  1. okay..thx docca... E V E R Y O N E says to put in shavings e.t.c, so i did it this way so it was VERY realistic and she felt productive....Regarding them breeding, do you think they will still want to pair up with eachother even if the nest box isnt in???..i just thought it would make them want to bond even more....ya, im going to build a couple wooden boxes out of wood. Some will be the tall ones, some will be the normal 'flat' ones. And no, actually, the two hens bonded, and the two males bonded. The one female is only like 14 weeks old, so hence why im not trying to breed her..(Laughing out loud). I will position 3 or 4 next boxes at various levels, and placed on ALL walls....to give vairety once again.... okay, i gtg now..bye Buddy
  2. (Laughing out loud)..thx Daz I have 4 all together. A yellow faced blue type 1, whos is about 1..maybe 11 months old named Kirby. Then my other male Chico is about 4, i breed him when i was 8. Then my girls include Ariel whos about 2 now, white recessive pied, and Belle my new baby from pet store ia now about 14 weeks old and is a sky blue normal. I want to breed Kirby with Ariel to get white and yellow pieds, and blues, yellow faced blues, and dominant pieds possibly...but neither of them are dominant pieds, so i doubt that one..(Laughing out loud) I just put Kirby and Ariel into the 30x12x18 flight cage, and Chico is now in with Belle in a 20x10'18 store baught cage. Kirby and Ariel are already flirting, and head bobing, e.t.c. I have out in the nest box, and filled it with twigs, sticks, various tupes of shavings, and kleenex to make her have a variety, and to make her feel int eh nesting mood. She has already started to pull the sticks out, as well as the shavings, and i just looked at them, and his iris rings are flaring, and shes sitting low beside him on the perch....good sign or no? They DO get into a lot of fights, and she is older than him so i have my doubts theyll breed, but i think if im patient they will. THey are both moulting now, so im not expecting babies, nor do i want them now, since i want to wait till they are in best condition as possible. I do know A L O T about breeding, as ive breed since i was 8, till i was about 11, i now im 16 on Macrh 2!!!...so i want to get back into it... So any help would be appreciated...thx guys! Oh and ive filed down a vitamen block into their food cups, and on there food, so they extra calcium (i had it hung in the cage for ever, but no one touched it except Chico, so this way, they all get extra calcium and minerals when they eat..(Laughing out loud), sneaky me! They also have fresh vegies daily, and cuttlebones! thx kirby

I just put the two ones im trying to breed together like half an hour ago, and hes courting her AREADY, and singing to her...head bobbing e.t.c, and shes alreay clearing the nest box!!!..i put carefresh ultra (white, toilet paper material hamster shavings), twigs, and pine shavings in the box....to make it realistic with various goodies for her to make it feel like a home..!!! 4. Hey guys... I have 2 budgies, 2 males, and 2 females. My males are 4, and otherone is about 1. The females are 2, and the new one is like 14 weeks old (store baught). Now, heres my question?!?!? The males seem to have bonded, and are leaving out the females, even though the older one is ready to nest (diggin in nest box, brown cere e.t.c). Im going to build an aviary in the spring, for my room, so should i put the two birds that i want to breed (yr old yellow faced blue type 1, and hen is a white recessive pied) in the aviary by themselves for the first couple months with a nest box to bond and maybe breed?!?!?!....I want babies soooo badly, and i want to fill up my future aviary with babies instead of having to buy some.... What do you guys suggest i do? Or should i build aviary, AND a wooden breeding cage, and put the pair i want to breed in the wooden cage, and the oldest male, and baby female in avairy so they can have more room to fly and play (not going to breed them..(Laughing out loud)..too young..(Laughing out loud)). What would u suggest guys?!?!?!? thx Kirby syr, i have 4 budgies..(Laughing out loud)..2 male n 2 females...forget the first 4 words i wrote down...(Laughing out loud), i meant 4*, not 2..(Laughing out loud) sry Kirby Moderator’s Message to user Kirby please be reminded that we ask members to refrain from using text shortcuts on the boards. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....ardrules#textsh Thank you
