  1. It is done over a couple of hours I think...we did it prior to and during lunch and after.... then random numbers are called ( relating to the lot numbers of say four or so lots at a time )...when these numbers are called there is like a couple of minutes for these lots to close off. It give people a chance to add a last minute bid. Then when its called TIME, no more bids are accepted and the last bidder on the list gets the bird.
  2. That's exactly what I'll be doing tomorrow. In person. Tomorrow I will talk to the merchant of the rabbit and guinea pig pellets and see if he has an exact breakdown of those ingredients too.
  3. Can you contact the makers of those pellets and ask why they removed the molasses ?
  4. For some reason this guy just stands out to me as far as cuteness goes lol. Would love to see him in my aviary.... He is cute....I have a soft spot for him I almost lost him as he stopped eating once and I was crop feeding him....I did think he would die but he turned the corner. I call him BOOFHEAD These are his half brothers
  5. Done that before....I hate that kind of auction
  6. 164. when you carry secateurs around in your car to stop and cut fresh gumtree branches and peppermint tree branches. 165. When you stop suddenly on a drive to pick some seeding grasses in a paddock over a barbed wire fence. 166. When the couple of dozen fresh eggs you buy arent for the people in the house but for the budgies
  7. Aviary greywings
  8. I will let you know once I complete my inventory after my cull is done. Breeders all put up a bird or two or three on the show bench with a starting price on a piece of paper. Those interested add their bid on the paper and it keeps going till time up. When its time up the person whose bid is the highest on the paper gets the bird. For instance....this fellow the breeder put $50 starting bid on. I put $55 and noone else bid on him so I got him for $55
  9. We had a written auction at SWBC yesterday and we bought some birds. Renee did, I did and maybe a few others. Here are mine.......... Fran McLaughlan cock ( Henry George bloodlines ) and he's moulting Jan MacMahon Cinnamon dom pied cock Jan MacMahon dom pied hen Jan MacMahon grey green normal hen Gina & Grant House hen middle one Your turn Renee and some more of the guys in my aviary
  10. I will get his traditional soft food recipe and post.
  11. Use quote brackets or reply so you can show where Ladas were mentioned. Additional to this I am going to mention that this particular breeder is feeding chicken daily to the birds. Every budgie in a breeder cage is getting a good tablespoon each day of ground chicken with ground bone through it ( chicken necks cooked for hours to remove fat, and to soften bones and then put through a mincer ) and they are eating the lot.
  12. 158. When family members roll their eyes when you say your weekend involves a budgie club show or event. 159. When everytime you take a car to a budgtie show with birds in it, your husband grizzles about budgie seed all over the seats of the car  160. When you get dressed up to go out for the evening, do a last minute check on the birds and then go out with feathers in your hair.
  13. I will take some pictures once I have changed it around a little due to the door setup changing. Dusk in the babies flight
  14. Red eyes or plum ? There is a big difference
  15. Renee asked me today which of these two chicks had YOUR legring on it But as we know Renee is too trusting ... Now now Renee, don't be too hard on yourself. That is a damn fine question, and the people have the right to know the answer. So which one is it Kaz, Frannie or Mac? Come on, don't keep the masses waiting. the doubt about whether one of them is mine has gone. Now the only question remains is which one is mine? Well? Which one? They both look great by the way Kaz. Sorry to disappoint Neither of these are yours Dave  But this one has your legring on
  16. Frannie and Mac are doing fine
  17. Here is the photo taken on the day of the show of the greywing hen. She is still a baby and still has a bit of growing to do. And if memory serves me correct she also took out Best Novice UBC at Saturday's MBC Show! Not sure....I won Best Novice and best reserve novice, best young bird and best dom pied and best greywing. Newly hatched greywing chick on top....foster chick underneath
  18. I agree ..................
  19. True.......I should have taken the time to do him
  20. Dried up poop means it hasnt been able to poop once it set hard around the vent....this is toxic and can kill them. Squeezing the vent maybe wasnt a good idea as sometimes you can crack the pelvis doing that. If you are hoping someone will give you a cure that doesnt involve the vet, at this stage I wont either....... VET or expect it to die. By you saying you just brought home the budgie in this condition....where from and why ?
  21. Wow mate I would say she is better than her father. Well done
  22. 141, when an outing in the car means stopping at all the salvo's or st vinnies shops looking for wine racks for budgie perching in the aviary. 142. when bulk refuse throwout areas mean a new search for old cots for dowel sections for perching. 143. when money is short, you know exactly how to GROVEL to your partner to get new budgie money for an auction.
  23. clearflight as well Try taking all future photos of each birds as a seperate photo of the bird in a single cage not a group shot. Also NO FLASH on camera, and front and back photos. it helps
