Trimming The Claws
you may want to have 2 people do this 1 to hold and 1 to clip and make sure you buy the stuff at the pet store before you do this that stops bleeding incase you nick too far (it happens). Another way to do it too is if Jim climbs on his cage and stays there you can clip them as his nails are sticking out on the side of the cage. If in doubt have the vet do it first to show you. Though it is simple to do birds are hard to get to sit still

Is My Budgie Crazy?
oh old is your budgie again? Is he going through a moult? They do have hormonal stages where your budgie you knew once is not the same one you knew but give it a couple weeks the hormones calm down and they are back. Also make sure you are providing at least 10-12 hours of dark time for your budgie that helps with hormonal stages. Merlin used to cling to the window then he learned he wasn't able to get out and likes to sit at the window. Give it time he will eventually the window will not be an issue.

Cant Work It Out
it is normal for budgies to call each other young or old. if your friend wants one and lives in a different home the budgie will adjust yes it will call but once it adjusts it will call to the owner not the other budgie it may take a week, if your friend lives with you and you can't stand the calling they will probably have to stay together Does that help?

So question Daz and to those. How do you tell if it is DEC or DF spangle if it is a hen with the cock it would be the blue cere but what about the hen?

Rust
I believe there was a post started about paint just recently and bubbles put up a link. From what I read powder coated paint that says bird safe is best (baby safe is not always bird safe I also read). Primer can have lead and toxins so you have to be careful about that. Yes it is a topic about even the metal in the calcium perches that they have zinc in it. The best you can do is to be aware and use common sense in different situations. As I said I wouldn't want to sit on a rusty cage I wouldn't give it to my birds toxic or not , but that is me.

this last post makes more sense the first one you have has an iris ring oh well I just wanted to see if I could get it cleared up. I will go with no iris ring :hap: as that is how I learned it.

I agree with what you just posted but what you posted for standards is the opposite , it says white iris ring.

okay I am asking because of another post called eyes that Anne and I have been chatting on. Per the site I posted the DEC is to have plum eyes you put an iris ring here as the standard. I always believed that the way to tell the difference between a DEC and a DF Spangle was the iris ring. Also if they are called black eyed or dark eyed isn't that in it self a description of no iris ring? Just asking

What are the standards for a show budgie?
-
Eyes
I always thought that if they had the iris ring and the blue cere of the male (tan female) that would make them a double factor spangle and if they didn't then that would make them the DEC. That would how I was taught to tell the different

Blinkie And Ozzie
Well we have had the discussion before about being part English or at least 1/4 and I stand firm on that (Laughing out loud) because Merlin and Oz are very similar though I think Merlin may have a fluffier head. Also just like people everyone metabolizes their food differently and I would say the same for budgies too.

Eyes
Anne according to this site DEC do not have iris rings http://www.budgieplace.com/c_dec.html they stay plum like the recessives As for the ino I believe I remember reading that yes they can have iris rings but their iris have to be red. Do you have a picture of your birds that you can post here