  5. I have the same nest box. Its black, with two 'doors' the panels that slide out. The first one is dark, and the second is clear. So they must have removed it so they could get a candid. Its plastic, and very hard. My females have soo far only chewed like the tiniest slivers out of the whole part, unnoticable though...and ive had 4 clutches in is, still perfect and working great, unlike wooden ones that wear down afetr time. I have a question?!? I have 2 females and two males. I want to breed my yellow faced blue with my recessive white pied female in spring. As of now, the two males are flirting to oneanother, and are showing no intrest in the females whos ready for babies (VERY DARK CERE!!!) Im going to build an indoor aviary for my room in summer, so should i only put the two i want to breed in the aviary for the first couple months with a nestbox so they bond, and hopefully breed???...or should i make wooden breeding boxes???..PLEASE REPLY!!!..(Laughing out loud) Kirby

Hey guys! I have always offered my budgies fresh veggies, iodine block..and a cuttlebone! But they only touch to veggies and cuttlebone..so as of this second..ive been grating (with a new mini nail file) the iodine block..into the big container i have for the food before it goes into their cage! This way, the iodine is on the food, so when they eat the food, they get iodine!!!...i think it will work great as i want to breed my guys in the spring..so this way i am making sure they get minerals!!!.... ps-should i also grate the cuttlebone as ive only see 2 of the three actually chew it...or would grating it decrease shortening their beeks???...so should i leave it whole...and let them sharpen their beeks???..or grate it up as well???....suggestions please!!!!!..... Thx guys Kirby
  7. Hey guys!!!...just me Kirby bugging ya for more info..(Laughing out loud) As many of you know, i am the proud owner of a yellow faced, recessive blue pied type 2, a cinnamon pied blue, a sky blue, white faced type 1 and a yellow faced blue type 1...which are al beautiful!!! And i have wanted to breed the yellow faced blue male with my cinnamon pied female...then my recessive yellow pied with my skyblue female once shes old enough....my question is this, i have heard most people switch the pairs of budgies like every month...and they birds breed like right away!!!..after in introduction! I thought they normally take like 3 years of constant love to breed, btu i didnt know one can just plop a new male bird into the cage, let him father a clutch, then swipe him with another male once the female is ready to re-breed!!!.....I have breed numerous other clutches before...and they didnt even mate the first time for like 3 years!...and they were my only pair so they were religious together.....!!! So, i was wondering that when i build my aviary which will be 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 7 feet tal...if i should borrow a few of my freind dads breeding budgies to breed with my existing flock..then swipe birds every couple of months...to get different gened birds..so no inbreeding occurs! I will have th aviary open like a flight..then probably build 2-3 breeding cages out of half inch wire, and malimine board.....Would that be fine..then once the babies are grown up..release them into the aviary, and switch one of the adults with a new one...???..or is it a bad idea??? This set up would be like Bea's set up...with breeding cages and the main flight cage....then i also might handrear a selected baby in summer time as i definatley cannot during school time!!! ps-should i divide the aviary into half....and make the safety door/food storage area between both of the flights which will be 4 feet wide, by 3 feet long and 7 feet tall each?..with the 2 foot wide, and 4 foot long safety door dividing the flights..so i can walk into the middle of the aviary..shut the outside door, then open the left or right aviary cage door....so i have no escapees??? This was i can have different birds divided (such as babies to adults, english to american, brother to sister, or breeding to non-breeding and have a breeding colony instead of breeding boxes???...????) Thx guys..sry for long message...(Laughing out loud) ____________ Anyone???.... please????...(Laughing out loud) bye Kirby ____________ Anyone????... not even Nerwen or Lin or Bec or Lovey...im heartbroken..(Laughing out loud) Bye

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw....i want babies!!!!!....... But too bad mine arent breeding!!!...(Laughing out loud)....i sure as *** wish they did!...Turst me, im not one of those peeps who put two pretty babies in same cage,m breed them at 6 months old...and cry when the babies die since i thought i was being a perfect grandfather!!!..(Laughing out loud) I have breed my babies numerous times (the parents were like 3 and 2 yrs old) and on the first time of nesting...8 little babies hacthed all 100% healthy!!!....the second time around, i got 5, which in deed were all healthy until on halloween night...the mommie died, whidh in turn killed the youngest baby!!!...i was so0o0o0o0o sad..two in one night!!!.. but anyways, i am back at it again..trying to breed one of my beautiful males (preferibbly Kirby) with my ***** little female Ariel!!!...(Laughing out loud) (i dont know if its appropirate to say that..but i couldnt think of another word...)..all she does is flirt with everyone, play in nest box, eat, flirt, play in nest box, flirt, flirt some more..then maybe eat again..yet the still doesnt woo either male as they turned gay..oopies!!!..(Laughing out loud) ttyl guys...bye Kirby
