  1. female cere are usually a whitish pink and yes tend to have the white nasals males have a deeper pink but can have white nasal rings too my Pretty does. Looking at your budgie it is a deep pink and no nasals rings at all certainly looks total male

Gorgeous birds did you get them all at the same place? I ask because of this they could be sibling the 2 on the end look very similar to each other but then 2 that look nothing like each other could be sibling too. Budgies breed fairly easy the issues are usually when they have bred what you will do with the chicks, what if the chicks have to be hand feed could you do that and other issues that potentially could happen in the nesting box. I encourage you to read the real life journals here of some of breeders such as sailorwolf (who just started), bubbles (who has been breeding longer), shawna (who just started). bea (who has bred before) and many others this will give you an idea of what can or could happen. I welcome you and your flock is gorgeous.

that is my cage (Laughing out loud) just love it and I got it on ebay for just 100 US, anyways from what I understand metal is poisoness period (I am sure that could be debated from those who never had issues) but it would be safer to replace. Have you thought about calling the manufacture about the issue? See if they have a website on-line and put in a complaint?
  11. Did the pet shop say she was that age? If you had a shot of her cere that would help. Lutino males keep their pink ceres and females should if 12 months turn a whitish tan. You may just have a male but a picture of the actual bird's cere without a flash would help . Congrats on your newest addition.
  12. poor thing he is really plucked, still handsome, keep us updated.
  13. I agree with Bubble if you click on the picture and enlarge you will see the yellow bleed through her chest and wings. She is a pretty gal
  14. explanations are a good thing (I didn't mean it any other way) :ausb:
  15. Eyal, I just wanted to let you know that I didn't know when I first got Pretty that most budgies do not like to be stroked on the breast. Think about where their partner preens them is usually their head. I think I tended to think them as dogs but realized they are birds :ausb: so if he or she doesn't like to be touched that is okay. Jayne, they can see the birds outside and I would probably move her away from the window when she does this. Is she calling "is that the type of screaming she is doing"? If you go to www.budgietalk.com and there is a section where you can listen to the different chirps let me know because if she is calling like that she is calling to the birds outside and that is probably driving her nuts too since they are not responding back .
  16. so colorful and they are very precious Bea :ausb: excellent shots!
  17. great to hear and thank you for the updated :ausb:
  18. His mom is jealous of his good looks just send him my way :ausb:, serious note I do hope the little bugger is okay.
  19. Keep us updated, you explained everything so well that I don't have any questions but just fingers crossed that all will be okay for both!!!
  20. good news , yes things can progress slowly and if you find the bird is timid of that step then just take a step back . Great things come from slow progress.
  21. sorry I missed that BUT don't you need to know why they won so you can breed that same trait again and again to win
  22. Welcome back and they are gorgeous
  23. Welcome to our site and as said Rainbow has given excellent advice. Continue to update us on his progress. Progress can be slow so I encourage you not to give up. Yes it can take several months to tame or it can take a week it depends on the bird and your consistency .
