I dont have any ideas for a name but that sure was a lovely gesture to offer you another tame galah!! Just goes to show there are still some kind generous caring people in the world!! I look forward to reading your updates and would love some photos of him as well!!

I pretty sure the lutino and the albino chick have French Moult - I noticed tonight they have bare patches on their wings and head and from previous experience looks exactly like it.

Sorry Kaz, I was talking about the egg and biscuit like in the pet shops. My birds never touch it! Any other suggestions to give them while rearing chicks??

I was suprised by the variety of colours in the nest of six chicks! The dad is a yellow-face bluey green (sorry dont know the correct colour!) and the mum is a white and bluey grey pied (will post pics soon!). So far I can tell there is 1 lutino, 1 albino, and the rest I'm not sure yet till they feather up more. Will take some photos of the chicks tomorrow afternoon!!

As the majority of my birds are currently feeding chicks, I am wanting to give them a big variety of foods. As they arent fussed on the commercial egg and biscuit mix I was wondering if anyone out there has a home made recipe?? Thanks in advance!!

true (loooking for todays pics) aviary looks good pics coming this afternoon, not a great deal was done as we had a storm and had to down tools but will take some pics anyway!

Thanks for that Elly, I will be sure to keep a good eye on them when chewing corn! Today was the first time they've had it and the only reason for that was they scavenged through the bag I had used to collect all the leaves and old seed,feed etc out of the aviary and stole the corn when I turned my back! Thanks again

OMG! $80 for a tame budgie? I sell mine that are genuinely tame (handled daily from 2 weeks of age) and at the time of sale sit happily on your shoulder, give kisses, and are almost human for no more than $30!!

They are a great help Kaz, they dig holes (where they're not wanted), carry the tools, get under out feet, etc etc etc, but who cares? They are adorable!!

Well it's only been 2 weeks since my babies hatched and am always blown away how quickly they grow!! Sorry they're not very good photos, I try to be quick so I dont disturb them too much!! I have one nest with 6 chicks (all eggs hatched!) and the mother squarks really bad when I open their nest box so I cant take any pics of them sorry!

We have some insulation left over from the larger aviary so we're going to use it on the new one. So that should help with the temperature as well.The men had a great joke about installing a ceiling fan,(only on slow) , whirlybird, shower recess etc etc etc for them while they're at it! I'm going to plant some small shrubs in the flight area as well, any other ideas are very welcome!!!

It really enjoyed the day - beautiful weather, relaxing in the back yard, surrounded by the people and pets that I love, it doesnt get any better than that - oh, yes it does, watching my new aviary go up!!

My new aviary has begun construction today, I have taken some pics to show you the progress from day to day, cant wait till its finished!! The old aviary was similar to our garden shed, extremely hot in the summer so the new one should be like a "Budgie Sheridan" (not as good as the Hilton though Kaz!!)

It was such a gorgeous day today we spent nearly all day outside. While my partner and his daughters boyfriend started on my new aviary for my budgies, (Check out the photos in the Aviary section) I supervised and also took some photos of my puppies, a few of my larger parrots and their aviary, enjoy!! Monty and Bella chewing on an old cob of corn, yuk! Jemma, my 6 y.o cocker still chewing! My major mitchells Princess parrots Opaline grass parrots Their aviary!!

Final count today is 11 :glare:

I'm sure he'll be okay Maesie, you have a ton of friends on this forum and we're all thinking of you and your family and sending big hugs your way! I know what you're going through. In the last 2 years I have had one sister with a brain tumour and then my other sister had breast cancer. But "touch wood" they are going very well, for the time being. So stay strong, and always know we are all here for you, maybe not in the flesh but we're still here!!

As some of you might have read a few weeks ago, my partner is building me a new aviary. The plan is to make a timber enclosure (similar to cubby house but bigger) with a flight built off it. Just wondering if anyone out there has any good ideas that we can pinch before we start building?? As it gets terribly hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter, I thought it would be a good idea if we insulated the roof and walls, and another idea is to get some of those revolving feed containers which means you dont need to go into the cage to change their seed. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated!!

I totally agree Feathers, there's nothing better in this world than new baby budgies! And No. 8 is here!!!!!

Just a quick update - I now have 7 babies!!!! Yay!!!!!

Possibly...but age also comes into it. How old is he ? I just checked his ring and its either 05 or 06. Its a bit worn and hard to tell, so that makes him only 2 or 3 years old.