  9. Ths guys for all of the input!!!...it was useful! The thing is, that i bet i know more then 80% of people who actually breed their birds..(Laughing out loud)....sorry if that sound mean, but i know the ups and downs that go along with breeding, as many of you know, i started breeding my budgies when i was 8!!!... I guess that i do want to colony breed...which is why im building the aviary in spring with my dad ...however im only going to if i know that the parents will be 100% healthy, strong, willing to mate, and overall happy!...Im not one to MAKE them..or force them into anything...however there are times that i do want to force them into becoming parents since they get so0o0o cute and i cant wait to get babies one day!!...(Laughing out loud) As Nerwen put it..i can either sacrafice Belle becoming tame...for now.... as to MAYBE getting babies!!!..(Laughing out loud)...so i dunno what to do...(Laughing out loud)! I think im going to just tame Belle for now..then add Ariel in the aviry first...the add Kirby after her..according to you Nerwen..(Laughing out loud)...ps-thx for site...its good! So, i gtg now, but thankx again for the advice, and i hope you understand my position even more now..(Laughing out loud)...bye guys! Kirby
  10. WOW!!!..(Laughing out loud)..thanks for all of the great support guys!!!.... No, none of them have iris rings yet (neither pieds do..and Chico is 4, Ariel is 18 months i think...i knew the were reccsive, but i just dont know what mutations they were as you guys said yourself..their all so0o0o unique...except Belle...(Laughing out loud) Yea..im excited to start my reef tank Bec..(Laughing out loud)..cant wait to add clwonfish! Ps-as you all know, that my babies (adults which i call my babies) are in breeding condition other then new Belle, what is the best way to seduce them into breeding? I was thinking of putting Ariel, Chico, and BElle in my brothers room (hes at collage to be a pilot)..and to leave Kirby alone for a while to become lonely. Then add Ariel so he get soo0o0 happy with her that they breed....is that a good idea???..the thing is though that BElle is already in my spare cage to try and tame her.....so id have to put Chico, and Ariel with her for now..and then restart btaming her once i put the other guys in the other room. The other thing is that the two guys love eachother, and the two girls love eachother!!...so thats why i dunno if anything will work?!?!?!?!..wat do you guys think????....im building an aviary in spring to put them in every spring and summer, then they come in during winter....so should i just tame Belle now, then add Kirby into the aviary first...then Ariel so they hit it off by themselves for a while outside, then once they pair up add the others???.... Last but not least, how do i tell how big my pics are before i post them here from photobucket????....anyone? Thx in advance!!!
  11. Hey there guys!.....its just me again (Kirby..(Laughing out loud)). I was wondering if you guy couild please tell me what colours my beautiful babies are??? I breed Chico myself...4 years ago, and his parents are the ones that are sittong on my old red cuttain rod (sadly they died last year within 3 months of eachother...5 and 7 years old.) The other pics are just several of my budgies (Kirby yellow headed blue, Belle skyblue, Ariel white pied, Chico yellow pied). So here you guys go....and as you can see i have gorgeous babies!!..2 males and 2 females..but none breeding so far http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-005F.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-010F.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-011F.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-009F.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-013F.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-016F.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/petguy/MVC-008F.jpg Thx, Kirby :ygbudgie: :nest: As you can see, Chico's left wing is not normal. Its been like that since birth, and has never healed. It does not cause him any trouble though...i call it his lucky wing! (like finding Nemo with Nemos messed up fin....ps-i am setting up a saltwater fish tank and im getting clownfish!!!....im sooooo excited....plus im going to build an aviary in the spring at my cottage, then bring it back to my house, set it up, then put my babies in it during the summer!!!...its going to be dividable so i can have American budgies on one side, and the breeding pair of English budgies on the other side!~!~!~!~!~!..(Laughing out loud)..cant wait!) Thx guys...bye
