  1. Whoa! Would never have even suspected that those measures are in place Sadly there must have been a precedent for this to have come into effect. I guess that's why this year for the blue rings it isn't a 10 but (0 .... I had wondered about that! This is common knowledge Renee
  2. That will be fine Sean
  3. Dont forget A.I.L. also comes in ready to use strength and concentrate as well..... Both of you ( Amy S and LittleBudgie2005 ) ................. we sell A.I.L at MBC on the products table cheaper than the stores.

  14. Kaz, I am interested to know how you came by this information. In all my research material I have on hand there is no mention of Dom Pied be involved in the development of the Spangle. I remember being told for years that Spangles originated with in an aviary of Recessive Pieds. Even the ANBC Standard in the "Evolution of Colour Varieties" section does not support this. Cyril Rogers account of the Spangle in his book "World of Budgerigars" also makes no mention. The head spot in Spangles is fairly common and has nothing to do with inheritence of any of the current available Pied types. The mutation itself is Leucistic in nature and involves similar process to Pieds. Another problem we are facing with some Spangles in their appearance with a Dominant Pied head patch. Although history tells us that Pieds were involved in the Spangle production, the Colour Standards has made no allowance for history unfortunately. So should Spangles with head patch win on the show bench because of the bird's quality? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/k_jones/clwyd...gle_variety.htm Another anomaly is the appearance of Spangles with the head patch, similar to that of the Dominant Pied variety, further indicating that a link between those two varieties might exist. http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/specialist/spang/spghalib.html There was another site with better info than this but was saved into my other PC that I cannot access right now.
  15. Likely they were bred from show stock or a pet type to show type pairing. Might just be a grand parent was a show type budgie and it has thrown bigger chicks genetically.
  16. I agree with CW.............one to four years of age. Wont breed older hen after four years...incidence of eggbinding and prolapse is high in hens after 4 years. I have bred two 6 year old cocks.....reduced amount of chicks but still quality chicks and no health issues to the cock.
  17. You dont think you are going to get away with not posting new pikkies are you come on...you can do it PS she will be fine feeding the babies....make sure plenty of easy food for her in the nestbox ( seed ) and soft food real close to the nestbox. Thanks KAZ...I have been feeding her on the cage floor as this is where she chose to lay her eggs. Everything within reach for her as the male has been a virtually useless partner in this whole process. But then again, if somebody kept pecking me in the head I'd probably opt out too! I'll try to get some pictures over the next couple of days. I sure hope most of the babies turn out to be males...I seem to have ended up with an abundance of hens in my flock. All will be good.
  18. Yeah, sorry. Check the underside of the top panels. If good, you can prise them off and turn over and then have a better surface to sand and work with.
  19. I was forced to use some that size as holding cages while the new flights were being built. At most they had 20 babies in them each but ideally I would rather ten.

  21. When you can we would love to see a picture of her. There is a link in my signature on how to post photos
  22. By roof panels do you mean the top ?
  23. I have no bugs, no moths or anything like that and I havent even run my mozzie zapper either for two years. I had more trouble with moths and bugs when I trialled the deep litter system. So I didnt do deep litter again...the whole season I trialled deep litter I had all kinds of moths, crickets, bugs and french moult. Havent had it since.
  24. If you use flaky bran or even quick cooking porridge oats both of which is finer than wood shavings, they dont throw the nesting materials out as its too hard to do
