okay. Thanks. I really want to try snow pea sprouts. I recall a few people on here saying their birds love them.

It was me looking for the information. Thanks so much. Where can you get the seeds?
  7. I would love it if you are right about both, but I'm pretty sure Wylie is not a cinnamon. His wings are very black. I think it is just the lighting in that shot. Here is a picture of him in better lighting. I haven't noticed a speck of blue on Daffodil before but I'll definately look more closely at her. I thought she was dark green (maybe one dark factor). Here is a picture of her in different lighting as well.

I love your birds. You really know how to capture their beauty with your photography.
  10. I got the cage from birdcagemart.com. Not sure if it has a name brand but its size is Width 64¾" Depth 21½" Height 35". It has a great divider so I can separate it into two cages. That will be handy as I introduce the birds from quarantine. Also for breeding. They do have an absolute blast with so much room to move around. It's fun for me too watching them.
  11. I ended up using poplar. And I must say they are a hit with the birds!!! They have been scurrying up and down them all morning. The bark is off two of them. Over time I'm going to replace all of the dowel perches with natural perches.
  12. Instructions please??? I've never sprouted anything before.
  13. I spent a few hours taking pics of the bubs yesterday. I hope you enjoy. Daffodil sittin' pretty! Puddin' as cute as ever! Beka looking very sultry. Star uses the new water bottle as a perch. Wonder if they'll ever drink out of it??? Wylie looking cutsie wootsie! Won't he and Star (above) make lovely babies someday Sylvester and Tweetie having a little squabble. A gorgeous feather fluff from Sylvester. He is so pretty! And he enjoys a bite of romaine - he loves the stuff! Tazzy plays shy today. Rest time for the Looney Tunes gang!

My new budgie of 5 days, Beka, is doing this right now. It is causing me a great deal of anxiety watching her!!! It doesn't help that she actually did escape once through a food dish opening. Now she is chewing at the bars constantly, pulling at food dishes (her first means of escape), clawing at the plastic side of the cage. Her cage mate Star seems rather annoyed by it all, snapping at her from time to time, but every once in awhile she will join in too. I sure hope that it stops after a few days :budgiedance: :dbb1:

My birds have been having a blast with one of the toys I made. They love the hemp rope, straws, and wooden letters the most!! Tweety and Sylvester play together. Hey, I want to play too, says Wylie! This is so much fun I'll do the splits for it!
  17. I don't really have any "without flash" pics. Here is another shot. . I can't remember if it was this forum or another, but someone identified her as just a dilute. There is definately no grey on her. And my understanding of a clearwing from the picture he showed was there would be a greater distinction between the colour on her wings and the colour on her body. But then again, she isn't really light like Sylvester and Tweety. So I continue to be confused

Welcome to the forums. You will find lots of people here willing to help. I'm fairly new to budgies myself so still asking lots of questions. I would keep an eye on your budgie. You are lucky if it is so tame already. The fluffing up can be a sign of illness but my budgies fluff all the time and are okay. Budgies don't need much water. I have 8 and I have only ever seen a couple drink. I just make sure there is always water available so that if they want it, it is there. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your bird. It sounds gorgeous! A picture will help the experts identify the type of budgie and the sex. Enjoy the forums.
  19. I'm going to take the four new birds to the vet. Maybe all 8 if I can get a package deal . I want to get their wings clipped and get them checked before I put them in with Tweety, Sylvester, Tazzy and Wylie. I think I figured out what the stuff is on Daff's wings - there is a pink calcium perch in the cage. She spends a lot of time on it. It has a powdery coating, and I bet that is rubbing off on her wings. Phew!!!! I also misted all the birds down today. I noticed a big improvement in the stuff around Daff's cere. Maybe it was just dirt. I'll find out for sure when they go to the vet! I know there our vet specializes in poultry so hopefully they'll know about budgies too.

I have four clipped birds and four full-feathered birds. There is a definate difference in how they can fly. My clipped birds (of which two fly extremely well) could never fly to the top of a window. My unclipped birds - wow - it is like bats swooping around. Scares the **** out of me as they bash into walls, etc. (Two have escaped the cage). I am going to have them clipped once so I can tame them up a bit. They are my newest birds and I'm having no luck taming them. I think the wing clipping makes a big difference. Three of the four that I purchased clipped have tamed really really well! The other one is so-so. But is much easier to get with the clipped wings if she flys away.

Lucky you! I don't know much about refinishing cages but I think I've read you can buy some non-toxic paint for them. Do you have a tiel? I think the spacing is too big for budgies???
  22. You have two great birds there. I love the unique wing colour of your male!
  23. I've noticed that Daffodil has something red on the bottom of her cere. I was looking at her closely today and also noticed that her wings tips seem to have almost a brownish stain colour to them. And there is definately a difference in poops. Some poop is a lot more brown/red than the other poop which is more black. She is still in the quarantine cage with Puddin'. Does this sound worrysome? She is so showing no other signs of illness. And Puddin' looks fine - no red anywhere Pics of cere. And wings (Brown might be hard to see but it is on tips of wings).

He's cute! How much does the vet charge for a wing clip?
