Some New Birds
Very nice birds Dave. They should get you ahead. Worst thing about great birds like that is once you look in your aviary you see so many others that simply MUST GO

Dying Budgies!
Mice can get through any gap that is 10mm. I thought you said the birds were . they seem to be out with no roof over them and in the weather. Which is it....under the patio or out in the weather ? One of your cages is rusting so it must be getting wet Plastic Dave means is heavy duty plastic sheeting ( not perspex ) I think
-
Expanda Foam
My birdroom is lined with coated ply and insulated with polyester batts. What you choose to use depends I suppose on if damp would get in.
-
Expanda Foam
Might be more hassle....but cheaper and safer would be actual cement. But if you have no birds in there and none nearby you could use the expandafoam I guess. I just wouldnt want birds chewing it, if it was me. Re the insulation..........dont use fibreglass batts. Use the polyester batts ....its safer. If your flights are NOT as high as 2.1m or 2.4m insulate both sides.
-
Expanda Foam
Would be toxic while using it and chewable by budgies..........where do you need to block holes ? Photo ? Any other way ?

Dying Budgies!
Birds seem to be out in the open so draughts are a very real probability. Two outer cages are low enough to the ground to allow mice to access. Once access to those cages they then reach the middle cage. Food is on floor for access to mice and also will have bird droppings land in the dishes. Whats in the food dishes ? Condys crystals ? WHY ? New bird ? Quarantine ? where is it now ? I truly dont think you have good solutions for your illness in your birds yet............but you are still adding new birds.......buying new birds ? I say STOP adding, as you have maxed out your cages now. Get a better system and health standard for the birds before adding new ones.

Are you sure of the sexes of your birds ? As Ray ( the male ) is going through his first moult and did you know that young females have ceres with blue on it ? Blue with whitish is a young female.

Unintended Budgie Owner
Lucky budgie is all I can say. Lucky he found you and didnt become a cats dinner. He isnt very old. I would say around 10-12 months old....leaning more towards ten months. I am with the others on a seed plus fruit and vegies diet. Too many vets are brainwashed these days about so call "complete diets" for all kind of animals and they all recommend pellet type diets. I wouldnt recommend an all dry food diet for my cats or dogs, so I wouldnt for a budgie either. A quality seed with extra vegies makes for a healthy bird. Exercise where you can for him and a cage big enough for him to fly across it..........wider rather than a tall cage. This photo shows he is a dominant or clearflight pied but others who are expert in that kind of pied will narrow it down for you and give you his exact mutation I would throw out the mirror....they affect a birds mental state. You may then have a budgie that bonds with you rather than a mirror or needing a budgie friend. Welcome to our forum
