(Laughing out loud) no problem Daz What if- you made it do you can lock it from the outside aswell! So then when you come home from work, and go to aviary, you open up the outer door, and then the other one (new screen one) is closed shut. This way, you can inspect the inside, and once you feel its safe, unlock it, or unhook it, or simply open it, step inside, then shut/lock both doors behind you! That way, it can also act as a screen door in nice weather, so you can open up the outer door, but keep the mesh one locked, yet still have the protection of no more escaping birds!!! Kirby
  11. HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH....my new violet spangles name is Oscar too!!! I wanted Blinky, but Bea wouldnt let me! Well, Ariel (my hen whos having these eggs) started checking out nest box pretty fast. She knew what it was by this time, since she loved to play with it when she was a baby. So, she wasnt really scared of it, and when about 3 months old, she would just sit in it, and called it her own. I then took it away for about 8-10 months, and the very second i put it back in, she went right in it, and started making it her nesting site. From then on, shes loved it, and had a clutch before this one. They were infertile, so i took it out for about a month, and now long story short, she has 4 eggs..and maybe another tomorrow! YAY! Hope some babies are bron this time! As for mating, she has been with my oldest male Chico for aboput 2 years...(hes two years older) and they HATED eachother MADLY!!!!! Until one day, she went in the 'mating position' for him, but he would never mount. She wanted babies SOOOo badly, she laid 5 without mating, which is why her 1st bacth was infertile. This time though, he mounts her like 20 times a day, but ive seen none successful yet! However hes getting better balance, and is now able to stick his tail under hers whether its a successful mating, hes trying! So hopefully one attempt did work this time, and we might get babies!!! ps-QUESTION: Do the cloacas have to touch? I have heard the male can spray his sperm instead of actually touching, and she can get fertilized properly? Or should i say succssfully Is that true... PLEASE SAY IT IS...BECUASE THEN I KNOW ILL HAVE BABIES!!!...(Laughing out loud)... Kirby-Sorry for long post Kirby

yes Daz...i mean another door to block it incase when you open the door to walk in, one has escaped, and flies off like poor Chime did Im talking about like a clotch even, or a mesh screen....so you can see throuigh it when you open the door from outside.... I just dont want you to have to go through another loss! Has anyone found poor Snowy yet?...or would you know? Kirby
  13. Una...please get a video of cute little Munchy talking!!! Hes soo adorable! OH MY GOSH!!! .(Laughing out loud)...i just love him and Apple to peices! Kirby
  14. Hey Shawna! Im sorry i did not reply to this yet, we Canadians need to stick together! My idea is to build a outdoor one on stilts. Im planning on making one with a plywood back, and sides....with a wire front, and bottom. It will be a play cage, and i will bring them in at night, to put in the nice big indoor cage. They all LOVE the sun, and the wind, so im sure theyll love it to peices! Im going to make it about 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 3 feet tall i think...and maybe make a slide out tray, but if not, ill keep the floor wire, so the small amount(s) of poop just falls in grass.... Im going to clip there wings before they go in it, and make sure the doors are locked at ALL times, since im moving to an unfinished neoughbourhood in the end of July, and we wont even have grass yet, and theres a forest accross the street, behind other new houses! Im going to make a huge door, about 2 feet long, centered in the middle of the front pannel, but im going to divide it seperatly, so i can make that i can open both doors, and it can be 2 feet long, or if i only need to, i can only unhook one, and have a door 1 foot long... get it? (Laughing out loud) Kirby

So what kind of wood do people make aviaries out of then? Isnt it pine, and plywood? Im thinking if making a small aviary on stilts for my budgies in the summer to have a nice, sunny, and shady, play area during the day, then bring them in at night..... So, what wood do i use for it then? Kirby
  16. No, she laid her 4th yesterday....in Canada it was the 15th..(Laughing out loud)...which was saterday, so tomrrow is the 17th...in which the new egg should be here! I hope to the budgiegods that some of these guys will hatch! Kirby
  17. UPDATE: Egg 4 is here! Im not going to even number this one...im scared to touch them now! So, hopefully egg 5 will be here tomrrow! And hopefully at least one will hatch!!! Kirby
  18. Thanks you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much Daz! Im going to make some for my pairs in the summer. This way, i can have Chico and Ariel in one, Kirby and Belle in another once Belle is old enough, then Mickey and Tango in the flight cage. I have a nice big wrought iron cage...that the breeding cages will fit inside them, since my mom wants only 'one cage'. This way, i will still only have one cage, but two smaller ones in it If i were to build two, thats all i need to get going! :) Kirby
  19. I have a few questions: -what wood is the breeding cages made up of? -what wood is the nest boxes made up of? -what do you use to hold the breeding cage walls together? (silicone, nails, screws, glue?) -what do you use to hold the next boxe walls together? (silicone, glue, nails, screws?) -what are the dimensions on the breeding boxes...they seem perfect! I want to make some! Since you cant ship one to Canada thanks a bunch Daz! I you! hahahahaha Kirby

They are adorable! I would love to live in FLorida...but i hate storms...and hurricanes hit there all the time! Where is the safest place to live in Florida, to still be near the nice beeches, but away from danger? Kirby
  25. OH MY GOSH!!!...i never knew that! IM NEVER TOUCHING THE EGGS ANYMORE THEN! Maybe thats what happened last time, since i handled them a lot! I feel soo bad now! AWWW!!!! I hope they live! Kirby
