  1. I'm glad you decided against colony breeding, if you don't have a really large aviary space it is too dangerous. I found that out the hard way in my tiny 3m X 1.5m aviary. :budgiedance: Plus you don't want too many birds in the aviary as even in non breeding season it can still be dangerous. Before I forget, how's the pet boys going?
  2. I hope so! Boris is such a good mummy.
  3. He has a nice poofy head hey? :(Laughing out loud): He looks so big because the hen is fairly small - only about 40grams.
  4. Well, I checked the box on Sunday and not only did they have eggs, but they have 2 babies too!
  5. They have a baby! Loving couple at feed time:
  6. It's been awhile since I posted pics of Boris & now is a good time since she's found herself a new boyfriend for this season. She is a camera hog:
  7. The mother of the Violet is a White DEC & the father a Green Spangle (see http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=11908 ) Grayson parentage? If memory serves (and that was 16 months ago!), the mother was either albino or lutino (can't remember which) & the father is Junior Boss - a Y&G Recessive Pied.
  8. This pair have mated and while I haven't checked their box I do believe they have eggs. This is the infamous Cock identified by Mr Ghalib Al-Nasser: Continental Clearflight Cinnamon Violet cock: and this is Grayson (pictured with CJ):
  9. Well she has finally been spending some time in the nesting box.
  10. Do you feed Snowy alot of greens as this can make their poops runny & green. Some birds digest foods differently. Some of my birds have yucky bums from their vegies others don't. I used to think it was something wrong with the bird but it's digestion. If you are really concerned though then take her to the vet for some tests as only a vet can tell you with absolute certainty that your bird is well or unwell.
  11. Well she spend a couple hours in the box today! I can't wait to see how big the babies will be, Big Grey is a big boy and the hen is so much bigger than him!
  12. Y'all know Big Grey, well I've been trying to get these 2 to mate, they have had the nest box in the cage for 2 weeks now & she hardly enters it. That's fine, these things take time. When they finally do settle down to start a family, what would be the possible outcomes of chicks? Please not I do not know the genetic backgrounds of either birds. Big Grey has produced: cinnamon cobalt, normal cobalt, cinnamon green, normal green, yellow faced gray.

Welcome! Minty tamed up super quick! It usually takes a couple of months to tame a budgie. Minty must be really special.
  14. (Laughing out loud) when I saw the title of this post I thought he was mating with your hand!
  15. Hurts even more when an Indian Ringneck does it right next to your ear!
  16. They are very pretty birds. Can't identify their sex, will need to see their cere's. Is that a nest box? I'd remove that for a start. Why did you clip their wings? The only time wing clipping is necessary is when they are indoor birds and it might be required for training. I think it's rather mean to clip outdoor birds' wings.
  17. She is so beautiful! :budgiedance:
  18. She has a lovely stance. I think the girls will look like dad & the boys might look like dad too but be split to white lacewing.
  19. (Laughing out loud), very true!
  20. Unless the white DEC's are related I'd be inclined to breed them together! White & yellow birds are my favourites, even the lacewing white & yellows.
  21. (Laughing out loud) Nerwen - Big Grey has met his Match! I risked life and limb for this picture of her back - does she look opaline?:
  22. : Daz! I think my finger was having a 'G' day! Thanks for the info can't hardly wait for the weekend when I'll but a box in their cage! Beautful babies here we come! :(Laughing out loud):
  23. Big Gray has bred greens, glues & greys. I don't know the girls' history. What babies can I expect when these 2 breed?
  24. He's a very nice looking boy there Jen!
