to savely do it, you'll either need to powder coat it, and even then if the birds chew through the powder coated bits, you'll get zinc on the wiring, the safest way to do it would be using stainless steels wiring, and they are so very expensive!!! Good luck.
  10. I thought I read somewhere that whitewing blue is what they used to call clearwings in the blue series, and yellowing green in the green series. Not sure where I read it.. with Blossom, I don't see the opaline in her.. I do see the V shape, but there's no body colour there, just white. I didn't think that made her opaline does it???

Lovey, yes I do use the dried kidney beans... or at least the sprouting type anyway. The tinned stuff, I meant when I am actually using it for my cooking, and I would give a few beans to him for a little treat. he loves it. Thanks though for the idea.
  12. oh yeah, I can see pretty now, but I still can't see Merlin!! (Laughing out loud).. and he does look so very tiny in that mansion!
  13. ummm are those two in there?!?! coz if they are, I certainly can't spot them! They are that small in a big big big cage!!

could you put the natural perch down the bottom of the cage may be where he is likely to spend less time there anyway? and then see how he would react to it? I cant say I've ever had trouble with putting natural branch into the cages. all the budgies have taken to the natural wood in like wild fire.

I give them to my cockatoo, but I've never given them to my budgies.. I tend to only give a little bit as I dont know what the sodium level is in those tined kidney beans. Yes, I just rinse them off real good and then let him hold one by one. He loves it.
  16. yep, absolutely.
  17. wow Feathers, that's a great cage!! Lucky birdies. Lovey, you have two in that cage?!?!?!?!? Lucky boys... may be you should give them both a girl each to flirt with.. hehehe.. hint hint... And here I thought my two pairs are lucky to have the big cage they have, but boy your cage put mine to shame!!! (Laughing out loud)
  18. yeah I know what you mean by how small they may actually look in a cage... I usually have to look hard to start off with to see my budgies are in their cages. Like Lovey mentioned, the bigger the better, and of course they need to be able to stretch their wings a flap a little without hitting things in the cage and also the cage mate(s)
  19. well it seems that the other Karen (Bubbles) has been converted... I'm sure she told me once that she would not think of going into show breeding!! sorry kaz... hehehehe
  20. the only times I've had trouble with boys and girls in the same cage was when two girls were fighting for one boy and a little patch on the aviary floor for a nesting site!!! I haven't had any problem with budgies indoor in smaller cages at all..
  21. great shots. Yep thinking it's a girl too.
  22. It is roughly... 22' wide 15' tall 18' deep. I'd say that cage would be good for may be two. It is not a very big cage at all. My two indoor pairs live in 23' (29cm) x 22' (26cm) x 26'(66cm) cages. Each pair has their own cage.
  23. hmmm I just thought that city farmers had already phased out selling bird stocks... may be not. Kelmscott hey.. hmmm I wonder when I'm heading that way again..... will have to pop in and have a looksy there. Thanks
  24. (Laughing out loud).. that's too funny... That Blink is just simply adorable!
