  1. This makes me very very sad Sorry Liv
  2. Well some birdrooms have all these procedures in place for "visitors" including disinfectant baths for shoes/feet as you step in ...............only a step away from the mesh under perches that you do. All protections in place
  3. This teaches the newbies to breeding budgies that it is not all about cere colour. Cere colour is NO INDICATOR of old enough to breed. Iris rings are also another adding factor to determine age and old enough to breed......... or not.
  4. To a degree. Treat ( medicate ) all at the same time, BUT if issues appear in one aviary then you have to treat with seperate quarantine procedures. Keep spare shoes at the door of each aviary....shoes only for that aviary. You can purchase dustcoats ( like laboratory coats ) to cover clothing for each aviary to avoid cross contamination in anticipation of an aviary having a health issue that isnt present in the other aviary across the yard.
  5. YES. Transmission is also by same shoes worn in and out of different aviaries, same clothes etc.

Great photos and introduction to your pets Renee
  7. Wow! Now he is developing into a GORGEOUS bird! Spangle markings a bit fuzzy but who cares! I'd put him to another Spangle and breed DFs, though really with a bird of his caliber the possibilities are endless!!! LUCKY, LUCKY YOU Dave. Spangle markings a bit fuzzy due to being OPALINE
  8. Just under 12 months I would say.....around 10 months ?
  9. It's not a hen thing.....most of my boy budgies do it too
  10. You can quarantine them together because they came from the same place Olive green budgies have navy blue tails. If the tail is black its a grey green. Commonly mistaken for olive.
  11. What about the incidence of injury causing a feather cyst Matt ? Seems a seed found its way in and caused this mess for this particular hen.
  12. Not necessarily. They have iris rings from 5-6 months. Its the colour of the iris ring that tells the age. She looks a little too young to me and thats why the inquiry.
  13. I noticed in this photo that Quiche is missing some flights............and had just been saying to Dave how Quiche prefers the floor. So I went to check..................four flights on both sides are missing but the new ones are coming through. So must be moulting early.
  14. Its the right colour. Is she old enough ? Over 12 months ? Iris ring colour ?
  15. Canary seed....................... I was told it was super important for breeding pairs feeding babies. Then why did most of mine leave the canary seed alone out of the mix, and eat everything else ?

... Typos I think! Or else Matt is just in another dimension ... I think he means: It's a whole different world when you're on that stuff- just a rough translation. It's a natural sedative to treat insomnia I think maybe Matt must be on it at the moment sending him off to la la land :D Is that right Matt? I knew it wasnt a typo
  18. I think she will..........average is 5 or more You can candle and see if some are fertile right now. Each egg at around 5 days onwards will show red spidery veins if fertile. Dont handle them. Put a strong torchlight behind the egg ( in the nestbox ) facing forward to where youy are so you can see...............while the Mum is out of the box.

  20. What makes you think she might have stopped laying based on her fourth egg ? You will know when she has stopped as the every 2 days an egg will change and suddenly there wont be another.
