  7. Pretty funky and neat ................Maesie is right about quarantine....once I brought a doll in the the USA through ebay and quarantine opened the box and checked it out as there was an organic necklace on the doll that they confiscated. But just the same.....maybe imitate the ideas ?

sorry, i dont see my "attack" at all :emoticon112: but i am an owner of four cats and over 300 birds. I just dont like the word hate used in any form really. My personal thing.
  9. BUMP! does anyone have an answer to this? Mods? All you had to do was PM a mod or admin :emoticon112:
  10. No, it would be Di. But I get your point Renée is such a beautiful name in French and Spanish but in Australian it turns into Rinaiiiii. (yuk!) Renee would be Ren or Rezza
  11. We have a princess parrot that was raised with a pink and grey galah and it speaks galah :emoticon112:
  12. Looking real good Renee :emoticon112:

Do it do it do it do it I HATE CATS There area great many budgie and bird owners who also love and own cats.......................hating any creature has to have another hidden reason or some form of childhood "brainwashing" in play :emoticon112:
  15. Untrue Sean..................birds can mate as a recreational birdie sex past time and not produce eggs. Eggs are not the result only of a mating, but a culmination of a set of things being right...............good food source, a place to lay eggs and raise babies. :emoticon112:
  16. Photos of birds are best taken with no flash............especially if you want people to help you sex them or check out their colour or type for instance....try your camera without flash and see how you go. If it is automatic flash, cover the flash with a piece of tape. :emoticon112:
  17. Hi Sean You can post pictures here if you open a free photobucket account and post the image links...................size limit here is 480 by 640 Good to see you here and active :grouphug:

you seem to have now experienced what happens when you colony breed. Here are some pretty babies from when I used to colony breed ( before I knew better ) Really pretty babies.............. a few days after these photos were taken all babies were slaughtered by another female who decided she wanted the nest for herself. :grouphug:
  19. Lucky you living so close :grouphug: Doesnt vetafarm sell via their website anyway ?
  20. Dont expect to have strips torn off you.......... :grouphug: ...........not everyone can race off to the vet,.... especially if financial reasons are in play. If she was huddled on the bottom of the cage then there would be a need. Suggestion you watch her closely then, keep her away from any possible draughts, keep her temperature even whereever she is. Warm lamp helps in most cases of it isnt hot where you are right now. Watch her diet ( any changes to diet ? What is she being fed ? ). Observation is key to any changes that may make a difference.
  21. Big Blue has taken the major role in feeding Nubbly....and the poor little beggar is filled to bursting point
  22. Yep, gotta bite the bullet and do exactly the same here.
  23. I already asked about that Kaz... and answered above. However... you need to feel her keel bone. Just looking won't tell you much. You need to catch her and feel it, and while you're at it... check her all out. I don't think she just looks hot. By the look of her she doesn't look well. I'd be off to the vet. I know you asked Maesie and that why I added to that request.................as it seemed the bird was just looked at not felt. Impressing now the importance of asking for a physical feel and check of the bird and report back, please....no matter if she strips the very skin off your fingers...............its really really important .
  24. What you plan to do takes discipline and a very good eye for whats in your aviary and that speaks of knowledge and experience. I am not sure I am at that stage yet, but I aim to be. While we novices do our own culling and not let the bigger boys who have offered, in to do it for us, I guess we are held back. The bigger more successful breeders in our state do offer to do our culling but a prime fear would be to lose all bar a small handful of our birds in the aviary and stand there like.. It would makie us think we were going backwards to see what little we had left after someone's elses cull of our birds. BUT I guess its what we have to do at some point and most likely sooner rather than later. Re the naming of birds.......some special ones here get names, some members of BBC expect names of our birds and the rest I recognise by eye and confirm by ring numbers and records. Who could keep track of 30 odd grey greens that all look the same and still give them names...........not me Naming some birds is a part of what started us in this game......breeding pet type budgies in the beginning. So some of us still do it, but minimally. If some of my old original pet breeding stock were to find its way into my aviary now, I would wonder what that pin headed budgie was doing there. C~est la vie
  25. Excellent job !!!!
