Help!
You shouldn't put your hand in the cage until they trust you. You know they trust you when you are next to the cage & they don't run away when you talk to them. They will then come up to you when you are next to the bars. Next step is they will nibble your finger when you put it in the bars. I never open the cage (other than food & cleaning) before the above happens. This simple process can take up to 2 weeks or so. You can't force a bird to like you.

How Many In This Aviary?
I try not to have more than 1 pair of birds per cubic metre of space or so.

How Many In The Aviary?
I wouldn't have more than 10 birds in your aviary Daz. My aviary - 1.5M X 3M X 1.8 M - which you saw, I drastically reduced the amount of birds in it after a particularly successful breeding season last year. I now house 21 budgie (2 went in today), 3 kakariki, 7 Bourke & 2 Turks (which I'm trying to sell). I won't allow more than 40 birds in that aviary now as it gives them room to get away from each other. I don't like living in a crowded house.

A Hand Built Avairy (indoors)
You welded a leg on a blue tongue? A tip for attaching wire to wood easily: Buy a staple gun, for $30 or so you have a tool that you can use for dozens of other jobs around the house.

How Many In The Aviary?
I wouldn't go for more than 10-12 budgies in a cage that size. Each bird needs their own space to get away from the others.

How Many In This Aviary?

I can't see it.- Bar Spacing
Definately too wide for a budgie. Depending on the size of the cage it would be the right size spacing for a Kakariki.- The Cage I Must Get
Have you bought it yet Terri? I think you should get it, it's perfect.- How Many
Nice sized cage but I wouldn't go for more than 4 in it.- New Cage
I love Lemon & Hope's cage. I couldn't load the picture of the new cage it kept coming up page not found. But from the dimensions I'd only have 2 permanent budgies in it.- Blueys New Cage
That's a nice cage. Have you found a way to stop his fascination with chewing the bars?- Follow The Progress Of These Babies
One egg had hatched the other day but the baby died. I don't think the others will hatch they look clear. I held a 'darker' one up to the sun but it was clear. I am keeping them in there for the babies to 'cuddle'. The third baby is also going to be a Lutino, can't see in these pictures but there is a very faint yellow in the tips of the pins coming out. This is exciting, I reckon the pied baby will look like his dad I just don't know if it'll be dominant or recessive.- Follow The Progress Of These Babies
Taken today: Mumma loves her babies- Hello
Hi and welcome! You are getting great advice here.- Follow The Progress Of These Babies
But you just said his mum was Boris's mum that makes them half borthers. Unless I got the mum bit muddled up the first time. His mate is Boris' mum. His parents were: mum: white faced normal gray with a few yellow tail feathers (does this mean split to blue?) & his dad: a massive lutino (about 28+ cm).- Marine and Tooties Journal
Tootie looks like such a snob!- Follow The Progress Of These Babies
No, he's not related to Boris. These genetics are hard to follow but at least with Pass' help I can now understand wing patterns.- Follow The Progress Of These Babies
Dad is dominant pied & possible opaline. His parents were: mum: white faced normal gray with a few yellow tail feathers (does this mean split to blue?) & his dad: a massive lutino (about 28+ cm). I don't know her parentage but she has previously pred with a Lutino & recessive pieds & produced: Recessive Pied (Junior Boss), Normal Green (Boris), Albino & Lutino. Yeah, the younger 2 look to have red eyes. The mummy is a lovely bird, she is not tame but she doesn't mind me disturbing her to look at the babies & to old them - she always supervises. If she is sitting on eggs, she will quite happily take additional eggs (the larger 3 eggs in the picture are the Kakariki eggs).- Follow The Progress Of These Babies
The first 2 hatched while I was still in hospital, the 3rd hatched 20-1-2006. Daddy: Mummy with babies: Okay, this is the perfect test - what do you think the babies will be? I'll keep you updated with pictures so watch this post.- Why Budgies Are Untrustworhty....
