  1. All kindie cage babies were moved today.....into a kindie cage twice the size as they seemed cramped. You should have seen them playing HELICOPTER they were flapping wings like crazy and rising into the air trying to work out how to get higher up the cage. Funny as
  2. This occurs under normal circumstances in the nest too, without the involvement of soft food.
  3. Doesnt look like a normal green spangle to me so I say YF
  4. I make mine like porridge consistency.
  5. Its all very well to talk about what they do in nature but the average wild budgie out there is so very far removed from what we breed right now in our cabinets Good luck with the egg
  6. My birds occasionally get wholegrain bread and demolish it with no evident side affects. I know many a breeder who gives bread to their budgies not in large quantities, and ken feeds wholegrain bread to his parrots too 3 times a week.
  7. Wow...........thats starting early I recall one of our club members over here ( in his late 70's ) who decided to hold up some youngsters in a breeding cage of all things and didnt block off the nestbox. When he noticed a 12 week old female missing he found her in the nestbox on 5 eggs. He does some silly things due to age and not thinking this gentleman but it goes to show it can happen. Based on your experience it may be a good thing to seperate the sexes ?
  8. If you mean crested budgies..............there are some here in this topic http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....c=25512&hl=
  9. I dont know why you assume you will get into a heated debate on wing clipping Even though I don t ever clip wings, I do know there is a need for it for other reasons than my own, so you will get good advice here without any repercussions I am sure
  10. I like the little guy in your avatar. It almost looks like he has a handlebar moustache! I knew there was something i was seeing when I looked at him and now you have hit the nail on the head I even went as far as to ask a judge what was wrong with him and she said NOTHING !! and she wished he was in her nestbox. I just felt something was weird and you just worked it out
  11. Have you a male with her ? Also......budgies lay every two days as a rule not every day......are you sure of the timing of the eggs ?
  12. Unless you write down on your records that that particular bird arrived with a black beak it would be hard at culling time to know it ever had one. Vanishes soon after fledging age. However some of my black beaked babies turned out to be very good
  13. 'Melanin in budgies generally refers to0markings.........like wing markings etc. Some seem to think the black beak indicates an abundance of melanin......dark markings which bode well for the birds development. There may be differing opinions on how this is perceived
  14. Im back , Not much of a singles thread!!! going on here , Although there seams to be alot of interest here , 3 Days since I posted the thread and already there has been 374 views. Yes I am single , I think someone asked ? , I have a son whos nearly 7 . Perhaps you should design a questionaire for here
  15. and ....? If you are asking what mutation he is opaline skyblue spangle
  16. Black beaks indicates melanin. Its a good thing and not a bad thing, not a deficiency or anything like that. A lot of breeders see a black beak as a reason to keep that chick.
  17. Good that you moved those eggs
  18. Yeah PAIR EIGHT.......sorry Mate I got my numbers mixed up. Have over thirty pairs going right now and after the weekend it will be close to 40 all up. The pied cock is bred by Mark Hawke of this forum....he is very long...stands two inches taller than most and two inches longer tail than most as well
  19. Either you have dainty hands or these chicks are a whopping great handful !! I think you are going to surprise the *** out of your fellow club members in a very short space of time GB !!!
  20. Keep this one no taming up for a friend...you will regret it. Seen the feather on that chick ?? and length of mask ?? and the furrow of longer feather going out over the eyes ?? KEEP IT
  21. Does your white male with a hint of blue, have black eyes ? If so it may be a double factor white spangle with suffusion.
