  1. Renee if your clearwings have markings that dark grey....I would give up breeding them if I was you
  2. You will notice that the aviary is sitting towards that back of the slab. The reason for this is to allow a safety door to be built and attached. I have the metal, wire, joiners and everything else required, but there was no way I was going to attach said door until the aviary was back in position. Now this is completed, it is my next thing "to do" with regards to the aviary. Good move....there may even be room if its full width to store seed in drums in that area. Have you also seen those sinks that attach to hoses..?? Like this http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_produc...entre_1117.aspx

A very sad day for you suffice to say he has also left little footprints on your heart not just his children and grandchildren around your aviary
  4. Leg ring will have NOTHING to do with sex of budgie no matter what leg its on. It must be said that a bird needs settling in time in a new home, not adding to stress levels by putting it straight down to breed with no 30 day quarantine at all the day you get it home Bad move.
  5. Large scale, loads of birds, very commercial - I guess they just don't have the time Places like this must have once opened the store based on a good feeling for birds. Somewhere along the way the commercial gain kicks in and the birds become the least important thing.
  6. Last week we called in at a very well known bird place in Belmont in W.A. ( wont mention exact name of store ) s we were in the area. In the baby budgie cage was a budgie with obvious beak and feather. It had only body feathers and flights and tail were missing. I have enough experience of these things to recognise the issues. The budgie was in with the babies. I talked to a shop staff member and advised he had a high risk infected bird in with the other babies.......said it should be removed and also culled. His response was.....Its a baby budgie isnt it ? He didnt care and made no moves to remove the budgie. My thoughts are some unsuspecting person who doesnt know enough will buy that poor object thinking they are just buying a very young baby who either hasnt developed fully yet, or they will think it has clipped wings. Unscrupulous ? Yes. Not the first time this place has been taken to task by me and ignored all. They had fully mature budgies once in an open display on tree branches...........All had clipped wings so they couldnt fly away and they were advertising them all as baby budgies !! All had mature fully coloured ceres. A customer was about to buy one of these so called baby budgies and I told them they were adults with clipped wings to apear as if they were babies. The manager saw me advising them and came over and stood there giving me the evil eye.
  7. Well the one on the left appears to be a spangle Elly doesn't just appear to be kaz your right it is and id say just normal not greywing Exactly
  8. It is a lacewing. Also have you a closer clearer cere photo as it could well be a male. In lacewings the cere of a male wont be blue but pink so determining sex by cere is more difficult. What age did he says it was ? I removed your other double post where you posted this same topic in two places.......against rules.

  11. Through another club. PM me for details
  12. The brand is called Triangle........I will check on if it comes in from over east The seed, as it turns out is Western Australian grown...from KUNNUNURRA
  13. The idea is to have the inside floor level of the aviary around two inches higher than the outer floor level of the aviary. Water cannot run uphill. BUT as you are working with a ready to go slab you cant do it that way. Try some rubber belting between slab and bottom aviary rails and some silicon when fixed into place. Cannot be where inquisitive budgies will get at it or chew it though.
  14. As CW says they have to be exact to specifications. Here is the plans http://www.bcv.asn.au/Show%20Cage.htm http://www.bcv.asn.au/cage.pdf

  19. This is the seed I was using ( Golden Cob ) and the seed I am using now My birds get soft food and vegies all year round.
  20. Check out my greywing topic and see how the skyble greywings looked as chickies....it will help you ID yours.
  21. Adding to what Renee said about seed brands..........I have just changed to another brand of seed as my budgies for whatever reason werent eating the canary seed much in the other seed blend........the new brand I am using has much larger seed....millets etc. Any as far as seed over here goes, 99% of it is brought in from the eastern states and not local at all.
