Hi! welcome, you have very pretty birds there!
  2. Hi Sofia welcome to the forum! Your budgies are gorgeous, I especially love the colour of Loui!
  3. You'd follow me through the Galaxy wouldn't you? That's okay, love the company!
  4. I'm so happy I can't contain myself! I will post the picture of my gorgeous new boy shortly. and the Twilight Zone was pretty quiet & lonely too.
  5. Well I'm back! Anyone miss me? For those who couldn't give a hoot that I went AWOL!! and don't know me from a bar of soap! here is what I am owned by: 36 budgies including Private Boris my beautiful green girl! 11 Bourke Parrots and 8 Kakariki. I've gotta redo my signature & avatar too!! Don't have time now, I'm off to bed.
  6. Good move Mel! Keep everyone happy!
  7. Lin is correct (how'd you get so smart Lin?) budgies & finches a big no-no, even in a large aviary my budgie hens used to catch the finches and carry them around in their beaks. I soon learned to remove the finches.
  8. You really should cover them at just after dusk (all birds 'chatter' after dusk) & uncover them just after dawn which is a wild birds normal routine.
  9. I would suggest the bird in question is a male. My Junior Boss (Recessive Pied) has a brown/beige cere at various times of the year - he is 100% male!

Eucalyptus leaves are a highly beneficial thing to feed your budgies if you can get ahold of them. http://www.budgieworld.net/budgie_advice.htm
  11. (Laughing out loud) Daz, I wish mine would do more than play with theirs!!

  13. My budgies see the celery as soon as I come out the back door - at least 40 feet away and they line up on the wire waiting for me to come over & give it to them!
  14. That is a great cage!

Great looking aviary Paul & the shadecloth is an excellent idea. I have a gazebo over mine. Nerwen, the door is near the bougenvillea - see the little white patch low down?
  16. Genetics stuf give me a headache! I am willing to let you guys do all the hard work for me Lemino should be made a technical term! We can credit you Jen with it!
  17. Good answers everyone! I do believe your working out is flawless. The hen is creamino. I do dislike that name. I have always called them lemon lutino, she is lemon coloured - yes I know technically she's creamino but she's not cream!
  18. I like the name Banana, might have to use that one! The green little she monster is called Stubbie - named her that a while ago as she is short & fat like an Aussie stubbie.
  19. All this behaviour is normal. I placed 2 pair into the breeding cages Saturday & 1 pair only talk to each other if she is in the box & the other pair the male flies away if the female goes up to him but chortles and beak bashes her when he goes up to her. Another pair that have been together & have eggs, the hen's cere is only light brown in the middle & never goes all over dark brown.. Not all hens' ceres will go dark brown.
  20. Yes, his off-spring were about 30% larger than the average pet budgie but still smaller than the show sized budgies. He isn't show sized himself - but almost. He has super duper long tail feathers too - the longest out of any budgie I've ever had.
  21. The hen has yet to breed but she is from pure Lutino stock. Big Gray has one successful nesting of 2 yellow faced grays, 2 greens & 1 blue/green (from yellow lacewing hen). I have high hopes I'm hoping for some larger lutino's & another gray white or yellow face I don't mind. What is your opinions on future babies?
  22. I don't know either birds' parentage as both were bought a couple years ago. The cock bird has bred both Albino's & Lutino's only. The hen has not been bred before. I only just put them together Saturday and the hen has only just started investigating the box.
  23. Hi Mel, they are still gorgeous! Is Houdini still the little escape artist?
  24. Photo taken 20-2-2006 at 31, 33 & 35 days old. All 3 have successfully fledged. Please excuse the dirty cage, the babies are rather edgy & I don't want to spook them anymore than absolutely necessary. I will clean when I move them to the aviary & before I but some Bourkes in there.
  25. I think the lacewings are such a pretty bird, here are some of mine - I used to have alot more but accidentally sold them. Yellow Lacewing compared to Lutino This is Grabfoot - one of my favourites
