Too many distractions for breeding pairs if the breeding cabinets are inside the aviary, especially if the other birds clamber all over them. If you could section off an internal part of the aviary for your breeding cages it would work well and you have enough space for that too.

I wont advise you on nunbers if you are colony breeding............a search on thsi forum will show how what a bad idea that is to do. Even recently members have had disasters occur due to colony breeding. AND you wont be home 24 hours a day to watch and take immediate steps should things go horribly wrong will you ? Buy or build some breeder cages.............less chance of damaged eggs and or killed chicks.

  18. I previous member of this forum laid claim to my photos once.....I never gave permission. Once she had them in use she gave permission for other individuals to use them on their websites................I found them and tackled them on it. I wouldnt mind so much if permission was sought and granted. Anything else feels like theft.
  19. Wonderful I so understand where you are coming from. Hard work but you will enoy the effort and the end product. Kudos to you babe
  20. Remember the cats saliva is toxic to birds...if the cat chews the grass you cant use it for the birds. No, I wasn't planning to let them both eat from the same grass but I was going to grow two pods at once and give one to the birds and one to the cat....do you think that if they are both grown from the fountain the cat drinks from that this would be toxic for the birds? It is filtered but would her mouth touching the water pose a problem??? I had no idea cat saliva was toxic to the birds. I figured cat saliva was only a threat if the bird was in the cat's mouth!!! Growing the grass in the container the cat drinks from and expecting the cat NOT to eat from the grass would be expecting a little too much dont you think ?
  21. With the hot weather we have had here in Perth, have you been hosing down, wetting, or spraying the birds and ending up with wet ground at all ? If so coccidiosis will be in play and you need the birds...................all of them.................on COCCIVET as soon as you can get it into them.
