  10. and going to look a lot prettier after its first moult Do you think it's face will become a deeper yellow after it moults, and do you think its a boy or girl??
  11. I agree with Libby, the chick has cinnamon markings and creaminos do not. Oh, well, doesnt matter! He's still adorable!!
  12. Our foster mum has been at it again, she got her camera out and made up pose for these photos, we get so many kisses all the time, it's driving us nuts! This is the first time she's bred a creamino so maybe that has something to do with it, I dont know, but I'm gunna take the batteries out of the camera if she doesnt stop soon!
  13. Oh Maesie, just how much more can you take? I can only imagine how you must be feeling I hope you know we are all here for you and are sending our thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Big hugs to you......
  14. Our mum took a few pics of us today - arent we cute?? We love to hang around Mum, we sit on her shoulder all day and nibble on her ear! (Creamino on right) C'mon mate! Dont look so cranky - you're supposed to smile for the camera! And sit up straight like me when you have your photo taken!
  15. Hi Rose I have handraised budgies completely on my own from when they are about 2 weeks old and let me tell you it is a terrible lot of work, yes the budgies are very tame but at the same time I get better results from leaving them with their parents but handling them daily for about 15 mins each day and putting them back in the nest. They receive the goodness from their parents feeding them, the right amount of warmth etc, you dont have the hassel of time, mess, costs etc of feeding them and they are just as tame! I am taming 5 babies right now from the nest.
  16. Hi Elysha, your birds are gorgeous!! I dont think the diarrhea is anything to worry about, its because of the change of diet and extra water that is in the handrearing mix. Once they start to eat seed all the time their poos will harden up. I'd say Cookie will be attempting to fly within the next week or so.
  17. Thanks Maesie, now I know!! Good Kaz! I tried to report them but when I hit the "send" button nothing happened, doesnt matter, you did it for me!
  18. I was just browsing on Ebay and typed in "budgie" and there on pg 2 right at the bottom (I dont know how to post link) is a poor little budgie in a cage for sale. It looks really young, poor little thing. It says it was a Christmas present and the novelty has worn off. What is it with these people? I'm going to send the seller a polite message......
  19. Hi Elysha and welcome to the forum! You will love it here as there are many nice people to give you some excellent advice. I have handreared a lot of budgies and love them to death! As your birds are over 3 weeks old now they should be able to eat from a plastic spoon.Make sure the feed is nice and warm as once it goes cold they wont touch it no matter how hungry they are. Are you feeding them a commercial handrearing mix as it is essential they are getting all the vitamins and nutrients at this young age. Also make sure they are in a nice warm place like a brooder. As for weaning, I put some millet sprays in with the chicks and as they are a curious little bird, they soon start to nibble on them. It takes a few weeks though for them to be weaned totally so make sure you still feed them the handrearing mix tilll you are sure they can eat seed on their own. Any other queries, feel free to ask!! I'm sure you will get some more help from the other members!! Oh, yes, we love photos here, so please send us some of your little babies!!!
  20. Yes, they have an excellent diet, fresh fruit and veg daily and cuttlebone as well, and now calcivet in their drinking water.
  21. That's good to know, I'd hate to think they couldnt get around properly, will start giving them Calcivet in the morning!!
  22. I thought they might have trouble grasping onto their perches??
  23. I have some Calcivet, do I give it to them diluted in a syringe?? Battery in camera is flat so give me a while and will post a picture.
  24. I have noticed a few of my new chicks have what I think is called splayed feet. (Their toes turned inward)Is there anything I can do about it and will it affect them in any way??
  25. I dont mean to sound harsh, but before you started to breed your budgies, you should have read up on how to look after your birds and you would have learnt that it highly recommended to only breed them twice a year. You should never let them continually breed like you have done. I'm suprised your hen hasnt died!! You cant just buy a pair of budgies, stick them in a cage with a nest box and let them go for it. If I was you I would take the nest box out NOW and let them have a rest - a LONG rest!
