I think that budgie has an ambiguous cere. I wouldnt be too quick to call it a cock. Does look Hen-ish and it could go either way right now.

Dont buy any that say "just out of nesting box or still in nesting box" they need to have been out for a week or two and fully independant and eating seed. Also it is against gumtree rules for people to sell any from the nestingbox...that advert needs to be reported for selling underaged baby birds. Yale ? means what ? Budgies lay eggs every two days and that info is also in that article I pointed out for you to read.........please read it They lay every two days until they decide they have the perfect sized clutch...average is around 5 eggs but can vary from 3 to 13

Best thing you can do is join a local budgie club, Not on ly will you meet members who will have some good budgies to sell you but yopu will learnt o recognise what to look for when buying them. You can buy starter budgies ( culls ) for $20-$30 upwards to hundreds of dollars.

Have you a spare concave you can put there perhaps ?

sounds addled. This can happen if the parents kick them around going in and out of the nestbox. It can happen if you dont give her warning and she leaves the box too quickly rather than slowly and gently. It can happen if they spin around not having enough nesting materials. Can also happen if she stayed off the eggs too long while incubating one time. Some of those eggs make it but most dont.

Also, do you have any mirrors and shiny bells in his cage. Anything reflective like that and he begins to protect the "other budgie "( his friend ) from you. If you have anything like that in his cage..............remove it. Mirrors do their head in anyway.

Pus or cheesy gunk ? There's a huge difference. Photos please ? If its the feather folicle cyst the whole feather follicle can be excised and stitched by a vet. I think its time she saw an avian vet.

Meanwhile post some pictures of front and back of both birds and we can help you identify what kind they are

Hi and welcome. I wouldnt be in too much of a hurry to do the nestbox thing as the budgie you have posted a picture of is still well under aged for breeding. A coloured cere is no indicator of old enough to breed.

Put a nestbox on the floor in that spot with the sliding door section completely open. it will give her some refuge and a concave she can lay her eggs in. If you can organise a sliding door section thats about 2 inches ( 50mm) high ) she can hop over that in and out to lay her eggs in the nest.

No they dont....you can get them with cinnamon wings but not the brownish cinnamon body colour you are thinking of. Closest colour match would be a cinnamon grey ( cinnamon wings and grey body colour )

I have seen similar things...like a skin tag. I dont think its mite related at all.

You need more info........... was your caretaker of your budgies experienced ? Some people think they have food when all they have is husks. Does water, rain and cold wind get in ? If so coccidiosis is a possibility. Has he taken any bodies to the vet for autopsy ?

One thing I hadnt paid attention to or noticed before RIP is ....she has lovely spots

NO......you dont put another cockbird in. Eggs can be fostered to a nest only if they are at the same stage of development Have you candled the eggs to see if they are fertile ? How old are the eggs ? No need to put food in her box apart from some millet sprays...she will still get out to feed and poop like they normally do.
